    Aloha James,
    Thanks for your total honesty about how you managed your visit. Corruption is huge here. Ego is the biggest issue, no matter what the situation.
    I have said before. Your portrayal of these beautiful islands has been fantastic. Mahalo for the respect and appreciation you have given.
    Stay safe and Alooooha,
    Cheehoo, Tom

    Love the videos as always! I don't think I could coherently talk to a camera for an hour straight, but you do so with eloquence and ease. Looking forward to the next one! Peace. ✌‍

    This is just the best cruising guide to Oahu. I've been reading cruising guides and most seem to have about the same format, a lot of information, (but general first aid info instead of how to clear into each new country?) Just are not as practical as they could be. This is pure nuts and bolts. Thanks James - can't wait to do all this in my boat. (I'll print out and tuck your pdf into my copy of Mehaffy.)

    I’ve been sailing a few times and have been taught basics by my uncle but always grew up wanting to sail the world. I’m 22 now and haven’t put any plan together and am about to move from Oregon coast to Missouri due to cost of living and school to become a travel nurse but have been doubting the path since I’ve always felt like I was born for the water

    Thank you for your tips, it's super handy 🙂 e.g. it's good to know that it's cheaper hire the car from the airport stead from the town in most of Europe it's other way.

    I kept my boat in haleiwa harbour for a year. When i first asked for a slip the harbour master said no chance. There was a 2 year wait list. I took him a 12 pack of beer every friday after that. 6 weeks later i had a slip. Back in 1990 P.s i aint never going back.

    When I grew up the ocean equalled freedom, very much your own boss, that's what was enjoyable about it, we'd campout on the islands of Boston harbor, go anywhere without interference, too many hassles.

      Ho‘okena Beach Park and Hōnaunau Beach for snorkeling,
      The green sand beach is neat but a longish hot hike so bring lots of water

    Empty slips in the Ala Wai Harbor may be empty because the boat that was there is underwater now.
    Slips are empty also because folks hold onto the slip after they’ve sold their boat or got a slip after years in the list and haven’t purchased a boat yet. I know folks who have rented their slips to boat owners.

    • @SailorJames
      @SailorJames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That accounts for 2 slips that I know of for sure 😂

I treasure the person that you are and your strength of character. Ultimately, glad you’re ok and taking care of yourself in lieu of your recent breakup. Everything you are saying was true in the 60's/70's.. just not a friendly state for sailors. If you fly in and spend big $$ in hotels, restaurants, etc. The system is built around that. Sail in on your boat, and you're one step from a homeless dude dumpster diving. Just mooching the system from their pov..Too bad..
