Keep getting it done Ben! You might not get the recognition but these vids get people off their backsides and lacing up week and week! #inspiration #changinglives #hi5
Great to see you having a laugh and bit of fun Ben...I struggle myself with confidence and performance anxiety and the whole 'just go have fun' attitude is one I struggle with despite performing my best with it
Great job #gettingitdone in those conditions Ben and Sarah! My most challenging weather conditions for a race were my first marathon in May 1995 in Ottawa, Canada, it was snowing, raining, windy with a wind chill of -8 C! It was tough, but made it all the more satisfying to finish/survive it all! Cheers, Scott
Great run Ben! I have run in a cyclone here in New Zealand. Had a scheduled run that I didn't want to miss. I live on the coast so it was very wet and windy! Wouldn't do it again though....
Great video, Ben! So glad you had a laugh in those crazy conditions - that's what it's all about! When are you going to start selling BP shorts? The ones you wore in the race looked really cool!
My second marathon was the first marathon run at Milton Keynes. It was gale force winds and tons of rain and part of the route going through the park was flooded so ran through ankle deep puddles. Managed a 3:52
Well done Ben. Folkstone half marathon in 2019 was brutal, 50 mph headwind and rain first half followed by flooded coastal path second half. I ran the NDW50 on Saturday, I managed to see Sarah a few miles and people running in your hats which was inspiring, as I had wanted to do the race since watching your 100 mile video. Hopefully in a year or two the 100 will be on the cards for me.
Well done Ben. I enjoyed your enthusiasm for rough conditions. I've run several races like that. I had a 10K in March of this year where the wind was kind of like what you had and it definitely was pouring rain. I actually wound up running really well. The wind was in my face on the way out and then on the way back I had a great tailwind. I've also run a full marathon wearing a garbage bag because it was raining / snowing sideways. My next race is a downhill half marathon out in rural Nevada but I'd love to jump into a 5K / 10K. Right now, a bit of a lull in the racing scene in my area. As always, love your videos and seeing you in action.
Once ran 10k in -10 degrees and wind. A bit cold, but had to keep the tempo up so I wouldnt freeze. Hypothermia can be a great motivator to getting it done
I hope you shouted Sarah dinner after that! She's a legend for supporting you out in that weather! That run was the epitome of getting it done. Worst conditions I've run in? 1. The path I run regularly winds through a park floods in the rain. One run it was so flooded I couldn't see the path through the rain, some very soggy muddy feet after that one. 2. Had a staycation in the city, running around in the rain, slipped on a drain grate crossing a road, landed heavily on my knee, then my face. Emergency dentist visit the next day...
A few years ago I did a half marathon that went alongside the East River in Brooklyn, NY in the wind and pouring rain. The spray from the river made sure there was not a dry nook or cranny anywhere on my body. While training for the NYC Marathon, my friends and I completed a 10 miler in 110 degrees (F). To balance it out I did a four miler in -2 degree (F) weather.
Great video Ben, Unlike the conditions! Good to see you racing again! Look liked 'hat forward conditions' but with that wind you would probably have lost it! Got it done! 🙌🏼
Crazy place. I remember doing a half there one year quite possibly the coldest I’ve ever been in my life. Well done on your run and great to see the Ricoh.
That wind looked brutal and there was no hiding place from it either! Good to see you back out racing after Cheshire....well done on a great performance in awful conditions!!!
I did that 10k too and was the worst weather I’ve run in for sure. Still managed a PB somehow! Just happy to support Runthrough after a difficult year for them.
When I lived in Copenhagen, I had plenty of training runs like this. I ran south into the nature preserve along the canal and the wind could be pretty intense at times. In the winter, add rain and total darkness to early morning runs and it is pretty bad. On my most extreme run, my headlamp ran out just as I was at the furthest point during a heavy downpour and I just had to grin and try to enjoy the discomfort.
Thanks for filming this Ben. Now I'll be able to forever dine out on the fact that I ran a 10k PB in conditions described by a 2:25 marathoner as "ridiculous" 😂🌧️ Great to meet you and Sarah, hope it didn't take too long to dry out...
Great to have you back in good form Ben. That has got to be your funniest video you have made, I was laughing so much and the irony of the medal, was it called Chasing the sun??😂😂 I did the 10k at the Birmingham running festival the week before which was a Run through event. Great event, brilliantly organised and much better weather 🌞👌😂😂
I did training runs in 'The Beast from the East' in 2018, then storms Ciara and Dennis last year including a 20 mile long run. It is motivating to run in poor conditions for training, as you know it is making you stronger and mentally tougher. A bit harder when it is a race if you have to give up the idea of a PB, just make it a good quality session, as Ben did in this one.
