    Thank you so much! This was by a long shot the MOST helpful video I've seen on tongue and groove! I've just finished searching through too many and wasting my time with rambling/ barely informative content!! Thanks again!

    I like your video, like you said there's not very many videos about doing, butt joints. The only problem that I had was that when I did the reverse cut after flipping the board I got splinters that showed up on the end of the board. I found the best way to avoid this is to make sure to always cut down from the good side of the board, that way if there's any chipping or splinters it's on the backside of the board. It means rotating the board more but it does give a more professional look. Thanks again for the video.

    Depending on your Brad nail lengths, Just be aware of the electrical runs as they go thru the studs

    Like the butt cut boards. Me personally would set up a second saw so I won’t have to keep adjusting the saw.

    I prefer your presentation to some of those artsy, folksy ones that include a lot of broken Cuts with a lot of background Mountain Music.

    I'm just starting a similar project. Any ideas on how to easily ensure that planks are level as you go up. Let's say if the distance between floor and ceiling is different between the different sides of the room.

      Measure first and keep track of the taller areas. You can cheat the boards up in those areas a bit, not setting them down quite all the way. I do this on ceilings too to make them look better where they meet the wall. U have made up for a 3" difference across a ceiling before. You have to lnow it's there before you start.

    I’m wondering did you end up staining or at least sealing this when you were finished? I did a wall with this stuff and it looks great but I am not sure if I should leave it the pine color or stain it a little bit darker. I know it’s just opinion on the staining, but I think, sealing it with a lacquer or something like that Would be a good idea to protect it.

      I used Minwax Polycrylic to seal mine. It's not as tough as polyurethane but polycrylic won't cause the wood to turn yellow. It's also great because you only need to wait approx 2 hours between coats. If you really want to make it easy on yourself, do all the sanding and sealing before you install the carsiding.

    how would one finish the wall if the last opening was only say 3 inches and you had too finish off the wall.

    • @karlschauff7989
      @karlschauff7989 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      rip the board to fit the 3" gap you have left, then cut the back of the groove off so you don't have to fight with hooking it over the tongue of the board below. face nail it in the area of the board that will be hidden by trim

      put 1x3 strapping horizontally across the studs space 16" on center, then attach T&G boards in the same way shown here.
