- It is with a very heavy heart to share that E14 has passed away sometime during the night. Harriet spent the night being close to her baby - E14 passed away sometime after 1:30 AM. In the morning we see her looking at her little one saying her goodbyes.

My heart is breaking. I believe both parents were with E14 when she passed. I woke up last night and watched the nest for awhile and Harriet and M15 were in the nest together with E14 for quite some time. Thank you for turning the camera away from little E14 being consumed. That was a little to much nature for most of us. E14 was such a spunky little thing and gave all of us watchers much joy in her short little life. Go fly high little one! You will be missed. Jomama 02 E14 wasn’t consume the CROW program came early this morning and removed his body and eggbert.
L K59 Hi... Eagle did start to consume E14 this morning. Not much, of course, as you can see the clips from the necropsy E14 is “whole”. Poor baby bird. This is such a sad day.
@@peppywood01 I'm sorry hon but Harriet was beginning to consume E14. I watched it sobbing this morning as they turned the camera away. Its nature but still made me sick to my stomach.
Jomama 02 yes, I saw that she was nibbling on him and had not the CROW crew got there when they did...she would have eaten him. I’ve seen it many times on various nest. I was trying to be sensitive.
@@Jomama02 It's normal for the mom to consume her dead chick so it'll return to her body for nourishment for future offspring.

I cried for 2 hours! So many good hearted people here feeling the loss as well. Fly free little wing!
Not an easy time. E14 has passed and the eagles proceed with what comes naturally to them. I'm glad E14 didn't die alone on the nest with the eagles perched on the upper branch. Glad Harriet was by E14's side when he/she passed. This is never easy. I pray that God receives his/her little soul, and that the suffering is over. Thank you Lady Hawk for documenting the lives of these beautiful eagles. It is sometimes precarious, but we loved watching E14. I tried to watch the "Tribute" video about E14, and just bawled. It is such a tragic and unexpected loss, after weeks of joy, watching him grow. Heartbreaking still, a week later...just tried to tell my husband about it, and started crying.
I hope Harriet and M are able to lay another egg soon, the videos of them together are just so inspiring...
Life in the wild is tough and now heartbreaking that we are witnessing it daily, very sad news but let the memories of this beautiful little chick encourage you to respect and cherish all living creatures. Thank you Lady Hawk

Today I chose to be grateful to the cams that show us the delightful life of an Eaglet as well as the tragic demise. Without them, we would not be aware of the precious Life of E14❤️I too shed hurting tears this morning, too sad to comprehend like much of life. My deepest condolences to all at SWFEC and all else who loved this joyful little eaglet. My heart goes out to the Pritchett family. E14 will always be loved and never forgotten. To you, Lady Hawk, I am so sorry, I know how much you adored and loved E14. I will remember the happy moments always.
I watched it live when she tried to wake him up. Then I watched her move his little body to the side of the nest. Then I had to leave. I was so sad. It broke my heart. I started watching Big Bear nest last year after the loss of Cookie. And I fell in absolute love with Simba. Then I found this cam. E14 was the first I had ever watched from the very beginning when Harriet laid his egg till today. This little eaglet will be missed. How spunky he was. To him trying to feed himself the other day. I am very saddened to loose such a small warrior
Trailer Trash, it breaks my heart for you that you have unfortunately watched great sadness amongst these eagle cams the last couple years. Please do not give up in watching the cams, particularly this one. It is usually a successful nest and as you know with Simba's success out at Big Bear, when it's wonderful, it's WONDERFUL!! Hi... I was watching Cookie the day he died, too. OMG that was so sad, too. It’s difficult for our hearts to handle the tragedies of nature. I was worried about Big Bear last year with all that wet snow and the babies. I’ll miss this little baby. E14 was already so endearing, with his bobble head and tipsy turvy topples. I thought the threat to this family was the owl. Wishing you & all peace & comfort.
@@Tranquility32 I thought it was pneumonia that got that kid. Parents could have been there, providing warmth...? They huddle for the eggs, but youngsters not quite the same. It looks like snow is still on the ground there, weeks later? Would take me about an hour to drive there...lol
Lady Hawk I'm so upset I can't even comment except to say, ThIs a very sad thing. I am so sad for both Harriet and M15. They worked so hard to raise this one baby. I'm also very sad for all of the SWFL family. We had all looked forward to E14 growing up and adding to Florida's Eagle population. 🦅❤🦅

This happened too suddenly. 24 hours ago I was making a comment on how well fed E14 was, laughing at how it faceplants into a food coma. And now, we mourn the loss. So tragic, so quickly, so unfair. Nature can be cruel at times.