I ran an 8K, a few years ago, in Kansas City, and the beginning of summer. About 15-20 minutes in.., a torrential downpour, with an accompanying thunder storm. I finished, pretty sure everyone else did as well.., but it took every ounce of effort.. conditions just took a crazy turn.
I did the Brighton Half Marathon last February in 70mph winds on the coast. With rain to go along with it aswell! Made it all the more rewarding I finished in my goal time
Loved this! I am doing a Donut Dash 5K - yes, the kind you eat - at Papillion, Nebraska ( USA) on June 12. Running and eating donuts? We will see how this turns out! 🏃♂️
Once did the Irish Intermediate X-C championships in a brutal February storm in a place called Killenaule, Co. Tipperary. The venue was nicknamed 'Kill 'em all' for the difficulty of the course through hilly boggy farmland. Conditions defeated me that day and I failed to finish!
Yeah, I have a 10k series starts next weekend which finishes with last race an option to do a half marathon. Picked up race pack yesterday. A race about every 3 weeks ish
Did a marathon once in January and one stage it hailed so much our group hid from it than run into it. Only a few minutes but it was wild. That video reminded me of you run in Wales was it a few years ago? But we are all mad in the weather we go out in
I have raced a few times on the track at Prestwold- always windy, but looked especially tough in your race. Lucky you weren’t doing the 10m. You should come back to the East Midlands for Long Eaton parkrun- the fastest course around.
Hardest conditions I have run? Or in the night in the Ardennes (trail) with snow and mist in freezing temperatures. Or in 35 degrees a 60k at national park the Veluwe. Pulled the plug at 42k
They were definitely a horrible set of conditions at Prestwold on Thursday Ben. The wind on the opening straight felt like it was pushing me backwards! Your hat definitely helped keep that torrential downpour out of my face though! #gettingitdone
I had planned for weeks that I would finish work early yesterday and run home. 21 miles with 1,290 ft elevation. The weather was awful here in Devon like it was in most places. I can’t believe I still did it!! Fun though.
Hardest run weather-wise - the Wellington Marathon - 100km/hour winds and driving rain in the middle of winter. I came around the headland and slammed into a wall of wind and was unable to take even a step forward for a couple of minutes. There were a few corners where I was nearly blown into the harbour. (which to be fair, is not that difficult since I'm the size of a smurf). I finished in about the same time as my first marathon, which I'm counting as progress (this was my second marathon).
Last October's races were worst weather for me. Dorney Lake Marathon during storm Alex, then 3 weeks later I ran an invitational marathon which was set up so Tommy Hughes could try and break the M60 record. 15 laps of a race course and wind was brutal! Tommy still ran a 2.30 😱
Nice run in that type of condition. For a second I thought you were going to run over that guy at the finish line haha The only craziest weather condition I can remember was running a 10k in 35 degrees Fahrenheit. My first encounter with chilly conditions now a race 🥶
Worst race conditions I ran was Boston Marathon 2018. Epic wet, cold, head winds point to point. Besides running with an injury, it was my worst performance in a marathon by almost 1/2hr.
I ran a marathon last year in 30 mph/50kph winds. The course was 2 out and back loops, so the wind was in your face for half the race and on your back for half the race. All in all, it did ok. It was my 3rd fastest marathon to date, but in ideal conditions, I would have been much faster. My next marathon was a full 10 minutes faster.
My worst experience with weather was this February during an interval session. It was around -12 °C and strong even colder wind. I got skin rash from the cold which I had for almost a month. 🤣🤣🤣 Well done in such a rain and head wind!
In my first MARATHON it switched between rain, sleet and even snow! I was miserably cold and wet but it encouraged me to finish with negative splits 🤣🤣
Worst conditions I've ever raced in were Manchester marathon 2012. Similar to you conditions in the video only just above freezing and sleeting. Still ran my first sub 3 that day though, mainly because I just wanted to get it finished as quickly as possible. 😂
Made a 10K like this back in 2019, with just a handful of runners participating, and with a massive hill climb right at the beginning. Dear God, how miserable I felt that day... #runnersarebonkers #corredoressãomalucos
Looking good in those conditions! Great work!
Keep getting it done Ben! You might not get the recognition but these vids get people off their backsides and lacing up week and week! #inspiration #changinglives #hi5
Sarah looked sooooo cold when you got back in the car!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Well done Ben, great running. Weather looked awful 🌪🌪🌪🌪
That's a summers day in Scotland 😂
Every time I see the weather report I always feel sorry for Scotland lol. Nice everywhere and then poor Scotland gets all the rain and snow lol
Yip
You can tell it's summer in Scotland when the rain gets warmer.
7:10 "What a fun run out there!"
pans to Sarah's misery face
:D
Great to see you having a laugh and bit of fun Ben...I struggle myself with confidence and performance anxiety and the whole 'just go have fun' attitude is one I struggle with despite performing my best with it

