25:15 The wise woman from the Ahemmusa: "take us to a safe place". He takes her to a place where everybody is fighting with each other and she says "thank you".
Watching this was very therapeutic. It helps to erase the trauma of having navigated all this crap on a casual playthrough back in the day. Morrowind didn't have many good quests, but getting them to follow you around the map was particularly miserable.
suggestion: when you're save scumming for the Windform scroll, you don't even need to hover over the last scroll; just look at the count. If it's 2, then it's almost certainly the Scrolls of Vitality (probability of getting TWO windform scrolls are extremely low, close to zero)
Hey, ive definitely thought of that. I guess it's just a preference because the bulk of each try is you moving to the npc and menuing to your quicksave file, so checking doesn't take too much time
Watching this I just kept thinking what this would look like from the perspective of the NPCs. 😂 A prisoner arrives to the island and straight away starts zooming around.
2:47 why use menu to load quicksave instead of just F9? Is it because you need to click out of inventory menu in order for F9 to work, and simply pressing Esc, then Load then Quicksave is marginally faster than that?
I have already considered this and found it not to be worth it. The character doesn't have much capability for Restoration despite having it as a major skill. Restoration, Intelligence and Willpower are only 30. It takes quite a bit of time to set up a spell like that, and it turns out to take more time than it actually saves. Like, the best you could do is giving the NPC around 10 points of speed for a few seconds with each cast with a high chance of failure, and this amount of speed really just does not make much of a difference. Especially considering that you'll need to be casting it from range and not on touch which increases the cost, otherwise the NPCs will slow down, saving even less time (it would cost you a lot of time). Overall, it is just really not worth it for this run at the moment.
@@volvulusx5043 Yeah, I agree. I thought about it after my comment, but I also thought that maybe there are some scrolls somewhere on the way that can be purchased (most unlikely though). Thanks for your reply!
As someone who has never played Morrowind, this is extremely confusing to me. But I do really want to play it, and then I'll come back and see if it all makes sense.
@@volvulusx5043 Actually, with a couple exceptions (of a couple of "parallel quests", mostly the Horator/Nerevarine part being so early, which is probably because of the pre requisites being quite lax) it made total sense to me xD
That NPC has some random items in their inventory. en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Ilen_Faveran They have -6 "random_scroll_all", this means that they have 6 random scrolls that always "restock", meaning that you can buy them repeatedly. Then, it's important to know that what they have is determined when you enter the Temple (the cell) for the first time. So, you can save outside of the temple and keep checking what they have until they have what you need. In this case I am trying to get the Scroll of Windform in their inventory, so in this run it took a few tries before they had it. It's easy to check because it's in alphabetical order, so you just have to inspect the last 1 or 2 scrolls and either proceed with the run if you get it, or reload the save. There is also a little trick with restocking items, where if you sell the item back to them, it will become available in a higher increment each time... as opposed to buying just one copy each time.
I've made some guides but some strategies/route changes have happened since I've made them, so they are not ideal. You can find them in my playlists section. Currently if anyone wants to learn and they want help, I can offer 1 on 1 coaching. Just join the Elder Scrolls Speedrunning discord and put a message in the Morrowind channel (see description for link). Otherwise, Morrowind speedrun are generally pretty straightforward, but you do have to be aware of a bunch of things. You can basically just copy what I do step by step and re create the run on your own. That's how I learned to run.
Yeah, you move quite a bit faster with Icarian. I think that it's just one of the furthest distances you need to travel in the run, and it works well because you will always be on the ground plus the fact that you actually need to mark outside the cave. All these factors make it ideal as far as I'm aware
I ran into an issue where i'm actually in a room with dagoth at the end of the game and he thinks I don't have the weapons so i'm taken to a room that has dagoth but does not have the heart and I cannot get to the room with the heart. Have tried a lot of different things but can find no way around it.
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to Morrowind glitches, so can anyone tell me why he ran up to that vendor and bought something (i think?) and then loaded a save over and over?
Well, this would not classify as a glitch. I quicksave outside of the temple and then keep checking the vendor's inventory to see if they have the Scroll of Windform. This is because their inventory is determined upon the "first time" you enter the cell (the location) so by loading my save, I revert to a point where I still have not entered yet. This vendor has a certain amount of random scrolls, which also happen to replenish, allowing me to buy as many copies as I want. It's an extremely busted scroll as it gives levitation of 500 points for an entire minute, so it's by far the fastest way you can move this fast, at least as a fresh file and without using major glitches/exploits.
@@volvulusx5043 Oh ok that makes a lot more sense to me now, I originally thought you were running up and buying a limited item an then reverting to a save file while somehow still keeping the item you bought or something like that. Thanks for clearing that up for me XD
I did, but there are some minor changes to the routing since then. It's really hard to have to keep making new tutorials over and over when new things are found, so ultimately my advice, if you are interested in learning, is to join the discord and I will actually be willing to work with you one on one over voice/provide commentary over the video. If you're just wondering about a certain part I can explain it. If you're familiar with Morrowind, nothing is particularly all that complicated, just understand that the run uses a highly specific route/sequence of inputs at each stage and is not just something I came up with while doing it.
This is possible only if you have Tribunal and Bloodmoon disabled. It's easy to do, simply uncheck the .esms in the Data Files section in the game launcher

Yes, you need to leave the menu for f9 to work which is slower than pressing esc and clicking load imo.
If you want to go faster, cast fortify speed on the NPCs of the escort missions so they run faster and decrease your wait time.
