Loved this! Told a lot of great stories. One thing is the part saying it's hard today consistent for so long wasn't really true. Chu just wasn't playing melee at the time he was playing brawl and few off melee on that release. And then was a top PM player for a while before coming back rather than the story you told. Still love this though and the events you told were a lot more important with the focus on melee ♥️
Exactly. No talk of how he was part of the trifecta in 2007 alongside M2K and PC. Especially Pound 2 where, as you said, he took the event over both M2K and PC with wobbling banned.
I didn't even know that wobbling was banned at Pound 2 lol. That's insane that he won still. I do know that it was arguably a supermajor for the time as many of the big players were there. Both docs never mention it
Definitely a good doc, but I don't think it was necessary for them to talk about the mechanics of the game, mainly due to the fact that most of the people who know about competitive melee and achy already know the mechanics and rules. Other than that, amazing doc and happy to see Chu playing well and getting the respect and love he deserves

If you know how to play smash you can get to content at 9:15 after the intro. Also I can't believe they banned Wobbling completely making ICs unviable then now they're banning ledge stall when every viable character can deal with Puff ledge stall
Couple things 1. Wobbling has been banned in few regions (MDVA and Texas locals), very few majors, and that's it. 2. It would not make the character unviable. Players for years have played the character without wobbling and been top ten (wobbles and fly amanita). 3. A LGL only effects players who plan on going to time, which in melee and with an 8 minute timer, rarely happens. 4. The counterplay to ledgestalling is hoping you can grab the ledge during the brief period they're not on ledge, or hitting them between edge grabs. When characters like Sheik and fox can do extremely safe stalls only stopped by wavedashing onto ledge, which is super hard to do and super risky with thousands of dollars on the line. 5. Puff's ledgestall is good because she has 5 jumps. She can mix it up with forward air, or just use different amounts of jumps. Challenging it is high risk with little reward, especially when you play any character that isn't puff or marth, because most characters will trade and be put in an edgeguard scenario.
Cyan 4 Legitimately all the high tiers have ways of dealing with puff ledge camping. Fox Lazer and tilts, Falco Lazer and tilts, Sheik with needles, Marth Dtilt, Peach Turnips, Puff can challenge off stage, Pikachu has thunder jolts, Samus has projectiles and crouch cancel, Mario/Doc/Luigi has projectiles/capes, Links have projectiles, and Ice Climbers have desynced ice blocks. The only character that struggles is Falcon and he can CC or edge cancel punish. In a high pressure situation what happens if the fox and sheik miss 1 input? They lose a stock Also I would love to join the blind hate but I think the Melee community is being too overactive lately How many majors were won when ICs had wobbling anyway 0?
Cyan 4 LMAO Can't wait to camp out those non wobblers and play EXTREMELY more campy if the other player touches the ledge a lot. Can't wait for these snoozefests!
@@vorporal8764 You're correct about those counter points, if the puff is doing the same stalling pattern, only if puff goes above ledge. If the puff just goes below ledge, or mixes up her stalling, its hard to counter it. Also, most of the counter play you said works if stocks are even, and if the puff isn't just focused on camping, they can always just wait until the opponent messes up and approach, given most of your solutions require a good level of commitment. I don't know if I agree in a LGL, but like, you gotta know the facts.
Cyan 4 I'm more of the opinion that nobody knows how to deal with it more than it's actually broken. I'm sure we'll get sets where one player camps and knocks a character to the ledge to win for example Ganon jabbing ICs. Just imagine how crazy it'd be to win after being down 3 stocks. It's just LGL encourages counter camping even harder rather than learn what you can do against ledge stalling.
If there was somebody who deserved an episode on the Smash documentary, it would've been Chudat.
