Sorry the studio is in chaos. I just moved and I'm in the process of re-building/cabling GearCage East! I just wanted to get my take of this awesome mixer out there because it really is a great little product.
Is this a good option for my digital piano wich uses 2 inputs L&R? im curious about the mic pre amps, description says it uses high pre amp derived from its bigger brothers. Im looking for good quality sound for my sound, i only need 4 channels.
Great video! I’m curious, and have the same issue. At 7:01 in your video the 4 band eq is labeled 0Hz for each band. Why is this happening? My eq is doing the same thing. This can’t be right. Did you notice that? Is there a setting to fix that? I’m not convinced that 4 band EQ even works correctly. Thanks again!
I put a ticket in, but after playing around a bit I found the issue, and musictribe confirmed the bug. When I just setup all of my inputs manually, just relabeling the name and manually doing the gain/low cut/level, the 4 band eq displays and works correctly. This was my ticket: What I was doing before when I was doing my inputs was "choosing input preset"- when I used that preset to define a mic (or a line)- that's when the 4 band EQ got messed up. Hopefully you can replicate that and fix that bug. Fortunately you can work around it. This was their response: Dear George, Yes, when I load an Input Preset I am seeing that same problem.I've reported this to our development team and will wait to hear back from them. I just wanted to post this in case anyone else had the same issue.
Almost bought it today. I stopped cause it doesn't have off grid multitrack recording capability. Planning to get the Zoom Livetrack L8 instead. Have you had any experience with it?
If you are going to use it more with daw in your PC and use it also for live needs, you may better get the flow 8, but if you want it as a stand alone recorder you can get zoom live track
Good evening I have a background noise of the microphone channel. Do you know what the problem would be? The microphone is a shure slxd24e beta58 s50 Thanks
Thanks for this video! I was hoping I could use this as an audio interface and mixer combo for DJing. Ideally, I would have USB 1-2 master mix from my laptop on the main XLR outputs, and two booth monitors connected to the 1/4" jacks on monitor send 1/2. The booth monitors should play the same signal as the master, but with an adjustable volume (like the control room outs on live mixers). Then I'd like to use the phones jack for USB 3-4, for listening to cues on the other decks without playing them on master or booth monitor. Then, I'd like to bring in 2 other DJs via input 5-6 and 7-8, so that when I'm done playing my set, we can smoothly switch to other DJs without having to unplug / replug, the way you would with a DJ mixer. Is that possible? From watching video reviews it seems that the phones output has to mirror either the main or the monitor, and can't be routed to USB 3-4 without also routing the monitor outs to USB 3-4. It also seems that I might not be able to use 4 USB outputs from the computer at the same time as the 4 line inputs on inputs 5 6 7 8. Did I get this right?
Question: are you able to have a different mix going to the headphone out? Just wondering for IEMs, as I usually will have my mix a bit different than my main mix. Or should I get an adapter to connect the monitor outs to headphones? Thanks man! Great vid.
Great overview on a very capable mixer, I'm eagerly awaiting mine. Hope to see some future content deep-diving into Live streaming (for musicians, as well as gamers/podcasters) use cases as I haven't seen anyone yet going into detail how you could use clever routing to achieve cool things. I'd like to see how one can route things from the pc to the mixer and back, being able to monitor certain things while broadcasting a different mix, and adding/removing things from that mix and so forth. If USB1/2 and USB3/4 could show up as different playback devices on PC then this mixer would be incredibly useful for more advanced use cases, but I am not sure if that is possible or could be done.
Great overview, thanks a lot for this. The 5V power via power bank is a really nice option. A simple battery-powered 48 V phantom power box would also provide any additional phantom power if needed.
Hey great video! Is it possible to only route the signal from mic 1 through the usb cable to the windows computer? and listen on the headphones to the return usb stereo signal and mic 1 (Mix minus)?
I’m using this in tandem with zoom r12 for the backing track (mono synth and bass). Having it as mixer for the drummer totally resolve the problem with zoom r12 for the drummer. He just can’t hear anything but bass and synth without it lol. It’s all powered with just a power bank too.
Can you recommend me digital mixers better than the Flow 8 around 200~500 usd? I can get the Flow 8 used for 200usd. But I want to upgrade it. Must have parametric eq and compression.
hi ryan. thanks for this great review. i would buy to use for battery powered gigs in the nature where i sit anywhere from 20 to 60 metres in front of the band. do you know the max range i can use my android phone to control the sound remotely via bluetooth ? and do All the control parameters work remotely ?
How to increase audio interface volume on streaming..actually connected my laptop on obs but comming on low volume .. Please explain my audio problem..
Thanks Ryan, When I connect Flow8 (F8) to Audacity I see a list of F8 sources to connect to. I tried them all and I can only get mics 1 & 2 to record. Can you help?
Thanks for reaching out! That one seems a bit strange as every individual input should be available. I don’t use Audacity though. If you bought the Flow from Sweetwater call them because they have dedicated free tech support. If you bought it elsewhere reach out to Music Tribe support directly via their web form. Take care!
Can Bluetooth be used as a line level input? If I want to stream karaoke tracks to the Flow8 via bluetooth from my phone, will the mixer mix this signal with connected mics?
Hi I hope you can help me fix this. I just bought the flow 8 and a brand new MacBook. I installed simply put and Everything goes well until after I select the newest version (738 now) y click update. A legend comes up that reads… DFU ERROR 7: failed to prepare dfu update. The mini screen in the mixer stays red in update mode until I turn it off. One time the legend didn’t appear and it continued to update in the simply put but the mixer said UPDATE FAIL. If anyone could help me i would really appreciate it.
A good review, Thanks for that. I got one as soon as they where availlable here and went through two major updates. the mixer got better every time. One gripe I have is, it can't switch to 44.1kHz. A friend sent me a wave file but I couldn't handle it with this device. any thoughts on that? beside this, I'm really happy with the FLOW 8
Glad you’re enjoying it so far! The nice thing about a mixer like this is that they can continue to do firmware updates. I suspect the Flow mixer line will get much better just like the X32 line.

