    Somebody please give this guy an award please. He just answers every question I have been looking for pertaining to lan and wan ports and got nothing but long talk and nonsense. Mr you saved my day. Thank you.

    I've tried many vids and this was the only one that explained it in a way I understood

    WAN simply provides a connection between your router and your modem. However it may never be used.

    The WAN Port can now be used as a LAN Port in some cases at least. Greetings.

    My main Fibre modem uses a phone jack to connect to Fibre. It has a WAN port that has nothing plugged into it. I just bought a router that has four Lan ports and a Wan port. Can I connect my RJ45 cable from the modem Wan port to the Router Wan port or do I connect Wan to Lan or Lan to Lan?

      It sounds like you need to plug one end of the cable into a LAN port on the modem and then the other end into the WAN port of the router. Let me know how you get on.

    Hello., I have a Leased line of 10mbps from ISP. My ISP did not provide a modem insted fixed a media converter at my end., Now that allows me to use a ethernet cable to connect to a WAN on a router.
    Now the problem : I am getting connected to the provided WAN IP but i ain't able to connect to Internet.
    There's a communication b/w my PC and my ISP while pinging.
    What could be a better solution...🙏

      I would raise this with your ISP as it doesn't sound like you are receiving the service you are paying for. Could you also look at getting a modem in place of the media converter?

    Hi! Great video! Could you explained me how a tri-band router like the Asus zenwifi AX6600 advertising 1x 2.4ghz at ~500mbps 1x 5ghz-1 at ~2.4gpbs and 1x 5ghz-2 ~4.8gbps can exploited his full bandwith of 6.6gbps when there is only a WAN Ethernet port which allows only 2.5gbps ? I understand it as a bottleneck but I should be wrong because there would be no point to have bands that wide when you can get only 2.5gbps in.

    • @homenetworkgeek192
      @homenetworkgeek192  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tri-band routers essentially provide three different Wi-Fi networks to reduce congestion; one 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz networks. They will automatically connect your devices to whichever network it thinks will provide you with the best performance, so although it has a total bandwidth of 6.6 Gbps, it won't speed up a single device. You should notice better performance on the devices you connect after though. Hope this helps.

      @@homenetworkgeek192 but the sum of the bandwith taken by all my devices, evenly connected to the 3 networks of my router, cannot exceed 2.5 gbps (the size of the WAN port) right? Thanks a lot for all your answers!!

    Hello bro happy new year, I have a new wifi router that is 5ghz and has 2. 4ghz too, so my phone when near has 90 mbps which is good and in my room 50-70 but my pc has only 10 only 10 mbps with an ethernet adapter because my wifi is in the living room can you help me out because I can't find an solution..

    • @homenetworkgeek192
      @homenetworkgeek192  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy new year to you too. So just to confirm you are getting 90 Mbps on your phone when you are right next to the router, but only get 10 Mbps on your PC which is a bit further away? Do you mean you are using a Wi-Fi dongle as your PC is too far away from the router to use ethernet?

    I would like to know if you have a review about the Huawei B818 with SIM card slot the port is a bit confusing. LAN1 and LAN2/WAN and can I use WAN from internet cable outside to feed the hub?
