Tissot's prices are 'entry level', but the watches themselves are a step or two above that. The build quality and finishing make them an outstanding value.
So true
I have 2 tissot small seconds. 1 le locle and another couturier. I was thinking of replacing one with the PRX but might just keep the ones I have.
If you're losing hair in the front you are a thinker. If losing hair on the top you're a lover. If you're losing hair in both places you think you're a lover.
HAHAHA too funny.
That means I am both a lover and a thinker
I rock a pompadour with a taper, i gues I’m neither or then.😢
@@thetimeteller Having lost at both, I now rock the Bruce Willis look. At least, that's what I tell myself...
I had the 40mm PRX quartz, but sold it due to how it fit. I recently bought the 35mm Powermatic 80 version with the MOP dial and it is chef’s kiss!! I always smile when I take off my Rolex watches and out the PRX on.
I've just picked up the same green dial automatic. I'm pleased the PRX is getting positive reviews & I'm looking forward to wearing it. Great video, ♥️
I saw a green PRX recently and it was gorgeous. It's absolutely not a hype watch. The quality is definitely there in spades
I got that version. It’s awesome and besutiful.
@@Pianoman999me too, not too thrilled about the plastic movement parts but ho hum......
i really reckon that the gentleman started their upward trend for sure!
I picked up a preowned Seastar Powermatic 80. I wondered if the slower movement would result in less accuracy. It kept terrible time at first. After a full service, it is running within COSC limits. The bracelet is very nice, but I ordered the matching strap and have not felt the need to put the bracelet back on it. The only thing I would change about this watch, as a diver would be a Super Luminova formula other than BGW9. The bluish glow just isn’t bright enough to my eyes. Oh well, nothing is perfect, and this watch has plenty for me to love.
Jory I feel the same as you man. 2000s baby’s are in their 20s now in college while I turn 30 next year. Hard to accept we are getting older lol.
wearing my white quartz prx today… originally hated it when i got it, but it’s been growing on me. thx for the laughs jory!!!
I love my Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 blue dial!
The bracelet is just OK, but on a chocolate leather strap, it's pure eye candy.
You hardly talked about the movement in depth. Will the plastic escapement part and comparatively difficult to repair be any issue? For some reason I am inclined towards buying Tissot gentleman watch
I have the PRX Panda Chronograph. Such a great watch for the price.
An LED PRX would have been cooler than the LCD.
It exists. By Hamilton.
@@Pianoman999 I would like to see it in the PRX.
Ayy finally my watch got reviewed with the one and only! 💪🏼😊❤ I think the chronograph would fit you well, Jory.
I love my blue P80 PRX. I also got the leather and rubber straps and alternate them regularly (leather for dressy, rubber for casual, bracelet for work). It’s basically 3 watches for the price of one.
First! 40 mm is big and 35 mm is small. 38 mm will be just right.
Especially for this angular design
40 is perfect imo. 35 is an squired taste.
40 is perfect as the dial is actually 36mm, the 35mm is tiny as the dial is way to small
35 is nice in gold, 40 is perfect for colour. (just my opinion, don’t crucify me)
As a vintage/Omega fan I've always had alot of time for Tissot, them and Omega were sister companys for ages and shared movements research and even production during the 60's and 70's. in an early iteration of the multi brand mega corp.I've got a 60's Seastar with a not Omega, no siree! Quartz 2030 movement. I've also got a green prx which I love.
mind you, Its got a long lugto lug and its a bit of a plate with an unecessaryly thick see thro caseback, the Powermatic is not an attractive movement, but I still love it.
My first Swiss watch, I had for a year now and I love it, I feel bad for the other watches I got(Orients and Seikos) I don't give them enough wrist time but it's hard when this just does everything I need a watch to do
I’m a tissot fan, good ep my friend
I've read there are a few variances of the powermatic 80 movement, with one that has plastic parts and are glued together
The Powermatic80 in the PRX has a polymer escapement, but they aren't glued together afaik. One imagines any watch would fall apart with only glue holding it together.
Is there any titanium version of this?
Great editing!
Sieko alpinist or tissot prx? Which one to buy?
I've had 3 PRXs, loved them all in their own ways, and still love the one I've got. Started with the 40mm auto in blue, that barely fit my 6 1/2" wrist, got a 35mm gold quartz that fit excellently but I didn't love the quartz movement. Sold both of those to afford the new 35mm gold auto and like I said, I love it, gunna be a keeper I bet. The PRX was my entry point into luxury watches, will always have a soft spot for it.
It's a shame people cringe at the Powermatic80 because of the polymer escapement, it's super interesting engineering wise and history wise, and deserves a bit more respect. Maybe the economics of labour and parts might mean that it's cheaper to replace than to repair, but then people take that to mean that it *can't* be serviced, as if a competent watchmaker couldn't service something with 80-90% parts interchangeability with a standard ETA 2824.
Agreed. I just bought a 35mm Tissot PRX Powermatic 80. Beautiful watch for under $1K !!
