The Humble little xt600e. I own one along with lots of other bikes, the xt has been sensational. What a great bike, simple, strong, the little bugger will go anywhere. Hardly ever let me down. I Would recommend one to anyone who wants a great bike. In my opinion a much better bike than the drz400. The seat can actually be sat on, better road ratios. For commuting i couldn't think of a better bike, traffic is a breeze, stops well turns well, stalling is never a problem. If your planning on riding freeway everyday get a twin. It will run down the road okay but is under powered for that, 95km/h nice cruising speed. It does two up pretty good but things get fairly slow and the correct gear must be used. Issues include, loom to ignition module, failing from vibration and poor mounting of module, carburetor internal components slide vibrating loose and causing poor running, carb boot failure, fork seals, case right clutch cover leak, pretty good for a dirt bike pushing 50000km. Complaints, forks are too soft, power could be better, seat could be softer (comparing with similar bikes its great), it should have an oil cooler and better wind protection. riding on the highway at 100km/h @ 40deg c oil will be around 130deg. Oh and my clutch just about needs adjustment.

Ive had more than 30 bikes, so far the xt 600 was the only one i regretted selling.Super reliable, cheap to mantain, easy to work on.Its not true that its heavy off road i hammered that bike up mountains of italy and along dirt tracks.Never let me down even after i dropped it a few times.

Well it's heavy compared to an true Enduro KTM, or WR. But is it really made for that? It's great for sand roads and mild off-road

112mph... I can barely get 85 out of mine and it feels like it's trying to kill me doing it!!

Had my 3TB for ten years and wouldn't part with it for all the tea in china !
Its not fast, its not comfortable (over 60 miles is a pain in the arse) and its not fantastic on the tarmac. BUT it starts first time in the morning, will run all day long, can be fixed by the side of the road with a basic tool kit and it just keeps going. Its good at everything, but not fantastic at anything at all.......... Go buy one and have a lot of fun.

I run an 03 model as a winter bike and it's a great commuter and solid as a rock but it is very very very very slow. Handles well though. I can't imagine doing 100, 75 is about as much as you'd want to do.
