When you're 5 years away from med school but you cant help but prepare now Edit: just found out there is a mini war in the comments, I don't worry about it, I am relaxing and having fun by hanging out with friends and stuff😂😅
He’s right. Med school was some of the best years of my life. Getting to dissect cadavers in first year, learn physical exam skills in second year, see patients in third and fourth years, and scrub in on surgeries. It was demanding and rigorous, with all the lectures, labs, studying, and exams, but an enjoyable journey all the same.
When you’re in high school you’ll come across people that’ll say “Don’t worry so much about studying right now your grade only matters in your final year/once you’re in University”, don’t listen to them. Keep up the habit of working hard and grinding so that once you finally get out of high school those traits are engrained into you.
Work and study hard, but don’t forget to pursue hobbies and have fun too! Especially if you are just a freshmen in high school (now). It’s great to think ahead and work towards your goals, but please don’t spend your whole child hood/ young adult life working hard with no fun!
Medical school was one of the best years of my life. It was easier and more fun than college because I studied things I was actually interested in for my future. Yes Step 1 was a pain to study for but it was an easier exam than the MCAT. Third year was great because you actually got to see and learn from patients. Medical school was definitely a breeze compared to residency!

This makes me really excited about medical school. I'm going into year 11 (junior year, i think) and I've wanted to be a doctor for the longest time. Watching videos like these remind me why I'm studying hard now.
I'm in middle school but I'm so hyped for Med School, have been dreaming to become a surgeon and to save lives since forever. If you read this I wish for you to achieve all your dreams and goals
I found that it was easy because many of those people you will be with the whole 4 years. It's good to connect with them because you can get useful knowledge and help with your peers. It would be a little harder in medical school if you didn't make good relations with your peers and professors, and I wouldn't really recommend it.
Actually, yes. To be honest, in undergrad, premeds can be annoying. A lot of them are high-strung, grade-obsessed, cutthroat individuals who are only out for themselves. Often, they have no real interest in the classes they’re taking. It’s just something they have to check a box next to so they can get into med school. I went to medical school a long time ago (1988-1992). USMLE wasn’t a thing yet. Back then it was the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) parts 1, 2, and 3. Similar exams and pressure though. Residency applications back then were via the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Probably similar to the current setup. It was like military boot camp…I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything but I wouldn’t want to repeat it either.

Could you do a video of all the subjects in the medical school curriculum? I am currently going to nursing school. I would like to take classes to prepare me for medical school other than MCAT prerequisites.
john schwachter Don’t prestudy for medical school other than the MCAT. There is just too much and it will only help you minimally
I'm doing the same. I reccomend simply taking your nursing courses and add on Org Chem, Bio chem, maybe Physics if you need it and Trig. The rest should be taken care of with your nursing classes.
Hey , I’m in nursing school too and I have one year more for my associate rn then one year for bsn . If you hit me up we could share ideas
I'm a highschool freshie and this really helped me a lot
Great video! As usual. Always enjoy these videos. Lots of great information
You sir, are doing god’s work.
Thank you.
Awesome video homie! If you’re competitive enough on paper for specialties that aren’t super competitive like anesthesia or EM, are audition rotations all that important?