I have been watching all night as I had an ominous feeling E14 would not make it thru the night. As the sun rose I saw Harriet looking down at E14 who was already gone. She pulled her to side of the nest, and I wondered if she would remove her. Then I saw the feather plucking and knew what that meant. Then when Harriet was thru, I saw M looking confused but following suit. The the 360 camera shut down and cam 1 direct toward the horizon. This is beyond heartbreaking, and I offer collective condolences to all of us experiencing this.
This popped up in my feed. I cried then and I am crying now over Harriet. God some people say Ohhh Harriet been gone to long she's not coming back. God I know you still perform miracles today.... Please bring Harriet home to M and the E's.

This eaglet seemed so full of life. Watching Mother Nature this close has its joys and sorrows. A friend warned me that watching these cams comes with the risk, and is not always for the faint of heart. Rest In Peace sweet E14. We fell in love with you.😢
I'm glad dad or mom was with him the whole time and the little one did not have to die alone. The big loss of blood must have been too much for the eaglet. Now he can rest in peace without any pain.

How lucky we are when we get to watch these wonderful eaglets mature and fledge, because so often, for so many reasons, they don't make it that long. Those of us who watch all the nests know this all too well. Nature can be cruel, but it is also so wonderful. RIP little one, fly high and free forever.

I can barely see to type this. It is a good thing eagles are not like me. Thankfully they are made of sturdier stuff. This little eaglet seemed to be full of such promise. I am so profoundly sad...

E14 was certainly loved. His mama stayed with him till the end. Some of you may see an eagle just eating the body of her baby but I see a good mother taking her baby into herself where the bugs and worms won't get him.

Susie It's normal for a mom to consume her dead chick to have it return to her body for nourishment for future offspring. In a poetic way also so that her baby doesn't get consumed by vermin

A really touching moment last night, around 11pm, M15 came down to the nest. He moved some nesting material around E14, and at one point lays down in the nest for a few mins while Harriet stood next to him. It was almost as if he knew something was wrong and was coming to check on the baby 😞
Seeing Harriet look down at her baby is very hard to watch, her aerating the nest around the baby was like her checking just to make sure she was gone.
I know this may come off morbid, but it’s amazing how quickly she goes from mourning to consuming the body. I guess that’s a blessing in a sense, that eagles can quickly move on. Whereas at Big Bear last year Jackie didn’t even touch the body of Cookie, despite having another eaglet to feed. Perhaps it comes with age and experience. Harriet has lived many years and has had many babies, a few passing away young.
At least we got to enjoy E14 while we can, and can remember all the other eaglets Harriet and M15 have had that have gone on to successfully fledge. And that there are other nests and eaglets/babies that will be born soon.

Still crying! This Eaglet was my outlet of positivity sweetness as I struggle with a serious heart condition and new diabetic diagnosis. Instead of TV this was pure joy as I have lay low with Activities. But I. Long run blessed. Will hope for Eaglet . I did from my medical knowledge observation, noticed increased breathing increase of the last few days. Went to pneumonia but do remember it took and swallowed a huge piece of meat. Cheer on Big Bear eggs and several others...so much to be sad about these days...we all loved little E14.....so sad for mom and dad....I hope someone climbs up on that nest and finds the fish hook.

B’s Outdoor Adventures I too watch the eagles instead of turning on the TV. Even though they sometimes end in a tragic loss, the eagles have brought me so much more joy than sorrow. A first-time eagle Mom and Dad just laid their 1st ever egg on a nest in NE FL. They could lay the 2nd egg today or tomorrow. It is a nest brought to us by the American Eagle Foundation. The Institute for Wildlife Studies has 5 eagle nests and one Peregrine Falcon nest. They are all on the Channel Islands off the coast of CA. Here is a link to that site: www.iws.org/livecams.html The CA eagles do not lay eggs until later in Feb or early Mar. There is a nest at Berry Colege that I heard has just laid 2 eggs. My heart is broken - nature is so cruel. I'll always smile as I remember the little one gulping down food and looking so strong and eager to experience life.
Checking on little E14 was the highlight of my day. He/she was such a spunky little eaglet. I was hoping for the best when I heard that he/she was injured and very disappointed and saddened to learn of that they passed. My heart goes out fellow SWFL eagle lovers and the providers of this wonderful cam.

