What a day! I bonked 2km to go. Banging on empty!! And by the way no problem on the first climb. All was gone after 5 min. I really like the atmosphere of the Haute Route Dolomites. And riding in my place…goosebumps!!
Amazing effort once again Daniele! I still don't understand how you can climb as fast as you do while looking like a terminator sprinter :) Pure power!
Good stuff Jasper, we both had a good day! Didn't realise you were so close behind me at the finish! Yet again another great vlog, gets me inspired for next season.
Thanks mate! Yeah I got reaaaaly close, but i didn't know u till I rolled into that tent hahah. Super legs that day!💪 Great fight for position between you and Daniele. While editting this video i noticed you where standing right next to me after the finish while I was trying to keep my shit together, totally ignoring your compliment. Holy crap you guys are pushing! And you’re filming at the same time?!! By the way, thanks for triggering my fondest cycling memories - I took up cycling when I was 49, loved it, and one year later I went to the Dolomites and climbed Stelvio, Gavia, Fedaia, Tonale, Mortirolo, Pordoi, the whole kabang. So hard, so amazing and rewarding. 56 now, still climbing. Your videos are an inspiration to keep doing exactly that!
You're a fighter and absolutely one if not the one I really look up too when it comes to cycling. Keep up your amazing work, you inspire so many of us to keep pushing 💪🏻
Wow that was freaking awesome!!!! I also have that same cycling trip dream ahead to the dolomites to climb those iconic climbs… and that feeling you had… simply a mountain of emotions together at that finish line!!! Congrats for such an incredible performance and experience you lived there!!!
wow. what a video and series. love it. thanks. all the kudos! also, that sun that came out at 4:54 ...stunning. EDIT: that final push you did, so awesome. Unleash the beast indeed!
Somehow I have a feeling Stelvio man is gonna get revenge for this transgression! I cant wait for a Stelvio man counterattack!!! Força Daniele! Hupp Jasper!!!
Awesome job Jasper, killing it in the mountains once again! :) Loving this whole series, your best one yet no doubt! BTW are using a blood sugar monitor on your arm, do you find it beneficial for your training or race fueling strategy?
It is amazing you did so well considering you are from flat place like me. It takes 2 to 3 weeks to get used to altitude.the altitude just takes the power away .thankfully you did umbrail .the mortirolo is great as training. I did mortirolo then gavia then stelvio in one day.the body is stronger than you think! Congrats.
Another week, another great video. Was a great but very tough day. Remember the lights going out 12 bends from the top of the second climb. Tough. Echo what John @alpinecadencecycling said, gets the goose bumps going for the next one!
@@horsepowercoachingwheelsby9546 yes Tom, I have to put some much into these days to get a result and he can just chat and film as a sideline, impressive. It was great riding with you too, hope I get to ride with you again next year
12 bends to the top is like the Alpe d'Huez!😵 Dude, pretty cool yo have a race through out the week! It was really about the long multi day endurence in the end. I was surprised i could keep up for 5 days as i had never done something like that before. Let's go next year!💪💪
That's why I love mtb/road mountain stage racing. Pure essence of pain, pure essence of racing and pure essence of life (even if you pedaling squares) :)
I do not envy you but you definitely got my respect. Hard efforts followed by thin air. You are tough 💪. But you are fit enough to live the cyclist dream.
Have done the 4 main stelvio routes many times (only on Rouvy though). One thing I have noticed is that when you get to the switchbacks - the left turns drop the incline gradient by approx 2% whilst the right turns increase the incline by around 1 to 2 %. If you are aware of this you can gain maybe an extra 2 mins faster time. Maybe i will get to do the real thing one day
It’s a bit different in real life where the gradient in a climbing turn will be depending on the line you take through the turn. 👍🏻 inside usually steep, outside usually flat.
You haven't seen your full potential yet. I mentioned when i first found your channel that you are gifted from the Gods ha ha ha 😆👍 You will only get stronger.
I had 2 flats on the downhill. 1st on a straight, 2nd in a wide corner. Luckily no cars moving up from the opposite direction because I could not keep my own lane and went into the terrain. Also lucky that there was no guardrail (10 meters furthers there was). I must admit my heart rate went up a bit ;-). Awesome video again (even clicked on the thumbs up before I watched it)
Well, you can never be above your max heart rate per definition. But riding at altitude puts a great stress on your lungs and heart because of the low oxygen pressure. So you feel those organs working hard!!
@@noels8817 no, for me max heart rate is only achieved when I'm fresh. Not after riding hard for 5 days and on the end of a very tough stage. So i was at maximum available intensity, but nowhere near max heart rate. (My max HR is over 200 and on the end of this climb i may have got up to 180 but I'm not sure I'll have to check the Strava stats.) (You can do that st my Strava)😉
