What a smart and sensitive mother, but fate decreed otherwise. Such was a wonderful baby with big eyes. The eyes in which he reflected so far only a small world with his caring parents.

My heart is broken. What a sad day for the eagles and all of their "family" who have been following the new bbabies each season. Rest in peace, sweet E14.
Just read about the passing of E14... so sad. We are all so sad today. God has you little E14. You were a special joy to us each day. God loves you little one.
E14 Sustained an injury today. There was quite a bit of bleeding. Many believe that there is a fish hook stuck in her left wing. Harriet tried to remove something that looked like a thick wire to me, and put it on the side of the nest. I include a couple of pictures at the beginning that show Harriet removing what appears to me to be fishing line or something similar from the same area. The Pritchetts ( Cam Owners) are aware of the situation and monitoring closely. Please say prayers or think positive thoughts that all will work out for Our Special Eaglet, Harriet and M15. If I find out anything else, I will surely share it! Hugs and Thank You to ALL!! STATEMENT FROM CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. As soon as CROW staff became aware of the situation, efforts to coordinate a rescue began. This process includes obtaining permission from federal and state wildlife officials prior to intervening in an active nest. Entering an active nest at night also poses a safety risk to both the adult eagles who could become agitated by human presence and seriously injure themselves during the rescue process, as well as the safety risk to the personnel attempting the rescue. Realistically, a rescue attempt was not possible until this morning at which time we were notified the eaglet had passed away overnight. We are deeply saddened by the passing of E14 of the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam overnight. We are working closely with US Fish and Wildlife to pursue the possibility of recovering the remains to perform a necropsy and determine a cause of death. We will provide updates on our social media pages as more information becomes available.
D Luc Lord, why does this have to happen!! I know it’s Mother Nature, but this nest has gone through a lot, i.e. mean Owls, etc.!!!!!!! Praying for this nest like I do all of them!!!!!! 🙏🏻 ❤️🦅❤️
I was watching this as it happened and wondered what Mom was doing. First thing this morning I got up hoping so much that E14 would be ok. I'm so sorry to see this outcome. xoxox
Still Missing E14 who is in Eagle Heaven now but not forgotten. Seems Harriet did know something was wrong before it got worse. Thanks for the video. Had been watching E14 grow up so fast and strong. Was also heartbreaking to watch E14's last day, night, last moments, etc.
I think sweet eaglet died in the late evening or early morning hours because of the big loss of blood. I'm glad dad or mom was with him the whole time. Now fly high and forever free, little angel! We will miss you.
If you look carefully at the chick's left leg claw at 8:34, you will see a piece of wire that seems to be stuck on that claw that very likely is poking the chick's wing. In another video, I saw Harriet remove that piece of wire and set it off to the right. That is a thick wire and could have easily punctured the blood feathers on the underside of the wing doing considerable damage. You could see it at 10:04 as well. You can see it waving, sticking up at the bottom right at the end of the video.
You saw exactly what I saw. I thought that looked like a thick wire also. And at the end of the video after Harriet removes it she is still working on the under side of that left wing, and has traces of blood on her beak towards the end of the video. Probably when the bleeding first started. Thanks for your input!
I agree. Harriet stayed right there with E14 as s/he trashed around in the nest bow. M15 also sat in the nest for a while with Harriet, watching over E14. They did know.

The poor baby did not make it to see the new day - I am gutted. I went to the live stream this morning and saw Harriet moving E14 to the side of the nest, then M15 came down too. The camera pointed elsewhere and the next thing to be seen were the parents on the top branch. Harriet kept looking down towards the nest for a while. The last time I saw the chick clearly move, beyond shadow of doubt because of the pixellation distorting shapes, was about 22.30 nest time. What a loss!
thanks so much for this DLuc Harriet Im sure knew something maybe from a scent ? I dont know E14 is also nursing that side Hope all ends well Once again Thank You !!
outraged by what happened, why they didn’t intervene in time to save the life of this poor eagle, why they didn’t rescue her alive, what’s the use after she died, I believe everyone who was watching saw that she was going to die, a lot of cruelty
And then came an eaglet, E14, from a loving and wonderful family. This incredible eaglet soon captured our hearts with the grace E14 carried. I know there are some people who will say "you're projecting human emotions." Sadly these people cannot see their own emotions. As I'm an empath, I clearly see love and concern in Harriet's actions. I don't understand why humans did not intervene to save E14. I'm far beyond from sad right now. However, I choose to believe E14 life was not an accident. For every creation there's a creator. God has allowed this to happen so that we all can learn an important lesson from all this. I pray for E14's soul to soar high and free, and for Harriet and M15 to be able to receive our love as a form o solace. With reverence and gratitude from this humble human. P.S. I know how you're feeling D LUC and I'm sending you positive energy your way.
