    Great helmet, nice look, comfort, , nice sun visor. BUT there is always a but . The wind exits on the sides make my life noisy. Annoying. A continuous air flow makes you want to give it away. Oneal should have a system to open and close those exits.

    I got my Sierra II last week. Great helmet, and it's true that the only problem is the sun visor is quite difficult to get down. In terms of wind noise it's actually much more quite than my Shark S700, even with the peak on.

    Sierra II and Vemar Kona Explorer are the exact same helmets!!! So, is it Vemar who makes the helmets for O´Neal????
    I got a Vemar Kona Explorer, and for the price I payed (it´s a little bit cheaper than O´Neal) I must say it´s a great helmet for my use (and price!) It surely is noisy on highway speeds, but it´s a steady noise as long as your head is outside of the buffeting zone of any windscreen... In the buffeting zone, it shakes and vibrates unpleasantly.... The sun visor mechanism gets easier to operate the more you use it, it needs some "running in" time. I use mine without any pin-lock. Fogging haven't been any problem as i just crack the visor a tiny bit open when i see any sign of fogging (i like to get some wind in my face...) Temp range where i´we used it so far have been between 10-32 deg. celsius. I can't say i have felt any affects of the helmet vents, but then again i guess it does the job, since the helmet does not feel overly warm in 32 deg. celsius.
    Also, it´s a big shell...in sidewinds you can feel the wind twisting and turning.
    My helmet size is XL. It felt perfectly tight when i first got it, but after some use i think i should have tried size L.
    Anyways, it´s a great helmet for the price!!!

    Great helmet for the money but I have two big issues. It fogs up as soon as I put the visor down, so maybe poor ventilation. Also I find the sun visor distorts my vision so I really don't use it. How do I prevent fogging in this helmet?

    Are these dual sport helmets w/shield a viable option for a sport ATV rider? I wear glasses, and have a deviated septum making goggles are a bear to wear... The O'Neal appeals to me based on looks and the drop down tinted visor. Can you please compare to LS2 Pioneer?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, it can be a viable option for sport ATV riding. However, a shield is going to fog more easily than goggles, and if the riding conditions are really dusty, you'll want to keep the shield closed. Comparing with the LS2 Pioneer, both have similar shell construction and similar drop down sun visors. The Pioneer has 3 shell sizes compared to the Sierra's 2 shell sizes, so the Pioneer is more compact in sizes XS and Small. The main difference is that the Sierra has a neutral/round oval internal fit, while the Pioneer has a narrow/long oval internal fit around the crown. Therefore, I'd mainly decide based on your head shape. -DrewZilla

So I went form a xs to a large. And this Sierra 11 hurt the hell out of me just putting it on. There was way too much padding and was legit like being reborn it hurt and pulled my hair out everytime I put it on . I also got massive headaches after putting it on and after tkaing it off. • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We find the Neotec has more of an intermediate oval shape, whereas the Sierra II is a neutral oval between intermediate and round. For me, I can wear a Neotec as well as this Sierra II comfortably, so there's a good chance it should fit you as well. And yes, this is a good affordable option for your 80/20 riding if you don't want to spend all the money on a Shoei Hornet X2. -DrewZilla

    My thought for entrepeneurs - devise a 2" wide roll-off system that mounts to the helmet and is motorized and is activated by handlebar mount. This system would solve the terrible vision problem that pro-motocross racers face in extreme muddy conditions. No more pulling in to the mechanics area for new goggles during the race. Roll-offs go across the face shield.

      Both would be great options! The O'Neal Sierra II is about a quarter of a pound lighter than the EXO-AT950 and vents more air, which will make it better offroad while the EXO-AT950 has very premium-feeling padding and the convenience of a modular helmet making it more suitable for long touring-style riding.
