This is the first ever geographically detailed map of Mecca as it was during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)!

For design i collaborated with the professional team at 3Drenderit Studio.
Due to the mega projects that have been constructed to help support the large numbers of Pilgrims that go for Hajj, the historic geography of the area has become partially lost and mostly invisible. To that end this work had to merge modern maps with several old maps. They include Ottoman maps, Soviet Union Military maps, the Great Britain Naval Intelligence Division 1946 Map of Mecca, the Dutch (Netherlands) C. Snouck Hurgronje 1885 Map of Mecca and several other old Mecca illustrations. It also involved several on site trips. Of more consequence with respect to the locations of key homes, mountain names, and city layout the primary sources were very early Islamic scholars who lived in Mecca and wrote detailed descriptions of who lived where and with detailed descriptions of their locations. These sources include the book History of Mekka by Al-Azraqi who passed away in approximately 250AH (864AD) and contains text originally written in 126AH (743AD) which indicates that the book was his fulfillment and expansion of earlier work by his grandfather Abu Al-Waleed. A second key record is the book The News of Mekka by Al-Fakihi who passed away in 279AH (892AD). Another important source is the book Shifa Al-Gharam which is also a history of Mekka by Al-Fasi who passed away in 832AH (1428AD). Credit is also due to the Dar Al-Medina Museum, and its kind and generous manager Mr. Hassan Tahir for providing a general initial understanding of early Mekka. Their hospitality provided unhindered access to their museum which was very supportive and helpful. I also benefited from the works of Dr Nasser Al-Zahrani, and nearly a decade of research and writing of the Prophet's Biography (PBUH).

I'm Muslim, Alhamdullilah, and have always wondered what the world was like in 500 AD. May Allah grants us Jannah, Ameen, and Ameen, and one of the things I would like to watch on a super giant "3D TV" in Jannah was to see the very beginning of everything! how Allah started with the first creation and to the last day. I'm just sooo curious and astonished by Allah's master class in creating just everything!!!

Found myself here from reading a news story on Mecca 1979, I’m not a Muslim but I found this so interesting. Thank you for this video.
Does anybody else wish they were of the lucky few who lived in Makkah at the prophets pbuh time? No doubts. No conflict within the ummah. No Shia or Sunni. Just pure muslim fulfilling Allah's swt command

Take in the blessings of today of Allah upon us and we wouldnt wish to be from any other time. My concerns in current times is the vast differences between muslims today - we stand by the fact Quran is unchanged and we all should follow our nabi. However, it is difficult to explain why there are so many differences between muslims today. Ultimately this is Allahs will and part of his decree so I shouldnt worry about that. As long as I live in accordance with Quran and sunnah then should be fine In Shaa Allah

Haider Hannan Exposing Gibson’s Petra fallacy: link below after some quotes:
“None of the mosques which Gibson thinks were built facing Petra has anything to do with Petra, ... ”. (DAK, “From Petra back to Makka” (2017).
Quote: “No serious scholar, Muslim or non-Muslim, would ever have thought that mosques might have been deliberately oriented toward somewhere other than Mecca. If they had, they would rightly be considered to be deranged.” (The Petra Fallacy, Early mosques do face the Sacred Kaaba in Mecca but Dan Gibson doesn’t know how, David A King, 2018, Pg 8)
And in pg 11: “Dan Gibson, a Canadian amateur Near East archaeologist with no formal academic training but with Christian missionary connections who has convinced himself and wants to convince the world that Islam started in Petra rather than Mecca and Medina”
Furthermore King says about this stupidity:
the only other person ever to have written generally on the subject of mosque orientations
(a) has no qualifications to correctly interpret the available data;
(b) has no understanding of the fact that MODERN directions from one place to another cannot be used to investigate the reasons underlying the orientation of PRE-MODERN architecture;
(c) seems oblivious to the fact that there is well-established discipline called archaeoastronomy and has no understanding of astronomical alignments;
(d) has erred monumentally in his interpretation of mosques that were built on pre-existing religious architecture or to fit with pre-Islamic city plans;
(e) has no understanding of how mosques were laid out over the centuries;
(f) has no control over any of the numerous medieval Arabic sources - legal, astronomical, folk astronomical, and mathematical, geographical - relating to the determination of the qibla; and
(g) prefers to refrain from citing the vast existing bibliography on the subject.
Worse still, he
(g) has settled on a nice-enough locality, Petra, as the focus of early Islam where in the early 7th century there were no Arabs, no Muslims, and no Jews, and, in brief, there was not much going on.
And worse than that,
(h) both his activities in a field which he does not master and his false conclusions have already contributed to somewhat dubious causes.
More highlights; “To give credence to his Petra theory Gibson needs to rewrite the history of science, a subject about which he is singularly uninformed.”
King later says : “At my advanced age I have no time to waste writing about crackpot theories like that of Dan Gibson. Nevertheless, I feel I must write these few pages trying to show how crazy and potentially dangerous they are.”
Details are in linked paper below but ill just say that Gibson’s amazing level of ignorance is way beyond what King had focused on because king wanted to focus on specifically the Qibla issue but at least it saves me from wasting time on the rest of this pathetic idea.

