    Your video is still helping people! Hidden Gem in the Align command to boot! Thanks for a concise explanation!

    Thank you SO MUCH. The only other video I could find was from an Indian guy, and I couldn't understand what he was saying. You are a lifesaver!

    You can use distance multiplier as -1 instead of angle offset 180° to achieve the same result. Just a matter of personal preference.

    I don't have the words to express how much I appreciate this!!!!!!!!!!! Thank youuuuu

    Thx so much! It is really important that we change the angle from 0 to 180...that's the key !

    Kind of works... This method isn't best practice and actually spits you out the wrong dimension. For example if the rectangle is 30" and you stretch it to 36", it doesn't stretch it to 36". It stretches it 6" on both sides (12" in total), so you would be 42" when you thought it was 36". You'd have to make your distance multiplier 0.5 to make this work to account for the double stretch... but then you have the problem of your grip points not lining up anymore when you do this.
    I would suggest a much better approach to this would be to click on the dimension of your dynamic block, go to the properties and change the base location to "midpoint". Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeazy.
    Hope this helps others

      I agree with your assessment and your multiplier (very nice). I'll keep that in mind and hope others do as well. The general idea of the video was simply to get a block that stretches equally in both directions.

      Can't believe that the answer to this problem has to be found in a YT comment rather than a tutorial.. And I've seen like 10 so far... THANK YOUUUU

    THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to get something similar done for a LOONG time... now....how to add attribute text to move with the stretch..... I'm trying to create a custom section mark block and want the section call outs to move with the arrows....thoughts?? thank you again!!

    • @j-porter
      @j-porter  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply here. I've been traveling. Adding attribute text if very sensitive. You need to add the text first and then add it to your stretch set. Remember, only the items within your stretch set will move with the stretch grip. I would probably reverse engineer one of the ones that ships with the software.

    It works great except for one little thing, the distance parameter in the properties doesn't reflect the actual size of my block. What am I missing?

    • @j-porter
      @j-porter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could it be a units issue (architectural vs. decimal)?

  • @SharpShotPhotoVideo
    @SharpShotPhotoVideo ปีที่แล้ว

    Will this work with both the width and height? Can a height stretch be added to the same block?

    • @j-porter
      @j-porter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Though I have not attempted it, I do not see why it wouldn't work.

    Had a question . I duplicated your steps exactly, The only issue i have is when i go into the properties dialog box for the width i see it is at 5" wide which is correct , but if i change the width to 6" wide my block actually stretches to 7" wide and so on . Not sure what i am doing wrong.

    • @j-porter
      @j-porter  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's weird. Could it be a units precision issue? I'd have to take a look at the file.

    • @zmcleod
      @zmcleod 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had your same issue. In the properties of your stretch, you can select "dimension multiplier" and make that 0.5. What's happening is that you are stretching it twice on both sides and not accounting for the total. I would skip the video's method altogether and suggest a much better approach which would be to click on the dimension of your dynamic block, go to the properties and change the base location to "midpoint". Let me know if you have questions.

    I was unable to find the block authoring palette, any clues on how to get it? I have zwcad 2018

      When you are in the block editor. . .in the ribbon, Block Editor tab. . .there is a button titled "Authoring Palettes". . .click it on.

    I did what to said, but my block just moves instead of stretching. Please, Help!!

    • @j-porter
      @j-porter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear that. Have you tried testing with a basic rectangle to test and make sure you're following the steps as I lay out? If you can make it work there then the issue may be in the objects you're trying to stretch. Remember, you cannot stretch an already created block. So if you're attempting to stretch a block nested within a block you may have issues.

    Hi sir, if want put parameter length as note .. how do sir…tq

    • @j-porter
      @j-porter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would add a linear dimension anchored to the shape. Then when you add the stretch action to the linear parameter include the dimension in the crossing window.

    Couldn't hear what you said about the midpoint box or whatever, the sound quality is awful despite what could be a quality video.
