I had no idea NuX was such a big operation. I learned a whole lot here, including that you can easily eat off their floors without a problem. Really glad you’ve forged a great relationship with this company and that they are treating you and your dad like family. I respect a company that makes great stuff and is still able to have fun with its employees and business associates. A music company should be like that, as should everyone company. Being corporate doesn’t mean it has to be a stuffy or abusive environment. Treat everyone well on a regular basis, and they’ll produce better gear when it’s time to get to work!
100% agree with you, they were all super chill and very nice to hang with especially Lucia who couldn’t have been nicer. She really looked after dad, even teaching him Chinese throughout the day.
I'm not gonna lie, even as a self proclaimed "open minded" guitarist, seeing how nice their facility was and how sweet everyone there was really went a long way towards shifting my perception of what we guitarists tend to consider "lower end" gear manufacturers making affordable stuff over in China. Definitely gonna seriously consider their offerings in the future when I'm gear shopping, might even start with that power supply, purple is my color!
Having half a board full on NU-X pedals, I can absolutely vouch for them. The Amp Academy didn't work so well for me, for some reason creating heavy artifacting. But we never narrowed the reason down, so could be anything from system update to the particularly noisy electrics of my home. The ones I use daily, and vouch for wholeheartedly. Atlantic - Punches up with the big boys, great reverb/delay pedal that really lacks nothing in terms. Ace of Tone - Tubescreamer od and Bluesbreaker (I think based on Morning Glory circuit by JHS, could be wrong) od in one box, stackable, reorderable and with extra secondary sounds for each. This somply is a great twin overdrive that covers most bases. Fireman - Basically replaced my drive channel on the Blackstar HT club 40. Just a really good "Marshall in a box" -style distortion unit. Highly recommend these, clear to use, solid construction and they sound great.
I hear you, and you’re talking about those cheap (and defective) copy basses. Like a copy of a Fodera or F bass that they put the actual logo on the copy headstock. Shameful. But this NU-X factory is undeniably 100% legit !
NUX keeps making very high quality gear at very affordable price. And their aftersales service is excellent too. The firmware of MG30 has been kept updating after almost 3 years from the first production. They want to make the 200% use of the 3 footswitch on the unit. This is a brand of which we Chinese are proud. Thanks for visiting China.
I love these videos,! There are places we'll never get to see but thanks to you and your Dad, we do. I had no idea that NUX was so huge!! Amazing places. Thanks again!!
I have to be honest and say I had absolutely no idea either - if you’ve ever visited Thomann it was similar in size/infrastructure. I was literally shocked. Will always try and take you on the journey as much as possible. I really enjoy visiting brands, companies and factories, et cetera.
A small clarification at 3:18 The thermal cycles procedure (aka _burn-in_ ) is not meant to test the equipment in every possible environmental operating field conditions, but rather to put under stress the electronics to spot possible failures due to "infant mortality" of electronic components. It is a known fact in electronics production that new component's higher failure peak along its life curve is localized within the first 24-48h of operation, after which the curve tends to drastically flatten. Thus these tests, often enhanced with vibrational stress, are meant to detect and rule out possible early failures and ensure to deliver a product with the expected device functionality throughout its useful life.
I’ve always been impressed by the various NUX pedals I’ve tried but viewed them as a lesser product. This vid has changed my view and makes me think the brand is underestimated and well on the way up. Taking another look at the range especially after seeing the testing regime and I can see why I’ve always been impressed now. Thanks guys.
Massive thanks to the team at Cherub Tech/NUX for inviting Dad and I to investigate behind the scenes of where they make some of the best guitar gear on the planet :-)
Nice factory tour! Your dad is such a lovely chap! Nu-x have some really cool stuff! And as I saw they amazing facilities & top notch machinery to build their products. I'm sure the people there have shown you great hospitality.
I've been curious about the NUX factory for a while, so it was fun to get a look behind the scenes. I got the Cerberus last year, primarily for my steel guitar, and I've been singing its praises ever since. It's a real hidden gem. The only effect I wasn't entirely happy with was the phaser, but for my needs/taste - everything else is just perfect. Thanks for the tour!
I'm so pleased to see you spending lots of time with your dad. I failed to spend enough time with mine before he was gone. We had plans that never came to be.
