Bob! I used to read your blog all the time. You took a random photo of stuff you'd see. It helped me through the PTSD after Hurricane Katrina when I was displaced. Thank you.
I have been a Letterman fan my entire life and Paul Newman has always been my hero. This was my favorite moment of the entire history of the show...a complete surprise to the viewer and you could tell how much Dave loved the moment as much as Paul. Glad to put you up there with them Bob!
1:19 Back row, black and white print shirt: Chris Fowler of ESPN. He was there as a guest of the man who got two tickets, Craig Wachs (seated to his left, our right), an ESPN researcher at the time. Wachs wound up getting Dave’s tie after the show.
@@BordenBob Yes, it is. You know, I have a late night talk show on TH-cam called Weeknight Update, and I do a parody of Dave's Top 10 List. Who knows? Maybe I will be able to host Late Night on NBC and reinvent the late night talk show format like Dave did.
Great memories Bob! What an honor to have been part of Letterman. To me, the was Johnny. But Dave came in and filled those shoes in a different way, but it was epic!!!
Is it wrong that I get very excited every time a new one of these gets posted? I hope they keep posting new ones for only the next 30 plus years..

Comedy gold because Bob Borden is genuinely funny. unintentionally which makes it real realer.
Thank you for your kind words!
@@BordenBob I've actually met you a few times Bob. We have a mutual friend.
@@roccoand2612 I hope I was nice when we met!
Don't care that all your favorite clips are about yourself Bob! Fantastic memories
Thank you!
Paul's finger pistols and Dave's reaction is one of my fav moments from the entire run.
I remember watching this and thinking Paul Newman with the finger gun thing was the greatest thing ever.

Awesome!
I love these Staff clips.
Wow! From writing Viewer Mail letters to actually doing things for David Letterman in such a short amount of time!? That's legendary.
It's crazy when you think about it.

@@BordenBob I am doing my best. I've been doing it since 2009. I hope that you will watch it sometime.
@@BordenBob You lived the dream, my friend! And you probably know Dave almost as well as the public at large, from what other staffers have said...
Great memories Bob! What an honor to have been part of Letterman. To me, the was Johnny. But Dave came in and filled those shoes in a different way, but it was epic!!!
Epic is right!
Congrats Bob. You had me at ‘what’s the deal with Geraldo?’
Thank you!
"What's the deal with Geraldo?" is still a relevant question today.
It's timeless, ha ha!
Always loved seeing Bob on the show...and I love seeing him again on the heaven sent TH-cam channel!
Thanks, Billy!
OMG!!!! Such great memories
For real! I have so many more!
Man, he lived my dream - sending in a letter that got on the air and then workin' for the show.
Right?! It was my dream.
@@BordenBob AHH! You lucky guy, you. Congrats for living it!
@@MattTee1975 Thank you.
Always loved seeing you on the show, Bob.

@@BordenBob I worked at WOMP back in the mid-90's, so it was great to see someone from the mov on Letterman..
Bob, I realized as I watched this video how many of my favourite bits involved you! Thanks for the laughs!
Ha ha! Thank you!
Thanks for another Staff Favorites! Excellent as usual!
These segments are so incredibly well put together and do educational
Glad you chose nothing but your own clips, Bob, because they're all great!
Love these clips, and the stories behind them. Funny the Paul Newman clip has come up a few times…such a funny bit!
Great stuff Bob! I remember the Geraldo letter; some of Pauls best acting!
thank you for bringing fourteen minutes of joy into my day
How awesome is this? Thank you very much for sharing these clips. I miss all you guys. Awesome show.
"All my favourite memories are involving me". Hey, fair enough!
Sorry, not sorry! Ha ha.
You were lucky to have so much fun.
I really was! Very lucky.
Bob rocks! 💕

Bob was my boss 20 years ago when I was the writer's intern. I don't think he's changed a bit!
Hey, Mike! Hope all is well! I haven't changed.

I’m sure not everyday was exciting but all in all you guys had a great job.
True.
Here from 'Bob goes on a date' clip. Well done Bob, you did it, you won at life!
Fun fact, that's ESPN's Chris Fowler on the back row of the audience behind Paul Newman. (4th seat from aisle; black and white shirt)
Cool!
Bob looks like he had a glow up! Great memories.
If I could find the "blush" emoji, I'd use it here.
Only in America can you go from mail boy to writer on an Emmy winning TV show.

I'd like to take credit but the writer on that remote, Tom Ruprecht, told me to do it. I believe the first bump was a sports thing, at the time.

NBC Letterman was so much better. CBS chopped his balls off

What a hump!
I guess.
That poor Mazda MX6.
Yes BUT, it gave me a lot of mechanical problems and cost a lot of money in repairs...which I didn't have. The floor also had a hole in it.