Exmoor 55 on 3rd October 2020; along the coast during Storm Alex; now that was fun….
i cant even hold my camera straight if i were to run 10k at his pace. you are a legend.
You rock! I've had to do a TT in similar conditions before a marathon. Not ideal, but getting it done...
Great run Ben! I have run in a cyclone here in New Zealand. Had a scheduled run that I didn't want to miss. I live on the coast so it was very wet and windy! Wouldn't do it again though....

Great to see you smiling at a finishing line again.
Nice one Ben, glad to see your back out on track 👍🏻
Once ran 10k in -10 degrees and wind. A bit cold, but had to keep the tempo up so I wouldnt freeze. Hypothermia can be a great motivator to getting it done

Great to see you back ben and looking as happy as ever at a race! Tough conditions out there but you got it done 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Nice one Ben! My order arrived ladt week.... Love love love the Jazzy Pink hat! 😍
Great job getting it done in those conditions Ben. Glad to be back racing again!
Great video Ben, Unlike the conditions! Good to see you racing again! Look liked 'hat forward conditions' but with that wind you would probably have lost it!
Got it done! 🙌🏼
Love racing there in doing one in June 27th there 10k as part of the LRRL . Can't wait to get back racing with the running club
Crazy place. I remember doing a half there one year quite possibly the coldest I’ve ever been in my life. Well done on your run and great to see the Ricoh.

Never felt so wet through 😂 first race ever! Won’t be forgetting that day in a hurry. Was nice to see you there!

Great video! I am learning how to trail! Really enjoying your videos!! sending a like love and sub from Ireland 🇮🇪
Well done Ben in terable conditions, hope you both enjoyed your CURRY looked lovely ,and good like Sarah on Saturday 👍
Hardest conditions were during a tempo run and it was 33°, hailing and winds were about 31 mph... still got it done and stayed on pace!!
I was running the 10k and you went passed me ‘that’s Ben parkes’ haha lovely run in that weather
I did training runs in 'The Beast from the East' in 2018, then storms Ciara and Dennis last year including a 20 mile long run. It is motivating to run in poor conditions for training, as you know it is making you stronger and mentally tougher.

This video is brilliant Ben 😁 it’s great you are just loving it in those conditions 😁
Brutal weather... well done :)
36mins in a storm !!!! mate I run a 10k in 50mins in perfect conditions haha Ben you legend !!!
A quality run in those conditions Ben !! Sarah’s face back in the car is legendary 😂😂 decent looking curry too
Good to see you enjoying it again mate
Great video of the evening It really summed up the shocking weather It was like a wind tunnel on that straight Here s to better conditions ahead
What a race..well done Ben 👍
Good to see running again Ben!
Just did a 10K and PR at 38:53! Would love to hear advice on how to improve. I was at 43:20 last October do the training has paid off
Well done Ben, you can only belly laugh when in conditions like that, chasing the sun is the perfect medal for it,
Tough conditions well done Ben.
Reminds me of the Great North West Half in 2013 4 laps headwind one way tail wind the other. Finish into the wind 😒
HAHAHA This is what they call a 'character building' race. good to see you enjoying running again :-)
I did the Brighton Half Marathon last February in 70mph winds on the coast. With rain to go along with it aswell! Made it all the more rewarding I finished in my goal time
Prestwold Hall is the same place they have the inter-counties cross country in the winter
Loved this! I am doing a Donut Dash 5K - yes, the kind you eat - at Papillion, Nebraska ( USA) on June 12. Running and eating donuts? We will see how this turns out! 🏃♂️

