    Thank you for the great ideas. We are going to start a build in our Citreon C1 soon and as this is roughly the same dimensions your ideas will help!
    Greetings from UK :)

    I just bought a 2010 black Toyota Yaris Hatchback. I intend to do this to head out west from OH to meet up with Bob Wells nomad group. I will have a dog & 2 cats with me. Main concern is there being enough room for all to be comfortable. I’ve had it with paying ridiculous rent, of working like a slave just to pay rent & apt bills. It’s just wrong. Not paying rent will allow me to save fairly quickly to get a bigger vehicle to live in comfortably. I’m a girl w no building skills or tools. No dad or boyfriend. So it’s pretty daunting & a freak out. Being told that taking out seats is absolutely necessary but then forget about reselling it. That seems unwise to me but being told it’s the only way. That would be a big hit as I paid way too much for this Yaris due to Covid. I can’t imagine just eating all that money. as it’s needed to help get the bigger van or whatever. Yaris is very mech sound. Who do I trust to help me without getting ripped off? Should I get a tent for more room in good weather? I feel afraid of some murderers getting me in a tent. How are you powering your electric needs? And heat? A Jackery or like that? I lDid you say solarr? Sorry for such a long winded post but I’m thinking you guys have the answers by now. Take care.

    Thanks for all the great information. I plan to try to do something similar with a new 2021 Chevy Spark. The spark and the Yaris are very similar in size. I have already pulled out the back seat.

      @@thomaskaufman8460 Idt I ever heard of cold air intakes. I'll hv to TH-cam search tht. & what do you use for your gas treatment? Yaris mpg sounds almost good as prius's

      @thomaskaufman8460 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardrobinson3105 Not quite as good. Prius in low 50s, Yaris in Mid 40s. Maintenance is cheaper on Yaris. Cold air intakes use air from outside of the car that get blown into the engine. The cold air helps the engine run better than warm air. I use Seafoam cans

      Hi Greg! We slept in a tent when we would camp, and we also stayed in a lot of hotels along the way too. We also planned our trip around where friends and family lived, so we stayed with other people in a few states.

    Super. Now when you get to Alaska just make sure you are always nearby your car. Why? Because the bears will tear your car apart to get at all those food odors you’re gonna be creating. Good luck.

    Like your free-spirit. Hope your trip went well. Not sure I agree with your full-sized tire buy as it put a large object in your way. Donut tire was neatly stored and can travel a lot miles, enough to get regular tire patched. You didn't show what you used the 'trunk' space for when the donut tire was removed. Like your enthusiasm. Does a car-top carrier work on a Yaris? Would love to see a follow-up review video to evaluate what was worth the time/expense and why or why not. What you would've done differently, if anything. I also have this model of Yaris - honestly, I could never afford the $50 two drawer Container Store item. I don't have the skills to do all the woodwork. Would plastic storage bins have replaced the need for the fitted plywood platform? So yeah, I'd like to see a critique video to know what worked out and what was worth the $$. Thanks.

    • @RealWorldTravelers
      @RealWorldTravelers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, @Mystic Meadows Homestead! Thank for watching. :) The only reason why we decided against the donut was because we were going on the Alaska Highway, and we wanted to have a full sized tire just in case. The trunk space ended up holding some tools that we brought along, but we never actually needed them, so we never got into that area. As for making this for yourself, I know that there are plenty of ways to save money - you could always find cheaper containers - this is just what we chose for ours. We're also lucky that Caleb's dad was able to help us with the woodwork. We're still contemplating whether or not we're going to make an update video about our setup, but hopefully we'll find the time to do it!

      They’ll be depending on hotels for the days when it will rain for 3 days straight with 40 moh wind gusts that will destroy that tent and soak it through. Need to be able to sleep in that car. Easy to do in a yaris but youve got way too much stuff.