Great to see where my NUX Mini Super Chorus pedal was made. A very nice, clean, factory and facilities that Cherub has and thanks for sharing the tour with you & your father.
I think we have a strange view in the West of the level of QA of Chinese made electronics and as we can see from this factory, they are up there with the best.
Some people just don't realize how much it's improved over the past 20 years or so and still see it from the 90s perspective of "made in China=quantity over quality". One more example I can think of is KZ in-ear monitors - the company was founded by a former Audio-Technica engineer and their quality and sound can compete with many Western manufacturers for a fraction of the price.
What a fair factory tour you give us Rob, who will honestly believe this is the way NUX and other companies are constructed and designed, it's surprising. How can those products go wrong ?? Amazing factory..
Didn’t expect that at all. They could very easily make top of the line stuff. It’s a matter of time, really. If they go all in on the amp modeling they can compete with the premium brands.
Rob, "bai jiu" (白酒) literally means "white liquor" and there are more brands than you can count! When they say "degree" that means alcohol percentage. 45 degrees is 45% alcohol. I'm glad you enjoyed your tour. I've been doing manufacturing in Taiwan for over 20 years and I've seen smaller airports compared to some China factories I've visited. Lemme know if you make it over to Taiwan! The segment with your father playing was pure magic!
It's awesome what great engineering and innovative products in the music industry are being created in China. These are great times for hobbyist and semi pro musicians. Thx for sharing.
Now, that is a factory! They're making some good gear at NUX. Very impressive walk around and still finding time to get hammered on Chinese liquor with Dad... 👍🏻
@@RobChappers It would be really interesting as a follow up to show the Nux engineers at work, so we can understand how they get the tones into the pedals
This was incredibly interesting to see how the factory of a fairly budget-minded brand works. Beautiful facility and well tested products, honestly makes you wonder why some people pay crazy prices for gear produced to the same (if not worse) standard just because they are made in another part of the world.
Must be so nice to go with ya dad to do and see things like this....mine has sadly passed so never got the opportunity...but good on you Rob 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼🏴
Wow! What a Facility. All of those machines are tremendous.Great Video that must have been a hell of a lot of fun! Extremely interesting. Those folks We're very nice.Well done.
I got for my home studio their flagship electronic drum kit and its reaaally good! I also have one of their wireless guitar systems, great bang for your buck
I watch for the guitar content. I found you on the Andertons channel like most probably have. While I love the guitar content watching you and your Dad was special. Do more content like this, I watch Andertons to watch Lee and Pete interact and the guitar stuff takes a back seat. Great video, greetings from San Diego CA, USA..

I could not stop laughing at that ending! Now I see where you get your sense of humor from. It started and ended with you two being drunk and I loved it. Great video as always Chappers! - Morgan~Washington, USA
I bought an MG200 to use as a practice/headphone unit and was so blown away by it I ended up putting it on my board with my other pedals. Nux is definitely becoming a player in the gear game.
Wow! Amazing facilities and team. Hopefully will show certain people that say things like "cheep Chinese cr*p" it isn't always the case. I was fortunate to have lunch with Hans Thomann once, and I always remember him saying how it confused him when people would buy a di box for €20 and then contact them 2 years later to complain it broke. He was baffled how so many people couldn't understand the cost/performance ratio... (or something like that).
I like to see tours of guitar, pedal and amp factories over seas. Back in the 70s I toured a few of the USA factories when I first started collecting guitars. People seem to think the factories over seas are all machines doing the work but in actuality they put in the same amount of hand assembly and finishing they do here in the states. I know there are some small factories that are fairly low end producers of very cheap guitars and even those can be decent with a little work. As far as electronics go most of the stuff we buy has been made over seas and some assembled here are assembled with parts from China etc. Even guitars branded at Made in USA use some parts made overseas or just out of the country. I got a NUX small battery/power source amp a while back on some sale. I think it's great especially if I plan on not being home I can pack it up in a guitar case with my guitar and just haul it around. I am also a watch collector and love seeing watches being manufactured over seas especially in countries people seem to thumb their noses at because they are not based in Switzerland. They have the same precautions that any big watch company has in place.
