Thanks dude I think it’s because my dad is and always has been a classical guitarist, so I kind of grew up around it, although I don’t really play classical at home. Thanks for your support :-)
The whole world of guitar needs a mashup of classical/nylon string and shred. The classical guitar needs an injection of modern cutting edge playing styles. Rob is the man to do it. I already am doing it. It's why I've bought a Lag hyvibe hybrid.
The original players of the Lute used to stand playing the interment using a strap. This is probably the reason for the creation of the Guitar so as to allow you to play while setting. The curve added to the side of the guitar was made to rest comfortably on ones knee.
@@ethanmichael17 Yes, I've seen many of his videos. Here's a video you may enjoy: Rolf Lislevand plays A.Stradivari Sabionari, 1679 guitar - Santiago de Murcia - Tarantela, th-cam.com/video/yGKan6eX5ug/w-d-xo.html The music by de Murcia is particularly good.
The soundhole on a Lute is actually called a Rose! The Theorboe is another fantastic baroque instrument to check out. It's about 6 feet tall, if you haven't seen it before so that should definitely be an incentive to see it.

Lovely tone well played Chappers, nice to see your mellow side, we know you can shred, but i love your mellow stuff, you have a superb feel. Keep safe sir
Cooooool. I actually wanna start getting stuff like this. Building a taglharpa from scratch would be kinda neat too. Chris Cornell played the mandolin so hey why not
This toy sounds amazingly good! I am nicely surprised and now I am not even sure that I want a regular nylon-string guitar anymore :D Thanks for the great video!
After playing guitar for 15 plus years at least one of the videos I watched of yours what is positioning the guitar whilst you set that is a different ball game I've been doing it definitely turning the new page a lot of fun thanks for the tip also
Foam. Use a piece of foam. When I was little I asked mom to take me to a guitar school. The teacher said my hands were too small, "Perhaps he should try this first and switch to guitar a few years down the line". And he handed me a domra. That's essentially an Eastern European version of a 4-string mandolin, but it's shaped like a lute and suffers from the same body sliding problem. And we used foam like you'd find in packaging of fragile electronics and such (or a least if was very common in the '90s). After a few years I quit the music school never switching to guitar. Many years later I taught myself to play guitar anyway.
Thanks Jamie, I was just messing around but as you can probably tell I’m a big fan of GNR. Yes Bow-wow is beautiful and sadly not mine, he belongs to Matt the cameraman!

5:30 - Interesting... I solved the problem by 1.) using a strap and 2.) clamping the lute down with my right arm. I really need to try this squat hunch.
Hey Rob I've been a massive fan for years now but seriously that cover of nothing else matters was some of the most emotional beautiful playing I've heard you do Full cover haha Cheers
I was on the fence about getting one of these. After seeing this I ordered one. I already have a Claviola with a pickup, but I just had to get this. The price is hard to pass up.
The tone on this particular guitar lute sucks, but it got me to order one from Muzikkon. I've played classical guitar since the age of 5 and own classical instruments from Spanish luthiers like José Ramírez. The lute I got wasn't the cheapest, but it sounds quite good. It is beautifully decorated with the wooden head of a lady in the headstock. I love it that it looks just like my wife. I threw some Aquila Ambra 900 strings on it and the tone is quite intoxicating. It does not sound like a regular classical guitar. But this video got me looking into guitar lutes, so thank you!
You should check out the Alvarez-Yari Luteback. Looks like an Ovation as the back is the same only it’s made from strips of wood. Kind of rare but very cool.
Now that you're exploring cousins of the guitar, maybe you could do a video on tenor guitars, especially in their standard tuning of GDAE. Then you can really explore those cello suites.
Sounds like a mid-range classical guitar to me, maybe a bit thinner. I wouldn't buy one over a standard guitar for tone. I would 100% buy one for the aesthetic though. I can imagine that guitar on a stage doing folk, early classical, or bardcore and I absolutely want one just for the way it looks. Muzikkon have a few which are pricey but they've got a carved head on the headstock and everything 🤤
both the guitar and oud have the same string length (57-60) cm. however the oud neck is one third of the string length, but the guitar neck is half the the string length... so what happens when blend the two instruments? the bridge location on the oud bowl will slide more to the middle of the bowl... in traditional ouds the bridge is supposed to be closer to the deepest point of the bowl, but here it is not... however the sound is good, but I would like to see if there is fretless double stringed versions of this.
Thanks for this nice comment on the tone, it is honestly a beautiful stunning instrument - I added a very small amount of reverb, but mainly what you are hearing is the room mic blended with the close mic. Thanks for watching and have a great day :-)
It's a transcription of Bach's 1st Cello Suite (originally G major). All six suites are amazing, although that movement is probably the best known. Enjoy!
WIth a Dad that is classically trained (as am I), I would think that you would play your electric guitars on your left leg while seated, but I believe you mainly play off your right, like in your Anderton videos? Just curious as to why, Rob?
Bought this guitar based solely on this video. It arrived yesterday and I am not disappointed. What a fantastic guitar.
upload some songs :D
How is it?! Did it blow your mind?
Where'd you get it? I'm having a hard time finding one aside from one on Amazon which... could be dodgy.
I love that guitar lute. Although it sounds like a classical guitar, the aesthetics has that historically mixed feel of old and new together.
It's a very nice Classical Sound
I NEED ONE. NOW!
Rob you transition to non-electric very well! Bravo!

I wonder how people in the Renaissance would have reacted it to Metallica...
🤘🧐🤘
Given that a lot of metal is based on classical music melodies and chord progressions, I'd say it would fit in quite well

Except the Oud, the granddaddy of the lute has the same body shape and is played almost exclusively sitting.
@@MrNeosantana it's probably played sitting due to having grown so much in size.

Can you link the guitar? I looked on Thomann's website and the cheaper lute guitar looks very different from yours.
