      Alan Dow yes I totally agree. Out of all the builds I watch, and they are all pretty good in their own right, this is the guy I would commission a build out of all of them.

    nice to see a first ride, and a nice surprise on the electronic ignition already being in it. little more of a nasty surprise on the diode, but, it happens, and good to see the diagnosis on it. Question, the pod filters, are the an oiled foam filter? if so, might want to do a how to or something on cleaning and oiling them, I have done this myself, but am sure many viewers haven't and/or might not be aware of this aspect of some foam filters. Awsome video once again, thanks for putting them up.

    Man you need to adjust that camera on the helmet. Throttle not coming down fast enough after letting go of the throttle, that is an indication of intake leak. Diodes keep the current from going back down the line only in one direction. You can use two diodes in opposite poles and make it into a voltage limiter to set a voltage to a proper limiter as a limiter circuit.

    I really appreciate all of your videos I've posted before on how you've inspired me to start my rebuild on my CB's both 1981's 900custom and 750 just tore down my 900 fixing to blast engine to clean the freaking black rattle can off. Question what seats do you use want that café look without having to cut and weld. And do you have any suggestions for good frame prep and paint?
    Thanks again for your time and videos.

    Fantastic. Still curious what you will be doing with the front fender. Love the sound too. As for the rear (and I know there is a vid for it but I will put my thought here), perhaps do the cut out for the wing nuts, but shape the cut to look smoother. If that doesn't work, maybe at the very least have part of the fender to block the air exit for your electronics. Either way, really looking forward to the completion of this awesome project!

    Hey, I had one of these diodes on my 73 CG125, my bike didn't have a regulator/rectifier in the wiring diagram so I just thought that this was it. I was having serious wiring issues with bulbs blowing out and swapping this didn't make a difference. Still to this day can't figure out whether it is a rectifier or not.

    Hi Taylor. The starter solenoid requires a negative to operate. The negative comes from either the clutch switch (pulled in) and or the bike neutral switch. The diode is to prevent the clutch switch back feeding to the neutral indicator light. I have cx500, the drawing clearly demonstrates this.

    Just binge watched this entire playlist. Great! My first bike was a '73 CB500 Four.
    This channel is the best thing since the original BBC Wheeler Dealers. Bravo.
    I'm concerned with one thing I noticed on the first ride video. Are the handle bars bent? The left grip looks closer to the rear than the front. As there was a substantial dent on the left side I'm wondering if the bar was bent too.
    Really enjoying the channel. Keep up the good work.

    the diode is for the clutch safety switch and neutral safety switch so only one or the other has to be active to start the bike.

    Don't know what made you think your black power was shorted to ground, but on my cb750 the resistance from the black to ground is 2.2 ohms, key off of course. This is due to bulbs. If it were truly shorted it would immediately blow the main fuse. I could imaginne a little grease or whatever smoking as current ran thru it for the neutral light.

      Yeah, the mechanism can get a little sticky over time. Have you tried pushing down on the seat while you turn the key? This will take some of the spring pressure off the mechanism.

    • @ClassicOctane

      Thanks! No, the exhaust is really solid how it is currently. I don't see a need to add another mounting bracket.

    • @ticosandoval
      @ticosandoval 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, so they aren't only held on by the headers then? From the pics, that's what it looks like, but if there's another mounting point...then that's good. After a while, vibration/riding, those header bolts can snap off (I've found this out the hard way...unfortunately). Just a thought.

    Hi Taylor, nice project. I restored 72' CB500 and also has same issues with electicity and found you have also electronic ignition. The question is do you have a electric lack of power? When I turn on all lighs cause we have such regulations in Europe after 200 km battery runs out. I checked everything and found that might be an issue with electronic ignition which takes c.a. 60W of power, when adding all lights plus losses on rectifier, regulator it is more or less same value as alternator produces. Just curious if you also noticed such problems.

    • @JalapenoJello

    • @ClassicOctane

    Don’t mind the long explains. Keep it going bro. One question. Do most bikes have the headlight on all the time or do people have switches other than the hand control?

    • @zakarygoodmanson8965
      @zakarygoodmanson8965 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sevenity Guitars the majority of bikes have a running light, meaning the tail and front light are always on at a very low setting. Some older bikes don’t have this but the majority of newer bikes do

    Quick question to Taylor and the viewers: My CB350 plugs always come out black with deposits, wipes off. Based on spark plug charts, its running too rich. So i adjusted the needle to run lean, but it made no difference. Is my carb not working properly? some days the bike would not start and if i remove the spark plug, its coated with fuel. any advise is greatly appreciated.

    Camera angle and audio should be considered in the next video. Just constructive criticism, wider angle would be better for riding videos so we (as the viewer) can see the street also, and I know you hadn't anticipated the wiring section of the video, but I want to say I could hear your fan oscillating through the mic? Are you currently using a microphone cover/filter? Like I said, just an observation to help the video quality, enjoy the content you've been putting out.
