Just love to see how Jim was so touched he teared up, when there was one comment by a mom who said her son, who has learning problem, succeeded the method he just demonstrated in the video.
It really shows us that he, and also Tom, are really 2 individuals that really contributed their whole lives just to serve and make an impact to others’ lives. Its amazing, man.💪

I work with special needs kids in a secondary school in the UK. I watched this just the other day and put the 10 points on the body in to practice during a geography lesson with a student that states she can't remember anything, and if I am honest she truly does not remember much....due to never being taught to 'learn how to learn'. I kept seeing the student throughout the day and asked her to tell me the 'features found in the upper part of a river', she remembered all of them with a big smile on her face. I am now looking forward to work on Monday so I can see if she can still recall them. I am also going to speak to our special ed co-ordinator and find a way to bring this in to our school. Bloody love it. Super inspiring work, and, as always, a super inspiring Impact Theory x

Thank you for this! After utilizing just these few hacks I've been able to learn at a speed I never thought possible. I almost didn't watch it because I've seen others discuss "brain hacks" and they all turned out to be marketing and filler, this by no means fell into those categories. It's hard to put into words what this has done for me. I will forever be grateful for this episode. Thanks again brother.

Basically, Turmeric is an Indian spice, also an antiseptic, its like a root similar to ginger, its then dried and powdered.
Indian pronunciation is Tuh-r-meh-rick. Its used in day to day foods for saute-ing, if you are injured they also add to warm milk and drink before bed. So many uses.

Such a valuable technique! I used my body to remember things when I was studying anatomy and felt like I was cheating. lol ;) I am fascinated by how my brain stores and retrieves information...playing music I am often acutely aware that the part of my brain that reads words, the part that sings notes, and the part that strums a rhythm on my guitar seem to be different parts that only really work together when I 'don't look at them'...

  • @AmbiCahira

Regarding remembering where you left off in a rant or being interrupted I literally put a pin in it. I have a mental note board where I imagine a post it note and putting a pin in it on the board.
I live in organized chaos too and my husband misplace stuff all the time and yet I always know where they are. I notice where an item is out of place, I take a photo with a mental camera of the item in that place and when asked I bring out the mental photo. I think my organized chaos sharpened this skill naturally.
As far as PTSD goes I have been through it and I kid you not I successfully healed it after tons and tons and tons of self work and the biggest thing I kind of learned is that it's kind of like muscle inflammation or like an inflammation of the mind. It is such a tender spot and since it is emotionally connected it is very vivid and very tender. I'm not going to rant about all the things I did to heal but one thing that helped was when I saw this buddhist monk talk about how pain requires an emotional bond. He said an example about seeing a book, buying the book, then calling it my book (thus having the emotional connection of it belonging to you) then sorrow of losing the book because it was connected to you. It helped my mindset of having to disown the moment of my pain to not be mine anymore. It was much more than that but in a nutshell it's what I did.
I once memorized 200 decimals of pi by typing it on the numpad and pretending I was playing the piano and memorizing a melody of what order to press what key. I always identified as bad memory but Jim is really getting me to see that it's not even accurate. I'm "addicted" to learning and I don't have a memory problem but a focus problem and with the new information of this video I think it will change my life a lot! I'm studying a third language lately and I am stoked to utilize the childlike mind!

Hi Tom. Thank for the great content. You and your guests are making a great difference. One thing I recommend for ptsd. Is the linden method. Charles linden is the guy who put this together. I had suffered from panic attacks and anxiety. And lost a job because of it. Also had multiple trips to hospital because of different things my body was doing to high anxiety. A lot of things like panic attacks, PTSD, depression, etc start from anxiety. High recommend his program. And highly encourage people just learn about it because it is just a great life skill, because everyone suffers from anxiety in there life.

I just read the 10 memory foods in order from the book a couple days ago. I remembered them in order correctly two days latter. That is amazing.
Also, speaking about speed reading. I’m going to use a gift card instead of a pointer and use it’s corners to group words together. 1/3’s I’ve got lazy eyes so my eyes don’t move correctly. I end up with two images sometimes. So, the card will help keep the line and break it up better. Just have to adapt.

