well done! I recommend a similar process to insulate attic stair enclosures. If I build this type of enclosure I would use the feature you added to allow the cover to pivot without using a hinge if there is enough space. Here in Maine I do recommend at least 2, and preferably 3, layers of foam board and insulating the interior of all seams using spray foam to maximize the R value and minimize air leakage.

I used U bolts washers and nuts to hold the pivoting dowel rod and an eye bolt to "hook" the box for raising and lowering