Poor Harriet is trying to help her baby. I hope Pritchett sends up a rescue team to remove E14 from the nest to get medical attention. Then E14 can be returned to the nest. I think we need medical intervention here. Praying they do so, our eaglet needs our help. Thanks D Luc!
Its now confirmed that E 14 has passed away. Please keep prayers in all dirrection! Rest in peace little one. Your now flying with the angels! You will always be our special baby!
I have an unpopular question, why didn't sombody do something, I thought they went up to get E8 when he was stuck. I'm sorry this really hurts to see, he was so healthy and vibrent. Looks like he may have passed between 1 and 2 am
There are permits needed to intervene, guess it had to do with timing more than anything, when darkness fell, it would make things nearly impossible to deal with. Also, it must be a man made issue to be considered for intervention.
Are there any animal rescue organization in southwest florida? Please somebody call the animal rescue team of there. I'm foreigner and I don't know nothing about florida except the eagles.
When I first tuned in here, there was 2 eggs. As I watched the first one hatch I felt that the second one was not going to and after watching the little one for a few days I was struck with this feeling that he was not going to survive. I continued to watch, off and on, and I was very saddened to see that is exactly what happened. How terrible sad an ordeal for all it was.
I never had such feelings, but what I did notice this Season was many commenting on the negativity that surrounded this nest, such as the owls, numerous intruders, and the construction going on across the street...in hindsight, I can't help but wonder how that kind of aura could impact and influence the eagle's universe...JMHO :( Many Blessings of healing and comfort to all that still feel pain from the events that lead to losing our precious E14 and Egg#2
E's breathing is laborious and panicky, definitely an obvious sign of distress! E14 may have had skin/feather parasites and accidentally pecked a vein and Harriet exacerbated it? The tip of their beaks are very sharp and somewhat needle like, it would be very easy to puncture young skin!
Hi Jay, A necropsy was performed on the eaglet because it ended up passing away, and the death was determined to be caused by rat poisoning. A blood feather was broken and the blood was unable to clot due to the poison in it's system, which is an anticoagulant.
@@DMStarXOXO I'm very familiar with rodenticides, I was in the pest control business several years ago on Hilton Head Island. There are non-poison control methods available but many companies still use paraffin bait blocks in bait boxes in coastal communities. And then you have careless technicians and haphazard homeowners. Rat Terriers and other dogs can be easily trained to eliminate rats/rodents in one day compared to weeks for poisonous rodenticides. It angers me to see non-targeted species getting killed!
Check out Joseph Carter the Mink Man videos! He uses minks (natural rat predator) and different dogs, they make quick work of killing rats! Fascinating to watch!
@@jayhouse3149 It is heartbreaking to see how the reckless usage of rodenticide can endanger the lives of innocent species such as our Beautiful Eagles. Their lives are fragile enough without humans making things even more difficult and hazardous for them! I wish more people knew what you know.
So sad to hear that he or she has passed away. Eaglet 14 you will never be forgotten in our hearts. Eaglet 14 you were a special eaglet because you were born on my birthday you're a Sagittarius and you fought hard we are greatly or so deeply depressed and said it by your passy we hope and we pray that many fishermen people will start cleaning up after themselves so this could never kill another innocent bird again. Especially a bird as a great American symbol. Bald American Eagles are protected federally and you need to clean up after yourselves after you're done cleaning fishing on those beaches please be take time and pick up as much trash as we can so no other animal has to suffer due to the hands of a human being. Dreez76 Hello. E14 died because of a broken blood feather. In answer to your question, CROW had to obtain permission to approach and access the nest. I’m not sure but it might be under some federal jurisdiction. So sad and difficult to see. He was growing up so beautifully, doting parents, lots of food... We’ll all miss that little fellow.
Tranquility 32 As D Luc wrote, entering the nest at night would put the adults at risk. There was just nothing that could be done. It was the perfect storm. If it had been a hook, E14 may have lived because the wound would have clotted. There is no wound with a blood feather, just an open faucet pouring out blood. A tragedy that could not have been prevented or stopped.