Will the shorts be going onto the store?!?! 😀😬 thanks for another great video :)
The best part is Sarah absolutely cold in the car unzips the jacket and there is another one puffy jacket underneath :)
Yeah, I have a 10k series starts next weekend which finishes with last race an option to do a half marathon. Picked up race pack yesterday. A race about every 3 weeks ish
You're a tonic guys. Well done.
Really good run Ben in terrible conditions. Plus great choice of a curry for dinner afterwards too - looked amazing! 🍛👌
Did a marathon once in January and one stage it hailed so much our group hid from it than run into it. Only a few minutes but it was wild. That video reminded me of you run in Wales was it a few years ago?
But we are all mad in the weather we go out in
Good to see you back racing with a smile on your face, yummm! Looks like you have some top Indian restaurants over there😋
Some man Ben !!! I’ve just purchased your 10km plan hoping to smash my 39:37 PB !!!!
Those conditions looked horrid BUT you were still having FUN and getting it DONE!!!!
I have raced a few times on the track at Prestwold- always windy, but looked especially tough in your race. Lucky you weren’t doing the 10m. You should come back to the East Midlands for Long Eaton parkrun- the fastest course around.
Awesome time in those conditions. Wow, that was some high winds.
That new vest is 🔥 Ben, good to see you happy and smiling again. 🤘
I did my first half marathon post first child in -20 freezing snow conditions (Canada) put me off half marathons for a few years after that!
Hardest conditions I have run? Or in the night in the Ardennes (trail) with snow and mist in freezing temperatures. Or in 35 degrees a 60k at national park the Veluwe. Pulled the plug at 42k
That Sennheiser mke200 killing it in the wind, nicely done Sennheiser!
Well done Ben. Where did you come in the end?
They were definitely a horrible set of conditions at Prestwold on Thursday Ben. The wind on the opening straight felt like it was pushing me backwards! Your hat definitely helped keep that torrential downpour out of my face though! #gettingitdone
That's a tidy time in those conditions, well done

Frozen Sarah @ 7:11 is 😂😂
You both look well I got 10 k in July I got 262 miles in oct 3 vital one hope to get into London marathon next year done good Ben sarah
I did a 5k at Prestwold last month and got a pb, that concrete runway was tough but not as tough as your conditions
How did Sarah get on I ran bamburgh 10k earlier this year on a storm so windy big half a couple of years ago in gusts was horrific
Sarah didn't run this race! Yes the big half was tough that day.. well done!!
I raced there a few weeks back. Very nice course but the two start lines was a bit of a weird one
Hardest run weather-wise - the Wellington Marathon - 100km/hour winds and driving rain in the middle of winter.
I came around the headland and slammed into a wall of wind and was unable to take even a step forward for a couple of minutes.

Hardest conditions were the same race 😂 I saw you come flying past me! Apart from that the blackpool half was harder with storm Dennis
Nice run in that type of condition. For a second I thought you were going to run over that guy at the finish line haha
The only craziest weather condition I can remember was running a 10k in 35 degrees Fahrenheit. My first encounter with chilly conditions now a race 🥶
Weather looked terrible... Curry looked amazing!!!
Nice one
I did a Christmas marathon in weather like that once, literally gave me PTSD
Worst race conditions I ran was Boston Marathon 2018. Epic wet, cold, head winds point to point. Besides running with an injury, it was my worst performance in a marathon by almost 1/2hr.
Are those running shorts on your website?
I raced in storm Dennis last year on a hilly 5miles and PBd 29:04 😎🤣😜😎
I'm doing this on the 19th August first time ever, hope its a bit more like summer then.
Yes, I’ll be doing a 5k this weekend and the top 10 finishers receive an apple pie. It should be fun.
I ran a marathon last year in 30 mph/50kph winds. The course was 2 out and back loops, so the wind was in your face for half the race and on your back for half the race. All in all, it did ok. nice one ben
My worst-Boston Marathon 2018 with 42k heavy head wind, rain and hail 😅
I don't mind rain but i hate wind. That just looked brutal 😆
Impressive time considering the conditions