Just got my Flow 8 few days ago and thanks for reviewing! Make me love this gear more..
Well this is my dream AI and mixer! Such good times for music producers!
Fine review, thank you. Good voice, clear content -- very helpful.
What are the inbuilt channel presets like? Are they usable if you're in a rush?
Damn this thing is a beast at this price. Love the ability to monitor from DAW only after your instruments and mics go through it and are transformed.
Best review I’ve seen on this
Thanks for the review Ryan!

From the board, how do you choose inputs 5, 6, 7, or 8? Once selected, can you use the slider under it to control?

Which one would you recommend and it's better than the other, behringer flow 8 vs zoom livetrak L-8

Best revue of this unit so far 🎚🎛🎧
Thanks!
Would you happen to know if it’s possible to over right snapshots I don’t like to keep creating new ones I just really need one good one

Great review!!! Answered a lot of questiond
Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks, a good review. I ordered one in January and I'm expecting it to arrive next week!
Thanks! Enjoy it, it’s a really cool little mixer.

Would love to have a video of this new mixer being set as an audio interface for multi track on Cubase. Really experting a video of that

This one would be the main game in town in that price range.
@@TheGearCage Awesome. So I did end up getting it. It's really good.
is it possible to create a preset? and if you off and one it will be on the last sceen ?
can you confirm if the USB sends back to the mixer are recognized as different playback devices in windows?
I believe it’s the same device. There aren’t two audio drivers at play like hardware that allows for dedicated loops.
I like the look of it
Yeah, it’s nice! Very compact and powerful.
Good tips and sharing
Thanks!
Ey one question. Is it possible to use channels 1 and 2 to plug a line level intrsument? Obviously using a XLR to 1/4 cable, but is it safe?
Yea, absolutely!

Really good question. I think you’re typically going to ding the range limit to be 30-40’ in my testing.
very good content thank you.
Soundcraft UI 12 or flow 8 for small live gig?
Hi! Does the flow 8 works with Ableton live? Thanks fir your help!
Yes it does! No problem.
Thanks a lot!
I am able to get it recognised by Logic pro x but can't get it to produce any sound, Help please in simple form
How to increase audio interface volume on streaming..actually connected my laptop on obs but comming on low volume ..
Please explain my audio problem..
Great review !
Thanks so much!
I have a question: in the page of the EQ, at the top right, there is a blu button named FULL. What is it for?
Many thanks who can answer me!!!
can I plug an instrument into input 1 and 2? I have no use for mic input. I want to use all 8 channels for electronic instruments
Yep! Just use a direct box to go into them.
Thanks Ryan, When I connect Flow8 (F8) to Audacity I see a list of F8 sources to connect to. I tried them all and I can only get mics 1 & 2 to record. Can you help?

@@TheGearCage Thanks Depending on who you get Sweetwater does a great job.
Can Bluetooth be used as a line level input? If I want to stream karaoke tracks to the Flow8 via bluetooth from my phone, will the mixer mix this signal with connected mics?
Yes you can. You can also run a printer cable from your laptop to the mixer or into channels 5 and 6 or 7 and 8.
hello! does it have a de esser?
Good question, unfortunately not.

Make sure there is NO active bluetooth connection. Mine had a similar issue while trying to update. Disconnected the active link and problem solved.
is your usb port on behringer flow 8 wobbly?
Nope, not on ours. A little 'give' is probably normal, but it shouldn't be dramatically loose.
Nice review. No USB-C is a showstopper. Micro USB breaks too easily.
agree
I have never had a micro usb break… you should try using your hands instead of your feet
A good review, Thanks for that. I got one as soon as they where availlable here and went through two major updates.

Lovely I can't want for mine to explore it.. Thanks for awesome review
The FLOW 8 works only with a 48KHz sample rate
Is this a standalone?
Nope, it needs daw to record
Very very very rude overview. I'm sold.
Can't stop howling at the coffee cups on your monitor speakers. Someone is a lazy man. I wish they made it without the FX
Those are mini boxwoods. Glad they caught your eye!
