"Gloves?! We don't need no stinking gloves!" Great job Marie and a great video. I almost teared up when I saw you paw through the biggest tool box on the planet and pick up the right ratchet and socket. That glove quote was Bogey's reply when his partner tells him to protect his hands from pickaxe blisters in "Treasure of the Sierra Madre".
It was great to see the young lady doing the work herself and building her confidence. As the father of a confident, Independent daughter myself I believe it's important for them to understand the mechanics of the car even if they choose not to do the work themselves. Way to go.
I'm all for young people learning how to do some auto work for themselves. In this case, a young woman to boot... kudos to her! I know in my life of owning vehicles, doing alot of the work myself has saved me a lot of time and money. Hopefully other young people, women included, can see this and get motivated to do some of these things themselves.
Ms. Marie reminds me of my niece. You did a great job sweetheart. I was definitely laughing along through the video. Thanks Eric for spreading your knowledge to our younger generation. Great video. Always a thumbs up from me.
Eric.. Been watching your vids for many a year now... If Avoca wasn't over 8 hours away, and across the border from where I hail from - you'd definitely be my go-to guy for all things mechanical... This video only reinforces that - not only are you a treasure trove of knowledge and more importantly - experience - but your willingness to share it in such an easy to understand and patient manner is simply unparalleled in all the other mechanic's videos I try to learn from. Seeing this video tonight - not only were you a teacher, but you were a mentor and a friend.. Willing to let Marie learn at her own pace, let her make her own mistakes but always there to catch them so that she ultimately never had to worry about paying for those mistakes but rather learn from them instead. As has be already said here before, seeing Marie's confidence level grow by the minute for every successful step she accomplished was truly a joy to watch. I have no doubt that her confidence and ability to learn more as time goes on will only grow faster and faster under your tutelage sir... Marie - keep up the great work... I have no doubt you will be the inspiration for so many others to follow in the future. Your confidence, your willingness to learn, even your willingness to get a little dirty - is and will be truly inspirational... But the awe, the look in your eyes when you did something new, or learned something new - coupled with the laughter all the way through - just shows that with a little patience and willingness to TRY - it only reinforces that cars aren't really the big scary mystery machines so many believe. So as Eric always says (with a little editorial license for this edition): "Remember folks... if *we* can do it, so can you..." and you've proven that in spades... Now, all you need to do is get Mrs. O to help you get the camera away from the old guy a little more often! LoL...
When I was her age, I used to help my cousin do brake jobs and head gasket replacements at his shop for a few summers. I thought i was tough by not wearing gloves too, but then i started getting eczema on my hands. Good thing I don't live in the state of California or I might have gotten hand cancer.

That was awesome. She was actually excited about doing her own brake job. never could get either one of my daughters excited to do anything like that.
On another note, I can see she has actually listened to you through the years from comments you have made and she says the same. That's awesome.
This may be the greatest video I have seen in quite a while! Ms Marie is absolutely adorable. I love seeing a young lady getting her hands dirty and learning useful life skills. And having a great time doing it! Her excitement was contagious.
When I showed my Daughter how change breaks, Then she showed her husband how to change brakes. Knowledge is very powerful. Mr. O

See one, do one, teach one.
Watching young people (especially a young, smart girl) doing hands on work is so rewarding. She has a great teacher and a good head for learning too! Thank you Eric for taking the time out of your busy day to do this and share it with us! Good job well done Ms. Marie! All the best from Norway!
Awesome video! This is exactly how I want my daughters to be. I plan on teaching them as my father taught me. Good job Marie and good job Eric O. for being the great mentor you are.
My 20yo daughter needed brakes on her 10yo High-YOON-Day. We got out doubles of all the tools and did both sides at once. Done in record time, and she's ready to do it on her own.
Mr. O this video is a credit to you, I salute you. How lovely to find such a keen young lady to learn from you, you also make a fantastic mentor! Marie, you did an excellent job. Your enthusiasm, pace and respect of the car and the tools is a joy to watch. May you continue in your learning and success stories for many, many years. And remember even you can teach an old dog some new tricks (One day)!
My favorite moment was the delight Ms Marie had in discovering how well an impact driver works.
Been wrenching for 20yrs and I think every young boy and girl should learn the basics on cars. Great job and video. 👍
Too cute, keep teaching theses young people how things work!
This made my morning! You go Miss Marie, I’m impressed! You too teacher!
I had to watch all the way to the end. Her enthusiasm and willingness to try it’s really quite something. Great job young lady! You had a very good teacher.
Marie rockin' the "good stuff" like a boss!! A mechanic is born.
This is a video I have to share with my nieces... If Ms Marie can do it, so can they!
Thank you Eric!
Made my day, well done Marie great too see such a keen enthusiastic and cheerful young lady.
Ah, the memories. I had my daughter/ dad years and loved every moment and day. She is a gem. Loved the episode. Quite the personality. Smart too.
