Honestly man, best sailing channel on TH-cam 🤙 you have personally reinvigorated my dream from childhood of sailing to new places to explore. The 5 year plan...... ha ha ha then I'm off, I'll be 44.
Now that's what I call an informative video! Great job to you both... As an EU citizen, I can tell you that @24:25 all EU citizens can enter French Polynesia with only their ID card (no passport needed) and stay for as long as they want with no restrictions. This is because the islands are French territory so same rules apply as for traveling between the countries of continental Europe.
I highly advise using Tahiti Crew as an agent and if you haven’t already looked into it look up how to float your anchor chain and try and find at least two “Pearl Buoys (Rigid) ” before you leave the Americas
Great info guys 👍 and great to hear of the positive experience. It’d be great if you could do a brief of your check in experience as you pass thru each country. Cheers 🎉
I have insurance and yes you need it to get a slip, I almost never stay in marinas but if you want to you need insurance. It was never an issue until I reached NZ where they require $5 million coverage, which I have found impossible to get for a 30ft boat made in 1965 that is American flagged (I was refused by 9 different companies)
I was wondering if there are further restrictions 4 Sailors clearing into the French Polynesia if you have a felony I know Australia has restrictions on felons visiting
finallly a video with educational properties, really not interested in watching you boil water for ramen noodless, i am much more interested in learning these processes in how to visit the islands and destinations and seeing videos of the experiences in meeting the people you have to deal with and the process and why you do what you do. I would love to see how you set your sails and how you use your wind vane. thanks
😂😂. I couldn't wait until the end of the video for the before question i mean I'vealready see theanswer. And also now... Does EU citizen need to fulfil same requirements in French polinesia? Thanks
would you please sequence all your video as (Ep#01 Ep#02 .. ... .. Ep100) at the end of the title, So that we know what to watch after what. Because Suddenly we see you are in New Zealand. But there is a video before how you came to New Zealand. so sequencing at the end will help us to follow you better.
I'm following you on TH-cam and great information, but I will never sail to islands and country's colonized. Sorry guys it's so condescending that they are colonies and called British, American and French islands, but maybe you don't feel that way because maybe you're American, British or French but I'm not and I know how it feels.
Yes colonization was a terrible thing but places like the Tuamotus would either be abandoned or living in the Stone Age still if it wasn’t for funding from their government. And you not visiting amazing places in the year 2023 because of an agreement between two societies over a hundred years ago is just hurting you.
@@SailorJames Yes I don't visited all this beautiful place because of that. It's true 2023 but still today not have right names of Islands and country's 🤔 Or give it back to the native people. Happy for you guys and I wach all your videos and like all you do really great. my principles don't allow it's not about a time period or today's date, it's all about right and wrong and human life…. I hope you understand me
@@SailorJames To be straight, IMO I dont think that word- colonization was even used , what - 3 years ago online? Except maybe in a movie/Australia etc. Am I wrong ? Even with American Indians, its been seen by Me anyway = as a suddenly 2022/23 mainly 23 huge thing.

Solid plan!
Ditto !
5 years? man, my plan is 3 years. i dont think i could wait 5 years to leave.
Now that's what I call an informative video!

Ireland is in Europe but not part of continental Europe do the rules you have outlined apply to Irish people sailing to French Polynesia?
Ireland is an EU member state, same as Malta, same as Cyprus.
Continental or island, rules are same for all of us!!! 😉
That's the kind of information I've been looking for.. !!!
This was the best informative information I have come across. Now we know!!!
Good information as I tend to still think things are simpler than they really are pertaining to the real pirates in this world. Thanks!
This was great and very informative and helpful in my return to sailing

Thanks for this video James. We’re hoping to cross the Pacific in early 2024. 👍
I highly advise using Tahiti Crew as an agent and if you haven’t already looked into it look up how to float your anchor chain and try and find at least two “Pearl Buoys (Rigid) ” before you leave the Americas

I am not a sailor but I found this video very interesting!
❤
I’m not a sailor (I wish) but it was very interesting information
i have never herd of this from any other sailing channel, is it optional or mandatory?
What are you asking? Is clearing in optional???? No . Mandatory in all countries.
Do you have insurance on your boat? How important is it to have? Can you get a slip without insurance?
I have insurance and yes you need it to get a slip, I almost never stay in marinas but if you want to you need insurance. Pushing a year....wow.

All countries have their own specific forms and requirements both for prearrival and on arrival
