SWFL Eagles_ The E's Are Home!! Renested!! & Harriet Returns To Them 02-05-21

- E17 & E18 were brought back home to their nest and Harriet and M15 this morning. Harriet was in the nest tree when the bucket truck arrived sending her flying and on alert. She was out of sight as the E's were re-nested. One or both eagles were seen flying or perching within site of the pasture but did not return until mid afternoon. Harriet arrived, vocalizing, almost landing but taking another fly about before landing in the attic. She stared down at her eaglets before dropping to the nest and aerating the nest bowl. E18's head could be seen above the crib rails beside Harriet. It is wonderful to have the family back together again!

Watching this brought back the day she went missing .....her babies came home on Feb. 5 2021 and she would be gone forever on Feb. 2 2022.....she is sadly missed by us all..

What a priceless moment. Great job done by the people of Joshua Tree and all the staff at CROW. Let's hope they both grow into big and strong eagles. For sure H & M got their part covered. Such excellent parents. Loved to see how Harriet instantly accepted them and got to work on the nest.
I'm glad she is trying to divert 17 from attacking 18 even when he's sleeping...the wounds on his back make me nervous....I noticed that a few times she seemed to to nip 17 to get her to stop. Its like watching 15 & 16 all over again but this is a little more violent. Mom seems to have it under control....Had it on all day while I worked in each room...and she dropped down every time 17 got out of hand....Great Mom ! Thanks for this video because it shows Mom dropping down while she's screaming in excitment and on the cam you don't see til she comes into view but you hear her. When they were flying the cam picked up Mom & Dad screaming out. So exciting ! Thank You Hugs and Kisses for this great video.

Maybe she just got lost in a storm or the winds. Weather was so bad around the whole country around the time she went missing. I like to think she got lost and found another eagle family to care for who post their mom. 🤷🏻♀️❣️

It is so wonderful that CROW has managed to provide the two little ones with excellent medical care and to bring them back to the nest this morning 😍 Totally stressful for Harriet and M15. They both looked very irritated too. But the two little ones also looked around first. An extraordinary day for our eagle family. I watched them bring back the babes and waited for mom and dad to return. I was getting worried, it seemed like hours then I went to my prayer room to pray and when I came back there was mom! or [dad!] ? - then both were there. Thank-you Lord

It was hours before Mom came back and I was getting worried. I started praying and within 5 min. Harriet arrived back at the nest. 😂

Hi I've only recently discovered all the eagle nest live cams on TH-cam and now I'm HOOKED and check in daily tracking these guys, another one in NE FL and one in Big Bear (California). It's both fascinating and somewhat meditative at the same time in a way I can't explain and I'm extremely grateful for all of these groups and people like yourself who make it all possible so thank you!

@@kathleenmccaffery1313 - yes, they had an infection and needed intervention which CROW provided. Here is their story: The following are a few CROW UPDATES ON E17 AND E18:
January 29, 2021 (approximately 1:30pm): E17 and E18 were removed from the nest by CROW when concern for the eaglet’s health was noticed (eyes swollen and crusty). E17’s intake weight at CROW was 220 grams - E18 weighed 157 grams. 5:20pm - Update from CROW on E17 & E18 from the SWFLEC nest:
Our veterinarians have completed the exam on the two eaglets. Both of the eaglets eyes were crusty and partially closed, but they were reported to be well fed and otherwise in good shape. They were unable to determine an exact cause for their eye condition as of yet, but swabs were taken for testing.
January 30, 2021 1pm - Update from CROW on E17 & E18 from the SWFLEC nest:
The eaglets are doing well this morning and they have been eating very well in our care. In previous photos we posted, their eyes looked much better because we have kept them clean and clear of discharge. The infection causing the issue, however, is still present. The eaglets are receiving antibiotic eye drops three times a day during feeding times to minimize handling. They were also started on an injectable antibiotic today to help combat the infection.
Through cytology (examining samples through a microscope) done in our clinic, we are able to narrow down potential types of infections which allows our use of antibiotics to be the most effective to clear the infection. We will not know the definitive type of infection until we receive results from the swabs we have sent for testing. Once the infection has cleared and they have been medically cleared by our veterinary team, we will return the eaglets to the nest, even though we may not receive the results of the swabs until later.
February 5, 2021 11am - Update from CROW on E17 & E18 from the SWFLEC nest:
This morning, our veterinarians checked the eaglets’ eyes and found no signs of infection. The eaglets were given a third injection of antibiotics that will continue to fight any potential lingering infectious cells for a few more days. They were also given a clean bill of health and cleared to return to the nest!
February 6, 2021 11am - Update from CROW on E17 & E18 from the SWFLEC nest:
We suspected, based on our cytology from Friday night, that they had a bacterial infection and this was confirmed via PCR assay today. They’ve been on the appropriate antibiotics to treat this infection since Friday. By the time we put them back in the nest, they will get one last injection of antibiotic, which has a residual effect for 3 days. This will result in a total of 10 days of treatment for them for their infection, which is an ideal length of time.
MARCH 16, 2021: E17 & E18 EYE SWAB RESULTS: Swabs of the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam eaglets infected eyes came back positive for Avian chlamydiosis. Avian chlamydiosis is a bacterial disease caused by Chlamydophila psittaci (C. psittaci), which is carried commonly by birds. This finding is consistent with our cytology results which allowed our treatment to be effective. Thanks to the incredible work by our team of veterinarians, technicians and wildlife rehabilitators, the eaglets were returned to their nest healthy and have continued to grow and thrive!

So cool to see the reunion from this angle as well. And Vicki, nobody can tell me that YOU do not have a special connection with Harriet directly - I have seen this in your other videos, when you talk to her - she knows you and feels that connection. Jane Knight, either Harriet didn’t know the E’s were back or she was cautious about returning due to all the increased activity around the nest. (Too many media people remained in the driveway for quite some time.) Harriet returned after they left. Just my thoughts.

I just watched this video for the first time and I assume from all the mass that this was during the pandemic and I started watching last season and I guess around the time people started taking their mask off I did not know that the babies have been taken probably just to season before I started watching but yeah cry through the whole thing the whole time I'm watching them thinking I wish they were bringing Harriet back

Pat Henshaw, thank you. Actually Lady Hawk and I, Wskrsnwings, are two different people. Lady Hawk records the live cam action from her home without narration. I am live at the nest site recording the action, with narration. Good to have two different perspectives.
