Agree with your comments regarding Northampton Motorsport, I took my Mk2 Escort that runs a 1600 16v vauxhall engine, they were really helpful, explained everything that was going on and i will definitely use them again. I was very pleased with my 156 Bhp from my standard engine on Jenvey Taper throttle bodies.
They rebuilt the engine and never put a new pump in, why did it not have a high pressure high capacity pump fitted, if the pump is that bad your lucky it never let go on the dyno, Harris might even blame that on the oil pressure fault, so it going to need full strip down to check for shell damage and piston pick up, cheers Mitch thanks for sharing

that oil pressure is dangerously low, but it is worth changing the filter first, just in case.. if the oil filter makes no difference, i would seriously think about pulling that lump out to check the crank, for wear, or [not impossible] wrong clearances, and of course it will need a decent pump fitting, something well wrong in there...

That was interesting I know a bit about their engines my age I’m afraid?? I would have said at least 50 to 60% of Ford had that type of engine than enough. Rule number one whenever doing a service on one of those engines always replies to spray bar the old one that comes out put it in an old tray with some gunk and then use your airline to blow as they will block all the time. And keep it for next time have to do a service. We used to like put the 2L OHC to replace the 1300/1600 engine. Great to see them being kept on the road all the best.
Absolutely quality a preferred the brown drab or the blue drab interior but if you’re on the road 🛣️ and flying who cares nice touch by the garage to av the green snap-on toolbox as well 👏👀👌🏴

Is that at wheel or calculated flywheel. Super nice looking car, is it original or restored ? I would be upset if Harris refreshed the motor and didn't put in a new oil pump. Does it have a mechanical oil pressure gauge ?

How anyone builds a engine with out replacing the heart of it the oil pump is really not the way to go Oil is the blood of a engine and if it’s not fitted with a new one also pick up pipe it’s a no brainer

Driving any car with a suspicious oil pump is a dangerous game. Personally I would have had it trailered home.

Top tip...only use Fords recommended oil’s because if you put thicker oil’s in OHC’s it will clog the spray bar holes
