  • The film of soapy water tries to reduce its contact surface with the air. When it comes into contact with the metallized paper, the film’s force causes it to change shape. By sticking to the film, the paper allows it to reduce its contact surface with air. It replaces the air with a solid. Then the air is sucked by the needle: the film retracts. The strength of the soap film is sufficient to further bend this solid material. When the film bursts, gravity causes the petals to fall.
