I come to you from an even further future to respond that DICE choose wisely after their second Battlefront game had a disaster of a launch. After the backlash the devs decided to listen to the fan feedback and I would argue the current Battlefront game in my time surpasses the original. I literally played both the 2017 and 2005 Battlefronts back to back to test this and although I did enjoy playing the 2005 game, its starting to show its age, at least in my time.

Anita Sarkeesian...mentioned in an Angry Joe video...I think I need to sit down for a moment. I think you missed the point of why people are outraged at her Joe. There is so much I can say about her. Anyone who even bothered to look up the controversies that surround her will understand why. And I'm not talking about opinions...but cold, hard facts and the many contradictions, lies, twisting of data, and other things that have arose since this all started...even some before. I'll be honest, I don't like her but I don't think she should have gotten that overreaction. If she honestly thinks that there is something wrong, it is in her right to express herself...but the way she is going about all of this is so highly questionable, that it seems like something about her is discovered almost every month that contradicts her and discredits her. It's really a shame since I was actually looking forward to her "Women vs Tropes" video series. I may be a guy, but I'm not blind or deaf to intellectual conversation.That's actually how I initially found her, since I thought I would find it there. I guess none of this will matter anyway. The public only sees that she, a female, was attacked by male gamers, which I have to question as well, and nothing else. That's what was put on the news and that's the only thing people seem to care about. I've done my research on her to make sure I'm getting my facts straight. I even conducted some independent research where I listed the number and ratio of characters and their genders in the majority of games I own (around 170 now) to get a better picture of all of this. And I'm still adding on to it with every new game I get. I'm just getting tired of this subject since I'm automatically the one in the wrong since I oppose her. Regardless, interesting video. Sure, there's sexism in games, but that's because developers most often aim at their Male market. Women are 47% of the gaming population (that's actually a fact), but they're still seen as a minority in devs eyes and gamer eyes because they're not audible. Neither did I! I actually embarked on a TH-cam adventure following this video, a "Quest for Anita" you might say... and discovered that there is an almost universal revulsion towards her from the gaming community, and for apparently good reason. Joe makes some valid points about trolls in the internet community, but it's nearly impossible to watch Anita's videos as a gamer and not cringe in agony at the blanket terms and generalizations she makes towards gamers. Except Anita's oppinions are largely (this is coming from a girl, not a man) wrong and she using various tactics to confuse her viewers. Things she has shown were taken out of context by a large degree and the way she words her observations are confusing and made to mislead. Also she dissed Fem!Shep, who is the better Shepard in Mass effect. If anything, Male Shepard is a Mrs. Man, cause he's horrible. His voice actor is lack luster in all three games and it really grates on the mood. All the lines are pretty much the same, and Fem!Shep's voice actress out shined him. Also, Fem!Shep has the better romance option, which is Garrus. Tali was cute, but she couldn't compare to the romance with Garrus. It could have been just as good, but again, Male!Shep's voice actor was lack luster and it damaged the charm.
I loved maleshep voice actor just as much as femshep. 'Well bang okay?' I mean, yeah he can be a little lackluster at times, but at the same time Femshep can be too cliche/corny in some moments that made me cringe during the games. However no one is perfect and I love them both and I do realize that it's mostly preference based.

I agree with Anita on some of her points about video games, I do often think women are overly victimised in games and I do think that that needs to change to some extent. I agree with Joe on many things but with Anita I am gonna have to draw the line, there is plenty of reasons why people dislike her. She is intellectually dishonest, silences anyone who dare challenges her arguments, conned thousands of idiots out of 160,000 dollars, stole videos from other youtubers and gave them no credit what so ever, is not actually a gamer as she herself has admitted and much more. She also has made bad points that can easily be refuted and avoids debates for this reason. I believe he was making a statement that 'death threats' and 'rape threats' for someone who isn't a threat (even if she is deemed selfish, the bad kind of feminist, and so on) is improper and just sad. Honestly, if you want to shut down her arguments and thunder, the community has to post counter-arguments and such as well as solutions to the problems that DO exist in tv/videogames/publicmedia. However when people state they wish to rape her, then what happens? She becomes victimized and instantly gains the moral high ground. And in the war of public media, you NEVER want your opponent to gain the moral high grounds. You can still create your own videos as a counter-argument to her statements as well as pointing how how much of a fraud she is, but people mostly just do rape and death threats from what I am seeing, and that is why it is on number three, from what I believe. I don't remember the exact details of this conversation we're having. (Was a few weeks ago, plus it's a very long read), but no matter how low someone reacts, they should not be treated with death threats or rape threats. I understand the point you were making was about the trolls and emotionally-charged responses, but there were plenty of opposing opinions that were far more logical than you lead on. I also made a video, but honestly I think his was better. lifebarier I think you need to read up on the law. Legally, a threat is defined as a spoken/written word used to control/intimidate others. It is illegal to say "bitch i'll rape you". Which many gamers did do to Sarkeesian. The game is not a threat nor illegal but it is still offensive to that person.

