You said you poured too cool... at what temperature was that? Or better yet since this is a year old 😊 what is the best pour temp for this wax that you have found?
I use apricot coconut wax it dose hold fragrance very well I do heat temp at 169 170 and stur fragrance till it is crystal clear then add color but I like them natural
Hi Jeff, I currently have been using this wax but having trouble wicking it. Wood wicks burn okay but HT and CT ony okay.. I make my own cement vessels 3 inch tulip and was hoping you would have a suggestion for wicking this with 1 or 2 wicks. I have currently am using premier series. Thanks! Cathy
Hey Jeff! Just wondering, what wax would you mix Coco Apricot to make a little firm for the melts? Also, when making candles using Coco Apricot which wick would you use for 3.5 inch opening? Thanks in advance. 😁
Hello, thank you for the review. I have some on order and am excited to work with it. Does this wax need to cure in order to improve the ht? I’m wondering if the manufacturer recommends a cure time or not? Also wondering how the ht compares to the ht in ww other two waxes. Would love to hear if you think it has the same/worse/better throw than 464.
it be really nice if content creators answered questions like these. it has a super low melt point But I want to try wooden wicks after trying eco, CD and LX and i've overwicked almost all of them. like a 3.5in jar with 2 CD3 wicks was too much.
Hi Jeff, have you come up with any final thoughts about the Coconut Soy and the Coco Apricot waxes? Do you prefer one to the other? Thank you in advance, I look forward to your video, as I’m going to order one or the other. I also have to factor in 6+ weeks of shipping time. Bright blessings to you and your family. 🙏🏻💗🕊
Can you talk more about wooden wick fragrances? Test them in their vessels/different percents? And also can you try the tube and spiral wicks!!! Are they easy to cut and add to the clip?
I second that request! Being that it’s at a high price point, I’d like to know if the throw is worth it. As well as how easy it is to build with or mix to create you’re own signature scents 🙏🏼
musicoverllife2 The tube wicks were an epic fail for me and I tested many. I don’t know, but it certainly was a complete waste of money in my experience. I wanted them to work because of the unique flame. As far as inserting into the clip, they are no more difficult than the flat wooden wicks. If you have success with them, please let me know how you achieved it? I would sincerely appreciate it 🙏🏻. Otherwise, with shipping, I have over $40 of wicks just sitting in my wick bin. Bright blessings to you.
Thank you so much for the review sir. I’m having a problem with hot throw from 464 unless I put at least 2oz of FO to 1 pound of the 464. Am I doing something wrong?
I'm fairly new to this, but I had horrible luck with 464. Bought 30 pounds on my very first order, went through about 5 pounds before it found a home on a shelf and was replaced by 6006. I've had zero issues with 6006. About 10 different FOs so far and it's been great. No major pitting, great HT/CT. Also, adding more and more FO can impair the candle rather than give you a stronger hot throw. I ran a few tests with Candle Science's Amber Noir FO in 6006 - an 8% load and a 16% load (which I new was too much, but wanted to see what would happen). The 8% candle burned better and had a better throw to it. Also, the size of your container and size/type of wick plays a huge role in it. I ordered each type of wick Candle Science has to offer and I'm testing the final three today.
Hi Jeff, did you find your HT improving as the days go by with this wax? That has been my experience with is thus far. Although, I get an immediate HT when using WW fragrance with this wax.
I just started using this wax and so far I really like it. I am struggling to figure out a cotton wick. I tried the CD 18 so I am hoping out of the Eco ones I have will work or what I need to order
Oh and lastly can you try in different size tins? I ordered and will like to use their tins/the small 3-4 ounce. Maybe with a cotton wick. Don't know which size would work though
Jeff, I am having the hardest time getting a HT with this wax, I'm using CS, FC and NG fragrance oils. I purchased your book and I followed it but the HT is just not there. I heat to 190 sometimes it does get to 210. I'm Using CD wicks. I've tested from a starting point of CD 6 all the way up to 14. Any advice? What's an average CD wick size for this wax?
I'm not sure if you figured this out yet but I've been studying a lot on hot and cold throw. Make sure you don't add your fragrance over 180. Check the fragrance oil you use to see what the "flashpoint" is. That's the temperature you can heat your fragrance to where it won't combust. Sometimes over heating the fragrance takes away it's ability to give a throw.
@@ashleymial flashpoint has nothing to do with pouring temperatures, it’s a reference to the fragrance oil being exposed to the an open flame or spark. This particular wax has to be mixed with fragrance oils higher than 180F to get an awesome hot throw
I am new to candle making, learning as I go along. I am loving these videos, and you are so helpful in teaching this. BUT, is there an actual BOOK I can purchase to refer back to so I don't always have to go online and watch the video? It's not always convenient, especially when I have to search the whole film. Thanks...one of my favorite subscriptions now!
Always measure by weight when it comes to a craft like this. I primarily do cold process soap making, which is understandably a somewhat more dangerous craft than candle making, but the reason is the same; you want as accurate of a measurement as possible. Because one ounce of melted wax by volume is not the same weight as one ounce of water. Jeff explained this much better than I can in a couple of his previous videos, where he went into the process of figuring out how much wax would be needed to fill a container.
When is it safe to do a burn test after pour? Should I wait for it to fully cure or can I burn it in a few days to test? Most say wait until full cure which can take up to 2 weeks +.
Mrs Eunice that's a good question and it has been asked more than once but no one seems to want to answer the mystery question... I would like to know the answer as well. Hopefully someone will chime in and let us know.
I have probably watched all your videos that you ever made been following you for quite some time and I noticed that lately you're using wood wicks is there a theory behind wood Wicks vs. Cotton wicks
I talked about this in the other video, but it doesn’t look like I mentioned it below. The CD wicks and the premier wicks were pretty well in this wax.
Leslie Singh If you’re talking about when I said I poured it too cool that’s not an issue with what I was going for, and that was the color which you can see on top. Not worried about the sides cooling fast and not showing full color through the sides of the glass. I wanted to see the color in the wax itself which you always check on top anyway.
Watched this as I was testing my coco apricot. So far I’m in love!!! Perfect pour.
How about the hot throw
What type of wick do you use with coco apricot wax? I'm new to candle-making and am learning all about the different waxes and wicks.
What kind of which works best? What size jars are those?
When can we expect final review on coco apricot?
Thanks for review. I love my apricot wax. Because it’s higher quality / price I do not use dye. It’s beautiful.
How does it burn
Thanks Jeff! I’m testing this now. What cotton wick would you use for a 3” diameter jar?
I actually like the colors in these candles. Different look. You may of started a new trend!! Thanks for the review

How would you package this to send this in the summer from melting
Just curious which wax gives you the best hot throw out of all these waxes including 6006
Yes great question!!!
I love the 6006 because the cure time is only 24 hrs and the HT is strong and lingering

Thks for the details. If needed to will need to order from the suppliers from US. It's tough to find from Asia here.
It’s two tone, I like it.

Since this wax is super soft, how would you ship it in warmer weather to your customers :)

For measuring precision, is it recommended to measure the melted wax and fragrance in liquid volume or by weight