Dude what the hell !! I’m pissed off why are they not going up there to help this baby !!! This is sad 😞 I’m done really I’m fine this makes me so mad!!! What happens to this baby
I had a feeling that something was wrong when I saw mama trying to get something under baby's wing....very gently but again and again. Blood could be a sign that "hook" was pulled thru muscle/fat/skin tissue and that is why blood was kind of "sprayed" on baby's body. I didn't see baby having any problems walking, or more fresh blood. At night, you can see both parents in the nest checking on baby and many little flies- possibly attracted to that blood. I didn't know what to do and didn't want to start panic. Sunrise is at about 5am there...Do you have more info, maybe from FB ( I closed my account there so I can't open chat)….. ANY time of the night- please!!! write here!!!!! Thank you D Luc !!!
I am heading to bed so I can get up early and see what I can find out. Right now, we are in a holding pattern, until tomorrow. Praying that an intervention will happen!! No new info yet. Hugs
Cannot understand why the camera operator did not call Crow out immediately when they saw the amount of blood that was coming from E14. This is so unbelievably unnecessary and heartbreaking.
The injury happened Sunday. One of the parents was in the nest and the other came in real fast from the left side, and slid pushing 2 sticks into the side of E14... It looked as though one of the sticks went into the side and broke off. I was watching for blood, knowing it was a significant hit. After that, you can see E14 picking at that side, perhaps pulling out the stick...(theres a video off to the right from 1-12-2020, that does not have the incident in it)
D Luc How does something like that happen to an eaglet less than a month old & still in the nest? It is so sad. Have Harriet & M15 flown the nest or will they stay awhile?

Dude what the hell !! I’m pissed off why are they not going up there to help this baby !!! This is sad 😞 I’m done really I’m fine this makes me so mad!!! What happens to this baby
Poor Harriet. She tried. Was so hoping she would pull out that blood feather. Poor E14 having to suffer and bleed to death. Breaks my heart. 😪🦅
😥😥😥😥😥😥 RIP E14
Poor little babes😰
what happened???
Oh, poor baby! :0(
I had a feeling that something was wrong when I saw mama trying to get something under baby's wing....very gently but again and again.
💔😢how did the baby get a broken
Blood feather ?
It is unknown at this time. A tragic accident
Живьём уже перья выдирает мамочка. Решила съесть, видимо сильно голодная.
The injury happened Sunday. One of the parents was in the nest and the
other came in real fast from the left side, and slid pushing 2 sticks
into the side of E14... It looked as though one of the sticks went into
the side and broke off. I was watching for blood, knowing it was a
significant hit. After that, you can see E14 picking at that side,
perhaps pulling out the stick...(theres a video off to the right from
1-12-2020, that does not have the incident in it)
If only she had the ability to pull out the broken blood feather. Such a tragedy.
🙏🙏🙏
I still feel sad ☹🐣
Me too :(
E14 hasn't moved for hours
as long as hook is not inside her- she will be alright!!!!! THINK POSITIVE !!!!!!
I can't watch this! So sad
I cannot even watch these videos....I can only say that I am absolutely heartbroken. Nature is so cruel sometimes.
Hugs
R.I.P.😭
Poor baby is in pain.
:*
She obviously saw something there she kept on picking at it.
I’m in love with this baby but that to much blood for a bird to lose I seen it dripping out what happen !!
Poor baby.
It so sad
Why didn't rescue him
Heartbreaking!! Many of us would like to know that too
Sad 😢
😔🙏💜
Does anyone know what happened ? Thank you ....
CROW retrieved E14's body and after exam, determined cause of death to me a broken blood feather.
D Luc How does something like that happen to an eaglet less than a month old & still in the nest? It is so sad. Have Harriet & M15 flown the nest or will they stay awhile?
@@mariewheatleyful For now, they are sticking around. New situation at this nest only time will tell how long they will stay.
D Luc Thank you ...
So sad. I think about how they will do now....they don't have babies to take care of. :-(
Sad 😔😢
Devastated.
very sad this morning :(
🥺😰🙏🙏🙏🙏😩🙏🙏💓💗💖
I hope the baby didn't eat stuffing from the stuffed animal. poor thing is gone.
😰😱😰 just watched live cam.....
To make money with the camera , YES , but to save the chick , NO ..You must be very proud , Southwest Florida Eagle Cam Pritchett !! nasty !!
:(
A child was dying in the eyes of thousands of people, really nobody could help them? The more that the nest is low.