I recommend you Google Earth Petra. The Abrahamic 'Mother of all Cities' could never have been that far south. I also draw you attention to the Hattim (which was part of an older and original structure) and the orientation of the Kaaba. It runs parallel to the direction of Madina to Petra

Why House of Ibrahim or Abraham AS was Made “”Kaba”” and every one was prescribed to visit that, at least once in his life time???
Because Ibrahim/Abraham/Brahma started his struggle against falsehood (fake religions) on his self, on built in logic, reasoning or bios, uploaded by God, without any direct heavenly guidance at first. 91:8
Establishing an Example for reasoning, Just and logic Human.
That is why the visit of Kaba or Hujj is to understand Struggle the example (أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ) of Ibrahim AS.
And after his strong struggle with his family and people he reaches a situation, out of home and office, and then lying on road with tears in his eyes and look towards skies and prays “”what we pray before starting salah/namaz”” 6:79
so pray recite that ayaath/verse of Haneef before the Namaz that way.
إِنِّي وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ﴿٧٩﴾
Verily I turn myself (after disappointment from every means), towards the direction of One who created, by His power skies and earth and I worship only Him. And I’m not among the one who associates with Him (6:79).
Ibrahim AS best Example Surat Mumtahina 60 (The Examiner)
قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَآءُ مِنكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّـهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّىٰ تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّـهِ وَحْدَهُ إِلَّا قَوْلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ لَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ اللَّـهِ مِن شَيْءٍ ۖ رَّبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ ﴿٤﴾
Certainly for you is a best lesson in Ibrahim and his followers.
When they said to their people, “we are Independent of you and what you worship other than Allah,
I reject you, there is separation between you and me with enmity.
Until you believe in One God.
But he said to his father “I will ask forgiveness for you, but I have no authority in affairs of Allah for the least.
Oh my Lord I trust on you, and to you we return, and with you is our destination. 60:4
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ﴿٥﴾
Oh Our Lord don’t make us shameful / fun before the disbelievers, and forgive us, Oh our Lord.
Verily, you are the most powerful in sciences (working techniques) (60:5).
لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِيهِمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّـهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّـهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ ﴿٦﴾
Definitely for you, is beautiful example in them, those who return to Allah and the last day.
And those who turn away (from Allah), verily He is Allah, He is independent and magnificent. 60:6
Point to Note:
There is best Example (أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ) once said for Mohammed PBUH, but twice for Ibrahim AS.
And pages covered in Quran, in discussion of Ibrahim AS, is second to Mosa AS.
Ibrahim AS is mentioned 63 times and Mosa AS 163 time, Mariyam 34, Yousf 27, Looth 27,
Esa AS 25 times, Isaaqh 16, Yaqob 16, Ismail 12, Youns 4,
Believing in raised/birth/self Religion as “”authentic”” from which you came, without the studying of all others religions available, is NOT fair, NOT just, NOT logic and NOT correct.
It is same as, “a judge passing a judgment in court of Law, by just listening to one side of case / hearing and ignoring the other”.
Then who on earth, will consider the Judgment correct or Just ??
So you too before passing your Judgment on your religion….. Study all major religions.

قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَآءُ مِنكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّـهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّىٰ تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّـهِ وَحْدَهُ إِلَّا قَوْلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ لَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ اللَّـهِ مِن شَيْءٍ ۖ رَّبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ ﴿٤﴾
Certainly for you is a best lesson in Ibrahim and his followers.
When they said to their people, “we are Independent of you and what you worship other than Allah,
I reject you, there is separation between you and me with enmity.
Until you believe in One God.
But he said to his father “I will ask forgiveness for you, but I have no authority in affairs of Allah for the least.
Oh my Lord I trust on you, and to you we return, and with you is our destination. 60:4
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ﴿٥﴾
Oh Our Lord don’t make us shameful / fun before the disbelievers, and forgive us, Oh our Lord.
Verily, you are the most powerful in sciences (working techniques) (60:5).
لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِيهِمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّـهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّـهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ ﴿٦﴾
Definitely for you, is beautiful example in them, those who return to Allah and the last day.
And those who turn away (from Allah), verily He is Allah, He is independent and magnificent. 60:6
Point to Note:
There is best Example (أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ) once said for Mohammed PBUH, but twice for Ibrahim AS.
And pages covered in Quran, in discussion of Ibrahim AS, is second to Mosa AS.
Ibrahim AS is mentioned 63 times and Mosa AS 163 time, Mariyam 34, Yousf 27, Looth 27,
Esa AS 25 times, Isaaqh 16, Yaqob 16, Ismail 12, Youns 4,
Believing in raised/birth/self Religion as “”authentic”” from which you came, without the studying of all others religions available, is NOT fair, NOT just, NOT logic and NOT correct.
It is same as, “a judge passing a judgment in court of Law, by just listening to one side of case / hearing and ignoring the other”.
Then who on earth, will consider the Judgment correct or Just ??
So you too before passing your Judgment on your religion….. Study all major religions.
