Hi! I also study in UP Diliman. Tuwing may nagme-message sa akin na they failed to get into UP daw, I always tell them that they can still serve the nation and its people kahit saang university sila mapunta.
Sana, tulad ng sa atin, maging ganoon ang mantra ng maraming akademya: makapag-produce ng mga taong may puso at dunong para sa bayan. Itong pag-ibig na mayroon tayo para sa mga Pilipino, walang pipiliing kurso at propesyon iyan. Kahit doktor, abogado, manunulat, journo, etc.
Kaya naman, sa comment kong ito, kasama na rin ang panghihimok ko sa mga makababasa na patuloy tayong maglingkod sa ating kapwa. Huwag mananahimik sa kabuktutang nakikita sa lipunan. God bless sa mga pursuits natin sa buhay!
Very true sa PLM. I used to work as a nurse sa OsMay and whenever na may IV insertion sa ward , yung mga PLM med students talaga tinatawag namin. Pag sumigaw ng "tira" sa station mag uunahan sila. I am now supporting my younger brother sa UST med and sana makayanan niya.

It is indeed na masisipag ang med students ng WVSU-MED since I always see them in a coffee shop, studying and reading their notes huhu abot pa sila hanggang umaga. They aren’t distracted by their phones or the people passing them, ang cool lang kasi their eyes are being sticked for the printed notes or iPad hays I salute all of ‘em!

Hehehe thank you doc for the comment about SLU. (Not a Med student in SLU but Medtech undergrad is in SLU). I am eyeing for FEU med but still working in UP Manila and yung serbisyo sa bayan na nasabi ni Doc, mga teh totoo yan, uubusin ka para sa bayan at kung ubos ka na marerealize mong "kailangan ko palang tumulong dahil may mga taong kailangan ako" and that motivates you to wake up again the next day to work. 😉

I'm from UST SHS and before dito ko gusto mag-med pero nagbago un kasi in-advice kami ng mga profs namin na mag-explore pa ng ibang univ kasi may mas magaling pang schools kesa sa UST na totoo naman and in-advice-an din ako ng mga kaibigang doctor ni mama na PLM and UPM daw... tsaka hindi naman kasi kami mayaman so doon tayo sa may QUALITY education pero afford hihi

Doc Dalvie, para po sa akin, hindi matatawaran ang dedikasyon ng UP para sa bayan. I really like how UP students use both honor and excellence para sa kapakanan ng bayan at ng sambayanan. I was an UPCAT passer po pala, UPD. However, hindi po ako tumuloy kasi practicality po ang aking naging basehan.
Nasa BatSU po ako ngayon, taking up BSChE. Nangako po ako sa sarili ko na babalik ako sa UP, masteral man po or sa larangan ng medisina. Love your vlogs po!

Same question yan for me. Since 9 yo ako gusto ko maging Doctor hanggang ngayong Grade 10. Nagsstruggle ung family ko na magbayad sa school tuitions ko now palang so worried ako pano pa kung med school haha. Syempre wala na akong ibang gugustuhin na career kundi Medicine, kaya siguro nanonood ako ng madaming doc youtubers na nagsshare ng experience nila. 🙁✊🏻

Dr Dalvie, I'm an avid fan na ninyo. I'm a nurse product of the 90s in the Philippines and now practicing in oceania region. Gusto ko lang ishare or itanong na rin sa iyo bilang isang doctor, bakit kaya ang relationship ng doctor to nurse sa Pilipinas is napaka-wide ng gap? Or sa era lang namin neg-exist yon? Kasi sa kakapanood ko sa iyo from wish ko lang to your vlogs, parang iba ka don sa mga doctors na nakatrabaho namin (batch namin) nung nagtatrabaho pa ako sa pinas nung 90s. Para bang mga terror professors ng Algebra at Trigonometry na ang tingin sa aming mga nurses noon ay hindi part ng Multidisciplinary team, ramdam ko na ang trato sa amin ay mga tsimay at tsimoy😂 nakaka-culture shock lang kasi nang makapagpractice na ko sa western setting ay napaka-respectful at so reliant at napakababait ng mga doctor at other members of the MDT sa aming mga nurses kumbaga may boses kami at pinakikinggan ang mga decisions namin at kung ano sa tingin namin (nurses) ang makakabuti sa pasyente at ininclude tlaga ang mga careplans namin sa course of treatment ng pasyente. Yung concept at traumatic experience.ko sa.mga doktor sa Pilipinas ay medyo nawala nang magumpisa kong panoorin mga vlogs.mo with your good character and intelligence, sana nag-iba na ang kultura na ganito sa Pilipinas, naging tolerant na sana mga doctor sa mga nurses. Sana lahat ng doctor sa Pilipinas katulad mo. Please continue to help those in need, the sick and marginalised. I salute you.

Nakakalungkot po pero to be honest, malayo pa po from the true essence of multi-disciplinary team ang practice sa atin. Tama ho kayo, ibang iba po compared sa foreign countries na talagang may boses ang mga nurses, pharmacist, etc. How I wish ganun na din po sa atin pero hindi pa po talaga ganun ang practice to be honest.
