    Hello,
    Love the video. Very Informative especially for a beginner such as myself. :)
    However, I can only connect to the internet using a WAN ( Modem ) to WAN ( Router ) connection. WAN to LAN does not work. My modem has two ports, one WAN and one LAN.
    Or am I missing something here? Your modem has one port, correct? Is it a WAN/LAN combo port?
    Sorry for the dumb questions.
    With best wishes: Janina, Finland EU

      Hello Janina! Thank you for reaching out. My modem only has 1 Ethernet port that is designed to plug into the WAN port of my router. What you are doing sounds correct. If your modem has a WAN and LAN port, you should use the WAN port on your modem to connect to the WAN port on your router. For security reasons, you should not use the LAN port on your modem. I hope this helps!

    So basically if I bought a router I’d have to make it work by connecting it to my Xfinity modem with an Ethernet cable? Also I’m getting 50 gbps by using the modem as wifi. If I connect a router to my modem would the wifi become better

      That is correct, you would have to connect your new router to your existing modem. It actually sounds like what you have is a modem/router combo device, because you wouldn’t be able to get WiFi if you only had a modem. Also, buying a new router will not necessarily make your internet faster. That would depend upon the speed of your internet plan. I hope this helps!

    Deserves a like my problem tho is that it shows a red light in wan on the router and I reconnected it and so many things and the router won’t work

      There are 2 main things that come to mind here:
      -Has your modem been registered with your internet service provider?
      -Do you have an active internet plan?
      These are the 2 things I would look into first when troubleshooting your connection. I hope this helps.

    my router tplink archer ax72pro the port blue in color label 2.5g wan/lan and on 1 of port yellow in color label 1gb wan/lan - in this case where to connect the cable from moderm .

    • @network-from-home
      @network-from-home  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jpeter3683 you should take the ethernet cable coming from your modem and connect it to the blue 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port on your router. That should provide you with the best performance.

      @@network-from-home 1gb wan/lan yellow is for what ?

    • @network-from-home
      @network-from-home  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jpeter3683 it has the same function as the blue 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port, it just doesn't support as much bandwidth. In other words, the 2.5 Gbps port can support more data being sent to/from the internet. Honestly both ports would most likely work fine in your network, but you are airing on the side of caution by using the 2.5 Gbps port on your router.

    One silly question! If I plug on this port a tension , idk, between 60v-220v will burn the router or only that port? Thanks

    • @network-from-home
      @network-from-home  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @nomercy7161 I'm not sure I totally understand the question, but if you supply high voltages to your router, you risk burning out the entire router. I don't believe the damage would be localized to the port. I hope this helps.

    Hi goodday i got a custom made cable with my router marked Wan and Lan it's a bit sort can i make my own cable that's longer by using cat 5e cable and wil it have any effect on the router.

    • @network-from-home
      @network-from-home  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @antondeklerk6841 yes you can definitely do that! As long as the ethernet cable is less than 100 meters long it won't affect your router (:
