@@namecomingsoon9517 He SAYS he did, but the fact that he couldn't even recognize the spirit bomb and he didn't even know the joke about Dende crushing on Gohan tells me that he's only seen a few episodes or clips. Just enough to know some of the big jokes in the series (Vegeta no Vegeta yes and I need an adult for example). Either way even if he has seen the abridged series it's no replacement for watching the actual show. Even Team Four Star would tell you that.

I think the regenerating villains thing in Dragon Ball Z was largely a trick post Frieza to force flashier finishes. While Frieza being cut down by his own attack was thematically perfect, it was visually a bit lame. So they make villains who have to be taken out in one huge attack to force fights to end with a flashy signature move.
That makes way too much sense! Probably explains why Kishimoto wrote his last 2 Villains Madara and Kaguya to have a healing factor

Cell bucked the self destruct tend, but showed potential to survive before that; Vegita's move wasn't definitionally a sacrifice, so getting more durable could explaining him surviving the second time, especially if he wasn't going for a sacrifice. Since Z, Ki's worked such that when the defence is stronger that the attack, it can just be tanked or swatted away.
