      Just curious what one of those battery operated candles would look like? I can imagine the light beaming out of the cracks and holes. Possibly hook up a solar light.
      The other idea would be to hang it upside down and use for a chandelier type hanging…if you have a covered porch that would be cool.
      If you have accessible power. If not Amazon sells porch lights that have a GFI outlet. We are in the process of converting our standard porch lights to those so we can plug Christmas lights in on our porch.
      Fun tossing ideas around and reading other commenters ideas😊
      Your video made me happy; got to the middle and could see the transformation and possibilities.
      Just WOW! BEAUTIFUL!

    Love what you did here!!! I plan on using driftwood and the like as the holder to my fluid art I will attach to it. You’ve given me some great ideas. Thank you! Just subbed to give you support.

    What are you using to laquer the wood? Polyurethane?

    • @Skyplus.1984
      @Skyplus.1984  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I only use acrylic polish

  • @einsam_aber_frei

    Would it cracks over time? I suppose driftwood has high moisture content?

    • @PuppyBiteforTrump
      @PuppyBiteforTrump 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes it does. You need to make sure it is fully dried prior to putting on varnish.
      I have a table that my uncle made the base out of driftwood and a tree slab for the topper. He did the same process in the video. 40 something years ago…no cracking. I clean it with the Howard’s furniture oil and it looks brand new.

    Although I do appreciate the work you put into the driftwood piece, I have to say I prefer the natural grey colour before. So sorry!

      I will try to overcome the basic limitations. As for the colors, I have to paint them to protect them from the effects of the weather and look more luxurious.

    what type of drill are you using to sand the wood, and what grain sandpaper did you use? This is inspiring me!

      @@Skyplus.1984 a wire brush is literally made for that type of work. You can plunge it into the crevices and spaces and gets a much cleaner finish.

  • @mistrcrvr

    It’s a beautiful piece but why not use a sandblaster. Even a cheap one would be better than that drill thingamajiggy.
