@frostmafia1380 absolutely 💯. Used over anything is where it's at. Just got an alienware m15 r2 with 10th gen i7 and 2070 super for $450. Yeah it has soldered ram 16gb but I think that's a steal
You feel that way because you think it should be sold for more but it doesn't take long of checking marketplace to see how wrong that is, 150 is fair for this.
I see people complaining how 150 is low for this, have in mind, a Titan is just a 6gb card which performs the same as a 1060 in a lot of titles...and because of driver support, many games won't even work with the Titan. So 150 for a 4c/8t CPU, 16gb of ram, 120gb ssd, 1tb hdd and a card that is not even a 1060, 150 is a decent deal, 10th gen i3s which perform better than this i7 go for 25-30 bucks, with motherboards costing the same, using a 1060 you could replicate this build but better for 200 with some patience and deal hunting.
Its fairpriced yet underpriced at the same time. If it was a dell xps with a i7 2600, 16gb of ram and like a gtx 770 $150 would be about right. This machine has a bunch of overkill components that really should have been parted out.
Spot on. Nowadays entry level hardware is already running circles around this old high end build. Also... custom watercooling systems do not age well when it comes to resell value. It always means a lot more work and problems to deal with.
Indeed, because it is literally worth 75 to a 100 dollars. i7 2600 costs 5 bucks, the mobo 15, the RAM 15, the GPU 40 and 25 for the rest of the crap. And it will only play older games on decent levels..... To put in another 200 on top of the 150 they paid for it's crazy, and stating someone could buy it for 400 is mental.
My brother has one of those cases, he got it with a GTX Titan XP ... the Star Wars version (Dark side). I actually have a GTX Titan, the original one, best way to describe it today is it would be a GTX 790. It runs, but DX11 and blower card only... so basically it runs at 70C, and it works on most games, but nothing that requires DX12.
It looks cool and I like it. It would be fun to have it as a secondary PC. It's a 2nd gen i7 and a 1080 is a better GPU than the Titan. So, it's just an acquainted PC with little to offer but conversation. The PSU is good but the GPU is missing the original fans. Who would build a newer custom loop and install that GPU?
love watching your guys stuff, im a lousiville native as well and its cool watching the vids of locals!!! looking forward to the next vid. any roast my rig/setups coming down the line?
Fun video. Loved the intro skit. Kinda wish the “expert” had high balled it a little though, then faux Rick come in with the “I can only do 150” to keep it more realistic to the show. Great stuff either way
SP's us launch was in 2011, so while I believe that drive is newer than the PC, it doesn't have to be. Also... I have a SSD drive that has an IDE interface... it is fun to play with. It also proves that commercial SSD's are much older than you think. For specs it is a 128GB drive, and when new it ran about $10k.
even though it's an old pc it's still good enough for some titles and it's also a pretty cool setup....i am not an nvidia guy, but i will say this is a cool pc and i would own it.
Whoever did this did know what they were doing they just did it old school. Zip ties on flex tubes and tube in tube converting was absolutely the standard in the mid 00s. The baby rad is probably left over from a previous build and they tossed it in because more rads is more rads.
Yeah guys that looks SIIIIICK! Great job making that thing look Beastly!! Only let down by the i7 2600. Would make a great showpiece in anyone collection. WoW
Keeping things out of the land fill is always great!.. I would have looked around the shop to see if I had any CPUs that could upgrade it.. even if just a little. (old computer tech. i have to much old crap hardware in the basement.. lol) Looks Amazing!! red is very nice.
Cool refurb. Thank you for sharing. I mentioned this in a weekend stream, but I want to capture it here in the comments. I recently learned that some HP mini Elitedesk PCs could be equipped with a discrete graphics card, with 4GB of RAM. A setup with the pc, card, and 155w power brick could be an interesting mini pc build. Please consider the project. Thank you!
honestly, I'm kinda in the same boat. Recently bought a whole custom water loop pc off of fbm for 100 bucks. Works perfectly fine, but it too has a original titan card in it. Still figuring what to do with it haha!
It's a Thermaltake Core X71 TG. I have the same case with a custom hardline loop. You can fit all the radiator you could ever want, plus I got to keep my 5.25 bay so I don't need a USB optical drive
I ran the i7-4770 non-K version for many years. It was a decent CPU and I loved it, I run an i7-12700 now and laugh at how the new i3's trounce the 4770's. {:>)
I like to check out your upgrades on the systems. I feel sorry for the guy who sold it to you. He should have came in for service. Then he could have gotten the upgrade service. I love the repairs and upgrades. Keep up the good work. Just waiting on the next build. :-)
Somethings off with the loop, most ek gpu blocks you don't use all four of the inlet/outlet ports. I have a titan x block from ek and if you run it like this there would be a limited amount of pressure to push the water through the gpu block (path of least resistance). You should cap off one of each side (top one side bottom other side) and it should come out of the cpu block and go into a radiator.
I mean that's across the board with any business. Just look at car dealerships, they low ball you on your trade in unless you're buying another car they can work a deal on... If you plan on buying from that business, you can work a better deal out...
780ti was the move cuz yeah 1k was nutty. Whats crazy is 3 years later, similar performance with rx 480 and 8gb vram @ 229$. Beast system tho and sandy bridge is still a champ (avx2 withstanding)
Actually in thast era a lot of watercooling comanies just used distilled water and water wetter from the auto racing world as their additive, which is red...
That's a marketplace flip for sure. Someone snagged a cheap water-cooled Titan for cheap and cobbled together a "high end system". The SP SSD and RGB strip from a TV are a dead giveaway.
I don't know if you guys have the room in your store, but it would be cool to have a section set up as kind of a "museum" of past high performance systems, just to show the history and how technology has advanced.
well a lynnfield 3580 3.3 u can definitely go to 2700K I mean they r cheap or a quad 3820 or hexa 39x0 Extreme I mean they cost nothing today. Yea I know you'll make that offer to the customer to cover the other improvement refurbish costs? mb
oh I get it the system ran a Sandy Bridge Extreme, a six core has to be, and they put a 2600 in the build to sell it to u and to sell the EE off to someone else separately? mb

Maybe it’s just the best PC they’ve ever used
Until they replace it with the money you give them

@frostmafia1380 absolutely 💯. Used over anything is where it's at. Just got an alienware m15 r2 with 10th gen i7 and 2070 super for $450. Yeah it has soldered ram 16gb but I think that's a steal
