Chris, just want to say, as a 75 yr old retiree, your videos are a great reprieve from the fake news, and disgusting political chaos and civil unrest. This country desperately needs more both feet on the ground young men like you. I've watched many of your videos and you have my respect for loving what you do and doing it extremely well. Thank you.

I used to work for my families excavating company, and when we closed down in 2010 we only kept a few pieces of equipment and one was the old Case 1155E trackloader, and we still used it quite a bit up to that point. Also used it to help dig my basement this spring. Ours had 18in pads on it, and yes it will get stuck easy if you get on soft ground.

Every morning this week, I've driven past a 300'x300' site being cleared here in the UK. With three machines on the job, they've achieved less than half what you do in a day or so.

It took our local council over 5 MONTH!!!! to replace a culvert pipe under a main road with a steam running though it!
Chris has knocked similar projects out in a day or 2. (minus putting the tarmac down afterwards)

    • @yorkshirerich2970

Trouble is here in the UK they will have a 2 hour health and safety briefing every morning, strip search to make sure every part of their clothing his Hi viz orange.
Then threw out the day endless people turning up with clip boards, telling them they are doing it wrong, the site will get closed down if the clip board sees any sign of a mouse.
Then after dinner another Health and safety briefing.
Wont be aloud to run the machines at school run time which will be 2 hour's twice a day.
      You get the picture.
Nobody is allowed to go to work and just work anymore, always has to be an army of clip board holders waiting to pounce for the slightest thing.

The cable company here where I live ran a cable across the corner my side yard to a neighbor's house. I mowed around it for a mowing season and called them several times but they never would send anyone out to bury it. The next year, before the first mowing, I cut it at the pedestal and again at the property line. Went about my mowing with the neighbor raising hell. The idiots came out and patched it in above the ground again. The next week, I cut it again. It took cutting it 3 times before they finally came out and buried it.

The cable company ran the cable diagonally across my 2 acre lot. So far out of utility easement that utility markers never found it. Unfortunately for them they placed it where the detention pond was going. When I dug the pond I cut off the cable for a whole trailer park. They came and ran it above ground over our driveway. The second time someone's trailer hitch snagged it and dragged it up the road they finally buried it.

Legal or not, I have learned that the cable/internet companies are extremely unregulated. They could leave the cable on top of the yard and likely nothing would happen to them. If something happened to the cable they would simply have to come back out and reconnect it. When you do the "Call before you dig" thing, that company alerts all the service companies who are supposed to come out and mark their own lines. Well, around here, the only company that does it is the power/gas company. The internet/cable companies don't bother and will just come out and replace any lines that get cut. They basically hedge their bets on nothing occurring instead of spending a little bit for somebody to mark lines. I found this all out after my line got cut and than the neighbors got cut. They can also literally not care much about your lawn either. They don't really have to rehab anything. The only thing keeping them in check is customer word of mouth. If they did lousy work and left everyone's easements a mess they would obviously get less customers wanting their service. But yeah, all that crap has very few regulations keeping them in check.

When the person selling the lot puts it on the market, would the value be affected by the need to clear it? OK, it only took two days, but that will still have come to some money. I guess the point I am getting at is would pay a land owner to bush wack the land once a month or so? It would come down to whether you had the equipment to do it yourself.

Doing an estimate today and they ran the line on the surface until they got to the property edge then they buried it 2" deep. So the area I need to clear has cable lines laying on the surface! 🤬 And FYI to the tree huggers. . .established lawns are far more beneficial to the environment than grub and trees.