I saw this and it made me sick. E14 was my favorite eaglet of all the previous offspring. Ruined me and my wife's day. RIP little guy.

Hello friends. Somehow I felt I would wake up to this posted. I have not been on site long but in that short period I had become so in love. With a tiny little egg that became a beautiful baby eaglet. A beautiful family. Sadness overload fills my teary eyes and heart. Watching them gave me a special joy. Such confusion for mommy. I will miss her little face daily. May she fly high in her sky. Spread her wings and RIP LITTLE ONE.. 💞❤🌹

There were many gifts of flowers, plaques, stuffed animals, rocks and cards for our baby E14 ♥♥ Such a beautiful outpouring from our eagle community!! I think the tears are going to be here for quite some time. It was just too tragic to see this little one pass away from a broken pin feather and bleeding. E14 will be loved and missed forever!! ♥

I am so very sad and teary, he/she was a sweet and precocious little one who stole everyone's heart from the very beginning. So glad that Harriet was on the nest with the little one, who wasn't alone at the end. E-14 is now growing and will be soaring in the heavens soon!! Sadness hardly seems enough of a word to describe my feelings; not only for little E14 but for the diligent parents. I know it is nature but it is profoundly sad nonetheless when we lose any little creature. Thee world is a little poorer this morning.
Out of all the Years I ever watched Harriet this is the saddest I ever seen her....

Was really looking forward to watching E14 grow up and My Heart is Saddened. E14 seemed to be growing up fast and strong and was delightful watching E14's progress. E14 will really be missed. Watched late last night California PST time and E14 was barely vocalizing and both Harriet & M15 were at the nest...Harriet stayed with E14 as best she could last night...but overnight, sadly, E14 did not make it and is in Eagle Heaven now. Thanks Lady Haw for your care, concern, and wonderful videos.
I cannot watch the footage but my heart is heavy and I have shed the tears in mourning of her. She will be missed dearly💔. Such an awful tragedy💔.

This video popped up just as I've been watching E15 and E16 growing. This is so heartbreaking to see - nature can be cruel - but in this case, humans caused this tragic outcome which made it even more heartbreaking. RIP E14 - fly high fly free.

This has been a very tough day for us...I am carrying a heavy heart . I know its natures way..but it hit me hard this morning. Harriet is Beautiful. I'm the person on the channel that gave Harriet the name of having the Rod Stewart hair style. At times her feathers on the top of her head would stand up just like Rod Stewart.

@@user-qh8zb9et9q Harriet was last seen chasing intruders away, flying northwest from her Fort Myers nest on the afternoon of Thursday, February 2. Officials reportedly spent weeks searching the area for any signs of the beloved matriarch, but turned up nothing. At this point, Harriet is presumed dead.😭💔 M15 is fine and the BEST dad ever.👍🏆He brought up both of the eaglets (21 and 22), all by himself.

Soo sad. I actually cried this morning when I checked in early as I was getting ready for work. My deepest condolences to all who have been on this journey too. RIP little angel. Glad his momma was with him when he went to fly over the rainbow in the sky.

I live in Germany. When I looked at the Adler-Cam this morning, it was 8:30 am in our time and 2:30 am on the cam. There E14 was already strangely in the nest and Harriet sat awake next to it and looked at E14. I think the little darling was already on the way to the Rainbow Bridge. And when I looked 2 hours later, E14 was in the nest as well. That's why I assume that the boy had already succumbed to his injuries by this time 😪
Little E’s life ended back where it began inside his mom. I’ll miss his cute adorable sweet face peeping over the nest 😢💔💔💔
Oh E14, I will miss you along with everyone else. You were so gorgeous and you had personality. I'm sorry for Harriet and M15. They've been doing such a wonderful job and I have no doubt that they will continue to do so. They are incredible parents. Fly high and soar E14. See all the sights that you weren't able to see yet. 😭🦅🐾💙

I want to Thank Mr Pritchard for letting us view our Eagles every year. This was a difficult year for our couple, so hopefully next season will be better.

Such sad news to wake up to! I had checked in on the live cam during the night, but it was before E14 passed and I had hoped the little one would pull through! Rest in peace little one!