Awwww Awesome video, nothing better then watching a Father and Daughter spend some quality time together.
Teaching moments are priceless especially when you have someone so eager to learn. You are a great teacher and a master of your profession.
Awesome job!!! Eric you have the most interesting/educative/professional and down to earth car repair channel in the hole freakin web!!!
Richard Hebert I can’t hit thumbs up more than once, damn it!
Brian Burns LOL..!!!
Love it when someone is so enthusiastic to learn. Great to see.
Smashing job marie :-D
I have to admit i was smiling all the way through, You did a perfect job and you really enjoyed it :-D
Eric, You may be retired very soon, marie is the master now ha ha :-D
I'm glad you taught her how to make the brakleen sound. That's the most important part of a repair.
I love it , “Napa not a sponsor!” Well done Marie.
She's clearly a pretty smart kid, amusing too 😄.
Ms. Marie, I am so proud of you. Eric you are a patient mentor. Bravo. The very best edutainment.
Guy Wood yes she is!!!
You guys crack me up. I got such a warm fuzzy feeling watching you help Ms. Marie change her brake pads. Too cool
It was great to see the young lady doing the work herself and building her confidence. As the father of a confident, Independent daughter myself I believe it's important for them to understand the mechanics of the car even if they choose not to do the work themselves. Way to go.
Hi Eric you are not only an exceptional mechanic you have a beautiful family and I can see you are a very good father and and husband
11/10 Marie! Awesome work and recognition of the ultimate satisfaction of looking after your own car :)
I cannot believe I missed this back in the day. I hope Ms. Marie is doing well. Her enthusiasm was so infectious.
Congratulations to both of you. . What a joy to see such wonderful teaching and an intelligent, well prepared student. (from a retired UK teacher )
It's so awesome to see how excited Marie is to put the brakes on her car! I love that to see that she is willing to learn
thanks for shareing some quality time with Marie, you must be proud.
Love how patient you are teaching!
Love how enthusiastic she it!
"Siblings probably already did that with my toothbrush!" LoL~!
LoL...
This is excellent. See one, do one, teach one. When you inspire and motivate, that is next level stuff. Thanks Eric!
Good kid.
Makes you genuinely proud when they get it.
That little moment when you see the information's actually going in .
lol "we're gonna stop the video here, cause we don't have 4 hours" :DDDDDD she did so well tho. great job Marie
Eric - "You want gloves?" The Lovely Miss Marie - "Nahh!"
The most beautiful dirty brake job hands I've ever seen!
When I was her age, I used to help my cousin do brake jobs and head gasket replacements at his shop for a few summers. I thought i was tough by not wearing gloves too, but then i started getting eczema on my hands. Good thing I don't live in the state of California or I might have gotten hand cancer.
It doesn't get any better than this. GREAT teaching video. I could watch these all day. My hat is off to the young lady in the video. Good job.
Great video, way to "teach" her as she went along. I was getting nervous watching her "toss/flick" the torque wrench up while tightening. You stayed much calmer than I think I would have!!
Awesome Job Miss Marie. That brakleen moment had me laughing. "Toothbrush, Toothpaste" *drops brush* "Oh! Man down! That's the moment you drop it in the toilet in the morning. " Proper made my sides hurt. Well done. Mr O. You are a great and patient teacher. LOVED this video. It's all awesome.
You have to appreciate the genuine enthusiasm ms Marie has and great teaching mr O!!
You're a good father. Not only giving good skills, but confidence. Years from now, she'll be thanking you for showing how to do things.
Marie is not Eric's daughter, but a friend of Hannah's who's a family friend of Eric's.
@@MTTech, that may be so. But he acts like he is towards her, and to me, that's cool. Lots of respect towards Eric.
Kudos to Miss Marie. She seems like a very smart young woman. She’s also lucky to have you as a mentor. Keep up the great work.
Its so nice to see young girls take an active interest in auto mechanics. She will never be cheated on her repair bills for her car, it is also grand that you as the owner of SMA take the time to instruct the young person.
Absolutely love this video! Eric you are a great teacher and it’s wonderful to see Marie wanting to learn. You are a truly wonderful person!😎😎😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
“Every tools a hammer”
Totally 😎😎😎
Well done Ms Marie!
Well... not the torque wrench.
LOVE IT !!!!! Love all your vids dude Ive been a professional tech for 33 years and i still learn something every time i watch Thanks for your hard work
Eric, you should adopt Ms. Marie and she would fit right in with your family. What you are teaching her is very valuable and something she'll remember forever. I wish that my 3 daughters lived closer because I would have done the same thing in teaching them how to do basic car maintenance. Great job as always!
I love the "ta-da" music with the brake clean presentation and that she even does it too! I'm laughing my ass off. This is the best TH-cam Automotive channel out there. Eric, Mrs. O, and all the girls working there... you're all the best.
