If after the problem is resolved Chris were to say a big 'thank you' to Volvo for taking care of him it would go a long way with myself as well as the over 500K viewers who watch these videos. Some of us have near term buying decisions to make and we'll be watching.

      @@zimbabwesteve4620 Good luck with that. What a global pandemic has done is to show us all that only listening to the MBAs fresh out of school is not always a good idea. I'm wondering if at least some of the issues with the Volvo can be traced to the time you caught it on fire earlier this year (or late last year, I forget). Very fortunate you've got the dozer as a backup for sure. If it's any consolation, the job I used to have, the company bought a brand new CAT 336FL excavator. Ran great, no issues. Suddenly at 1000 hrs the DPF light and alarms came on saying it was clogged and it forced a regen. Then it shut itself off. Restarted it, ran right back to limp mode. CAT came out and said a sensor was the issue. Needless to say about 5 calls later on it got the entire system replaced and was down for 3 months while CAT argued with warranty stuff etc. Very frustrating for my boss that just spent 250k on a new machine to barely get any use out of it. Before I left there it did it again at 3k hours. Moral of the story emissions is junk.

    Cripes, that's starting to become kind of a joke at this point, thing spends more time going into limp mode than it does working. Maybe you can find a 1970s or so excavator to re-build, give the old Link Belt another shot? At least it didn't break down every other day for a week!

    • @ToreDL87
      @ToreDL87 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah businesses get subsidies for using heavily regulated emissions friendly equipment.
      But it breaks down a lot and doesnt really pay off for private use.
      For personal use its always best to use older stuff that doesnt break down as much and is easier to repair, I've seen gears and shafts on old school stuff snap in half get just put back together enough to make a template for machining a new part.
      New stuff is too intricate for even that.

    👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🙏🏻 Can only imagine your frustration with the Volvo. Bulldozer steps up to get dam finished up for pending weekend rain, dam looks great👍 Try to have a nice weekend…maybe have a couple of beers and a pizza👍👍👍

    That's what's strange about old farm ponds. They throw just about anything in the dams to build them up. Trash, concrete, plumbing, old refrigerators, livestock, husband's or wives. 😆🤣😂😹

    Chris you made your dozer act like it was a D8.
    Wishing you that your baby will be fix quickly.
    Hope the rain will light . So the pond can be finished to your standards.
    Have a beer or two and have some fun with Winston.

    I feel your pain chris....seems like every new machine my company has gotten ends up with EGR or DEF issues or sensors goin out around 500-700 hrs and again around 1500-1800 hrs
    Thank God for factory warranties i guess

    You should get a camera that mounts on your hat, more of an operators perspective. Though you do get tossed around in that cab a lot so motion stabilization would be a must.

    Man I hate seeing the 220 go down but you sure did an amazing job on the dam with the dozer! I can only imagine how pissed you are, let’s hope they get it fixed right when they come out! I know it’s going to be warranty work but people don’t understand you still lost money by having to use the dozer , a lot slower process! Good luck my friend, it’s still quality work Chris! You’re the man stay safe and positive brother! I imagine everyone is disappointed along with you! Thanks for sharing brother! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      If I remember correctly from one of Chris’s older videos , he learned how to operate heavy equipment at a very young age. His grandfather owned the company before selling it to Chris’s Uncle John and Chris would sit on his grandfather’s knee while his grandfather was operating the equipment.