So I haven't yet come to the end of this video... but the only reason I'm watching it is what happens when you have to learn and then retrive from your memory when you're sitting on an exam like the USMLE? or maybe worse... Like the medical graduates exams in my country? Where I don't only have to remember things by heart but also I have to decode concepts about microbiology? For example - and this is way easy. But let's imagine there's a very difficult concept to remember, because it never presents like that in everyday clinical practice: A child with fever and coughing is brought to the emrgency room. The physical examination showed that the child has 39 degrees Celsious fever and everytime he coughs he has vomiting attacks. His mother says that this is going on for 15 days now. Which of the toxins below may be the reason for such symptoms? and here you have to remember that there are 3 categories of toxins: the ones that act as superantigens, the ones that destroy membranes and the AB class antigens. And you have to remember that one of these categories only causes polyclonal T cell activation so that they cause cytokin response so grand that can cause systemic response like fever. And you have to know every bacterias different toxins and what type they are so you can get the answer right!! How can you train your memory then? And Kwik's now is talking about primacy and recency which how I've noticed my brain works. But on the other hand I know that none of my medical classes lasts only for 25 or 30 minutes. So then what happens if I cannot stop the lecture and whenever I feel the need I can't take a break? Because that's what's happening to me a lot of the time. So what I do at those situations is I completely zone out and find myself thinking some random issue I have to deal with? Oh man, why did I ever choose medicine?😩😩😩

Having multiple tabs, or screens, open falls into that "open and closed loop" phenomenon....people's attention isn't being fully optimized because the other screens are "open loops," activities without resolutions.

(mental image story( memory trick ) Create a story based on what you want to remember by picturing the items in your mind one on top of the other and add a story of the events to go along with it .example
there was once an avocado with a blueberry for a nose and to big brocolli fangs his ears were made of coconuts cut in half and around his neck he had a necklace made of eggs on his shoulders the avocado had spinach shoulder pads and dangling off of the eggnecklace was a fish pendant his fingers were made of tumeric and he ate a bunch of walnuts so he had walnuts in his stomach and he was pooping out dark chocolate .

you can also do this with your upcoming day .
    plan out your entire day
then visaulize in your mind you actually doing every single thing that you planned out
example see yourself waking up at 5 am happy and excited thanking God
brushing your teeth then going for your morning jog stretch and self defense traing
then actually put feeling into it see yourself working on that project on your goal you want to accomplsh and it goes great
picture yourself taking a cool shower then having a great workout
then see yourself eating some delicious lunch
    then see yourself getting money
then reading then getting ready for bed
now say that is how my day will be tomorrow
    then do it .

    Jim this one's for you.
My image of your foods came out as a super hero.
He is balancing an avocado on his head
He has a blueberry nose (yup literally)
Shoots brocolli out of his mouth like a dragon
His Adam's apple is an egg
He has a Cape made of leafy greens
He has an S shaped fish on his shirt, like superman, but it is for Salmon! :)
Everything he touches turns to gold (like the myth) and then turns to golden dust like turmeric powder (like thanos did to half the world)
His belly button has brain (from pinky and the brain) popping out of it - the advisor for mass destruction and world domination
And well... he leaves a marvelous trail of dark chocolate out of his behind when he flies 🤣

My problem with these techniques is it helps u remember short lists and maybe general guideline for speech. I have not seen anyone tell how to remember advanced and complicated stuff like computer algorithms, advanced level physics theories, calculus, etc.

Turmeric is a stumpy little root, related to ginger, only shorter and bright orange. I made a fist and stuck them in between my fingers, so they stuck out like they were stumpy, knobby fingers/creepy claws and I went "Rawr" with them, like a kid, scaring someone. (It took longer to write this, than to come up with it;);)

I could remember the items, but the order he used (top head, nose, mouth, ears, throat, shoulders, collar, fingers, stomach, ass) doesn't make sense to me in that order. i found when i switched to an order that made more sense to me (top head, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, neck, shoulders, stomach, ass, legs) it was waaay easier.