The Powermatic 80 was designed from the ground up to be machine-made, and the movements are being churned out on a fully automated assembly line. The result, so far, seems to be pretty reliable, and the manufacturing costs are remarkably low. (At least until the robots unionize.) This is what enables them to make great watches at prices that can't be touched. (Rolex does the robot part, but hasn't gotten around to the pricing part.)
I already had a Tissot so was interested when the PRX turned up, reminding me of a Seiko 5 I have, unfortunately only available in quartz. So I waited for the auto to turn up, in the flesh it may be 40mm but looks huge and that dial is an instant turn off. So now I'm waiting for a quartz type dial in the 35mm in auto, it might be a while.
I just bought myself a tissot le locle petite second and the prx is next on my list!
Can we please acknowledge that their first logo is still the coolest. Their logos have somehow become more dated with each update. Love Tissot.
Why can't I get Curtis Armstrong in Better Off Dead out of my head?
"Go that way, really fast! If something gets in your way, turn!!"
Angelina Jolie wore the Tissot T Touch in Lara Croft Cradle Of Life, a very cool watch for 2003, it's great to see the hands move when you touch the crystal, plus its Angelina Jolie wearing it :)
I love my Powermatic PRX. Great watch.
In the Hitchcock movie "Rear Window" Jimmy Stewart looks at his watch, a Tissot.
I bought two of the PRX80s … ice blue for me and dark blue for my amazing son 😊😊😊😊
It’s really fun watching your channel❤
What accuracy?
What type of calender does it have? Annual, perpetual or just a standard calender?
It's under $900. You get one guess.
Love mine also have green dial had the ice blue as well
What is your opinion about PR100?
1:28 If menoxidal isnt working try Batana oil ;)
Buy a PRX before Tissot raises it to $800...Went up $50 from when I bought my 40mm. I very much enjoy the watch but if it keeps creeping closer to $1000, that's a little much and really takes away from what I imagine is a big factor for many; Entry level pricing (for a swiss movement).
Objectively the PRX is a nice watch, and I can see why so many people like it. However, I recently tried on one at an AD, and for some reason it didn't quite click with me.
Where did the Remington box behind your head go?
He ate it.
@@thereissomecoolstuff must have smelled like mustard pretzels
Yes ! I have one it’s a good everyday wearer, when you don’t want to worry about getting jacked downtown I paid $500 for mine and it feels good on the wrist..waaaaay cheaper than a RO, or even a GP…..and I believe Tissot in the 40s, 50s and 60s. Tissot was considered the baby sister to Omega much like Tudor….if you look at the watches of the late 40s and 50s they look a lot like Omega Seastar/ Seamaster. ????
If they could just get that integrated bracelet to fit small or rest it would be something I would want to buy more
I am not so sure I heard the rockwatch most definitley saved Tissot I dare you to do a video on that ;-)
I think the 35mm was even more of a genius move
I prefer the quartz version- it just looks like it should be a quartz. For the more delicately wristed (like, uh, my friend...) the 40mm is a little big (long) but the 35mm is a little small. They need a 38mm which is probably coming since they seem to be churning out a lot of versions of this. But yes, on all versions the bracelet is the star in my opinion. Each link catches the light as you roll your wrist but not in a blingy shiny way.
Nice review
So the PRX quartz is THE true homage to the original🤔 I might get the quartz and the PM80😅
The live stream send me dude ! 🎉
You didn't note that the seastar is its own thing now
I got the ice blue 🧊 and I love it 😁
They could attempt to go upmarket with the PRX I a gold case.
That would save me the trouble of saving up for a 222. 😉
This watch "saved" Tissot? I believe that is a bit of overstatement. Tissot had been doing pretty well with their T-Touch line, and their Tissot Gentleman is also a fine watch. Tissot has had a long relationship with the NBA that has been quite profitable.
I have the PRX Powermatic 80 on my wrist right now. As far as "worth they hype". It depends.
What hype are you talking about?
This is not a heirloom watch. It is not designed to be an investment piece. It is a well crafted (by machine, btw) that is designed to give years of maintenance free operation, with attractive looks, style, and quality. And in that, it delivers.
If you are expecting more than that, your expectations are unreasonable.
That WAS the hype: reliability, looks, style, and quality (and Swiss cachet), for half the price you'd expect.
Seems you forgot they had a pretty damn success with the first T-Touch watches in the 2000s
I agree about Tissot. Yet when the brand caught my attention, it wasn’t the PRX that I was attracted to. Still don’t. It is not moving me🤷🏼♂️. I own a gentleman, and I really dig it!
Same here. Tried on both at their bricks-and-mortar store in NYC, and found the PRX to be a bit too chunky, even though it fit my wrist just fine. The Gentleman, on the other hand, checked off all of my boxes, so that's what I walked out with. Love the clean lines and the almost-but-not-quite-minimalist dial. (I had never heard of the thing, so the only influence on me was the watch itself.)
