sorry to say but i recently saw something addressing if there would be more but they decided not to, they had a bunch of issues getting the script just right & took nearly 5yrs to complete, it was because of a patreon goal so they made it a one shot

This version of the MC is much better than in the actual anime because he actually says no to getting a child bride.

I was at the live stream where SWE debuted this video. The shock in their voices when chat revealed to them that Smartphone got a season 2 was hilarious.
Which is why a Smart Phone Abridged 2 is inevitable. Izzy can't run from it forever.

well the author of isekai smartphone writes multiple light novel's volumes per year, it has 27 volumes published to date. it had enough volumes for 2 more seasons when season 1 aired. meanwhile, NGNL had only 6 volumes when season 1 aired in 2014 and it has 12 volumes till date. so we might get season 2 in this decade as it finally has material to adapt into anime.

The backlash killed the deal before anything was legally binding (or the backlash nulled the agreements i forget which)

I looked it up, and yes, Sushi is in fact a recurring character and one of the mc's wives. And also, canonically, 10 years old in this episode. Burning down the mansion instead is the better route for this story by far.

Why is this hilarious? Well, while her being 13 may seem to make it legal in multiple countries if you look at age of consent maps, age of consent is only as low as it is in most of those because it is flexible.
You already mentioned 1 of the 2 flexibilities, countries or states which simply make it legal so long as the 2 participants are minors, very common amongst US states. However the favourite for europe (and most of the world) is to have an "age gap" of sorts. That is, if the 2 participans are of similar ages (say, 13 and 16), its not pedofilia. This is introduced to avoid the awkwardness of having to deal with 17-18 year old couples that may find themselves suddently being illegal for a few months.
Point is, this gap is even amongst the more generous countries a 5 year gap. So by making the MC just a few months over that 5 year limit, he is in fact considered a pedo in most of planet earth even counting for the gap, and as you pointed out since he waits until he's 18, he can't even be saved by being a minor himself. Meaning that the only countries where his situation wouldn't end with cops breaking down his door and chris hansen having a field day are the few islamic fundamentalist exceptions. (Notably, age of consent is a hard 12 in Iran, Yemen, Morocco and some minor islamic countries because Mohammed married a 12 year old when he was in his 40s so they think that makes it OK. Its 9 in another country whose name I forgot, its the only country on earth with an age lower than 12 too so I guess they just wanted to be extra creepy. And Saudy Arabia and Oman both just up the ante by having no consent laws at all and simply assuming consent was given so long as the couple is married and it was rape of they werent, plus having no age limit for marriages and allowing for forced marriages as indeed their arranged marriage tradition means consent isn't needed from either party, just their legal guardians (read closest male relatives.)

Nyannners than started dogpiling him since she dislikes him and got the other Vshojo girls to join in on it saying that he endangered them and didn't respect their privacy despite the fact that Vshojo gave Nux permission to release the video. Big drama, Nux was backstabbed by a lot of people that he was close to including Melody and had his name dragged through the mud even though Nux did nothing wrong. The drama ended when everyone just agreed to put it behind them with Nux apologizing to them. The Vshojo girls also apologized but Zen was the only one to do so publicly under Nux's tweet, however Melody did not apologize at all.
Basically Melody threw Nux under the bus and didn't apologize.
Apparently this took 5 years to finish writing this. Probably lots of writer blocks trying to figure out how to make it all work and be as perfect as this.

I won't pretend it was ever good but I stopped reading (Because I'm the worst kind of degenerate) once his wives started deciding without him whether girls were fit for his harem. Like I can enjoy a trash power fantasy but if you're gonna have a harem you should at least have a say in who's in it.

I'm pretty sure I tried watching this anime twice... never got more than halfway through the first episode, just felt too much like everything was going his way without any sort of humorous take on the situation.

Season 2 pretty good
Season 1, for 4 episodes.. was pretty decent. But it quickly devolves into pure harem. And not the sexy kind. The awkward, barely hand-holding kind. The plot stops entirely for season 2. Its just dates, or him trying to hide from going on dates.
It’s the anime equivalent of a trashy soap opera. It’s objectively bad in many many ways, but people watch it anyway because it’s somehow entertaining in its trashiness.

The attempted robbery was actually worse in terms of Logic in the original.
The Girls did a Quest to get that Crystal Horn from a rare Monster for the dumbass Guys in exchange for Gold but the Guys didnt want to pay so they pointed out the crack in the crystal wich supposedly means they wont get as much Gold for it as originally and therefore the Girls wont get the Reward.
So why did these Girls do Quest from a bunch of shady Guys and not the later established Guild Office? Why did they not sell the Horn themselves if it's so rare and expensive?
Why did they give the Robbers the Horn before seeing the Money in some City allyway? Well so that Toya can be the "BADASS ISEKAI PROTAG" and beat them up Guiltfree.
And what that makes the Girls admire him? That moment us so played up that ya think he didnt just defeat two lowlives but Slayed a Dragon and saved their lives from motal danger.

I have a hard time watching people bully this show, because it’s actually one of my favorites. The anime itself is not very good, but I remember watching it over and over again after I first found it when it originally aired. I fell in love with the characters and the situations they found themselves in. When I realized it wouldn’t get another season, I tried to find the manga, but there was even less content there. I would eventually stumble upon Bookwalker and end up buying every volume of the source light novel, falling even more in love with it as I would realize how much was cut out in adaptation to the anime, and I can’t in good conscience consider the anime good anymore. I love the series, but I hate what the anime did to it.
Watching you for a long time I believe you'd find listening the conversation between him the king and the Duke in one of the the later episodes from another creator amusing ..

I watched it when it first came out, by that time, I didn't have a standard for animes, I saw a season 2 was finally out and wanted to restart it as I did, at the time, have fond memories of it, but I couldn't sit through more then 5-10 minutes of it and I stopped.
