Love this video! Always known to be a good spot for late night freight-spotting, especially on days when they run throughout the night. Just as cool seeing that last clip without torch light too - very different! I've been meaning to return here for a while.
Thanks. Yeah it's such a nice arnosphere at night. You can see and even hear trains approaching before the crossings activate.
In the US, such a ridiculous amount of time between the signals activating at the train arrival would lead to countless motorists driving around the gates.
Level crossings at night always look rather spooky, especially ones where there isn't much road traffic. That alarm was loud too!
Yeah, it was a little creepy standing at this crossing in the darkness. The alarms don't have a quiet setting here so they were sounding loud all through the night lol
Love the freight trains 🚂
Am i first? TI amazing of trains!!! 😎😎🚂🚄🚂
Mine was the first comment and you were the fourth comment
You can hear the yodal alarm of another crossing nearby.
Surprising that NR bothered to fit this crossing with wigwags and barriers as the road appears to see very little use.
Yes, there is another crossing nearby, called North Fen. This line is quite a busy freight corridor so you get quite a lot of freight trains passing 50mph+. Although it isn't frequently by used by road traffic, I still think barriers are needed.
I got a notification saying “for you: JP level crossing UK” I wonder why I got this.
Nice video! This is not used by almost anything except trains do maybe it'll get closed on the future, despite not wanting it to, lol
Thank you. A new road / access arrangement is probably required if this crossing was to ever be closed. As it is so infrequently used it'll be a low-risk crossing, so the chances of closure are quite slim.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel true but the amount if time the crossing isn't needed though would maybe suggest closure, but this is definetely worth a visit from me soon
@EastAngliaLC_UK Oh yeah I'd put this on your list for this year. There's about five AHB crossings on a 2 mile stretch, and the line is perfectly straight so you can see trains in the distance approaching before the crossing activates.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel I'll try to, but that's for next year probably. Also, depends how frequent the trains go on this line as I will probably have already moved on
UK roads are terrible
That blackout shot at the end was awesome!