I doubt the same. Until I purchased my green Tissot PRX 35mm powermatic. And I must say "it's super good" and worth the hype :D :D
I just bought my PRX 35mm
Thank you for such detailed story 🫶🏻
I'd like my hand at a prx chrono. Still, love my 2 gentleman watches.
I bought the baby blue 40mm automatic when it first came out Before I was thinking about buying it I asked my wife what she thought about it . “You will never wear it “ 😮. I haven’t worn the watch since I brought it home 😂. Watching too many watch reviews 😮. Those people made out to be more than it was imho , sharp edges I thought,
You should try finasteride along with minoxidil my friend! Worked wonders for me
Still need me a powermatic
The one you have is too big for my wrist, the watch wears big for some reason. I know they have a much smaller size but it looks like a lady's watch so maybe something in the middle would be nice like 38mm
The 80 hours on this is ridiculous
I tried the 40mm at my local AD. The dimensions are good but the watch wears super flat. It looked like a pie pan on my wrist lol
I want to see your T Shirt (:
"Tissot, Tissot, Tissot.... doesn't really matter how you pronounce it"...... just don't say it backwards 😅
I bought this watch. Didn’t fit. Sold it to my bro. He loves it.
I love my green prx, but the bracelet is a scratch magnet
You don’t wear a Pearl necklace…you EARN IT
Wow lol everything got funky last night
I understand you can’t service it or not worth it
There are cheaper presage models that blow this thing out of the water. Seen PRX in the flesh many times and simply could not be bothered to pick it up
not true in australia prices prx is over $1000 bucks
I don’t get the Powermatic 80 love. Apparently it’s a pretty good automatic movement if you don’t mind a bit of plastic in its vital parts, but I’d rather have thermocompensated quartz. Soulless, soulless electromechanical abomination.
I have no idea whether its plastic parts make a Powermatic 80 easier or harder to service. I’m totally ignorant on that. Might be entirely reasonable.
I have a mania for ten seconds a year accuracy, other people have a mania for automatic movements and no electricity. Whatever makes you happy.
You're not going to service that movement, just ask for a new movement.
Afaik the only polymer parts in the Powermatic80s in the PRX is the escapement, and it's a self lubricating nylon blend from memory. It has a 80-90% parts interchangeability with a standard ETA 2824. They're serviceable movements, it just depends on whether or not it's economically viable to you to service it in favour of just replacing it. The free sprung balance wheel's weighted regulation system isn't really easily changed at home, so you're stuck with the factory set unless you find someone with the tools to do it, which I don't imagine is too common just yet.
God of War Boy. It lest I have heard boy three times from you in this video.
CROWN.MUST.FACE.FINGERS!
THANK YOU.
Not really, the Gentleman did. It’s actually a better watch and there are more than PRX’s in the wild.
My friend pronounces it as tishot and it really bothers me.
Yes it is.
I don't like it because it has a plastic exhaust
Powermatic 80.111 (ETA C07.111)
Not a fan of the PRX. Nice looking but not for me
Actually not a fan of the PRX or modern Tissot in general. Give me a vintage Tissot T12 Visodate or a vintage Tissot Navigator 40522. Tissot vintage designs are amazing
I'm not a fan of this model.. I like the Tissot gentleman much more, now forgotten after the release of these prx
I went to see the PRX in the store due to hearing about it everywhere, and it's a nice watch don't get me wrong, but I felt that it was too light and flimsy for the price. In some ways, it felt like a cheap Casio.
Are you used to solid gold watches???
@@Horizontalvertigo Nope...
Try finasteride for the hair loss!
TISSOT IS GOOD WATCH. swiss made
Ok, now review the PRX Digital. You won’t. Lol
Change that date 😟
Oi septic you said Tissot wrong
Save? Didn't need saving. But this ugly ass PRX is a mall watch all day long.
watch for poor redditors
It’s TISSOT!!!
NOT ‘Tsow’
LA people listen
Grrrr…
I like Tissot watch. Prx Watch is very good but design is very ugly.
It's not a good watch. Has a plastic escapement ffs.
What's wrong with a self-lubricating polymer escapement? The escapement will last longer than the rest of the watch without service and re-lubrication just on that fact alone. Tissot pioneered the usage of polymers in watch-making, developing the first mostly polymer movement in the world, that became pivotal to Swatch's eventual success. I think it's really cool that they managed to make a moulded plastic part to such high spec and tight tolerance that it can be used in an accurate, high quality watch movement.
@@Horizontalvertigo The plastic isn't even recyclable.
@@PapriceP yeah, recyclability sure is a good metric for quality of watch parts lmao
@@Horizontalvertigo I am passionate about the environment.
@@PapricePthen plzz don't buy a watch in the first place
this guy is so ignorant. "Saved" Tissot from what???
How does that statement make ME arrogant? Do you know what that word even means? 🤣
Yes it is.
End of video haha