About the Anita thing, I'm perfectly fine with her having her opinion. If she thinks that most video games portray women as over-sexualized damsels, more power to her. However, what I dislike about it is the way she goes as to support her claims. She rips footage that isn't sexually demeaning in the slightest, she also takes clips and cuts them to where it seems that way. She's taken full blown cutscenes and exploited and twisted them to over-sexualize damsels. Not to mention she's taken clips from Let's Players for her plight. I disagree, she's allowed to have the position she possesses, however back it up with valid evidence to support it. Not overreact. Again, she's allowed to have the opinion just need to prove it better.

I come to you from an even further future to respond that DICE choose wisely after their second Battlefront game had a disaster of a launch. After the backlash the devs decided to listen to the fan feedback and I would argue the current Battlefront game in my time surpasses the original. I literally played both the 2017 and 2005 Battlefronts back to back to test this and although I did enjoy playing the 2005 game, its starting to show its age, at least in my time.

I think you missed the point of why people are outraged at her Joe.
There is so much I can say about her. Anyone who even bothered to look up the controversies that surround her will understand why. And I'm not talking about opinions...but cold, hard facts and the many contradictions, lies, twisting of data, and other things that have arose since this all started...even some before.
I'll be honest, I don't like her but I don't think she should have gotten that overreaction. If she honestly thinks that there is something wrong, it is in her right to express herself...but the way she is going about all of this is so highly questionable, that it seems like something about her is discovered almost every month that contradicts her and discredits her.
It's really a shame since I was actually looking forward to her "Women vs Tropes" video series. I may be a guy, but I'm not blind or deaf to intellectual conversation.That's actually how I initially found her, since I thought I would find it there.
I guess none of this will matter anyway. The public only sees that she, a female, was attacked by male gamers, which I have to question as well, and nothing else. That's what was put on the news and that's the only thing people seem to care about.
I've done my research on her to make sure I'm getting my facts straight. I even conducted some independent research where I listed the number and ratio of characters and their genders in the majority of games I own (around 170 now) to get a better picture of all of this. And I'm still adding on to it with every new game I get. I'm just getting tired of this subject since I'm automatically the one in the wrong since I oppose her.

Also she dissed Fem!Shep, who is the better Shepard in Mass effect. If anything, Male Shepard is a Mrs. Man, cause he's horrible. His voice actor is lack luster in all three games and it really grates on the mood. All the lines are pretty much the same, and Fem!Shep's voice actress out shined him.
Also, Fem!Shep has the better romance option, which is Garrus. Tali was cute, but she couldn't compare to the romance with Garrus. It could have been just as good, but again, Male!Shep's voice actor was lack luster and it damaged the charm.

As much as I love the classic hero rescues princess story (Zelda is my life) I see no harm in a call to mix it up a bit and give women a more dynamic roll in mainstream videogames, or in mainstream media in general for that matter

I think that whole Anita Sarkeesian was just a train wreck in the making from the start. Look I have no issue as a gamer with someone wants to talk about issues they have with the culture. The issue I have is if someone paints with such a broad brush, is there sexism in gaming...yes, but what about society in general. Look do I think we need more female character that are strongly developed and don't fall into stereotypes, of course. But doesn't excuse that someone from attack something that they aren't familiar or refuse to give a fair and honest discussion. Joe has criticized the opposing side for trying to silence her while also failing to realize that she does the same exact thing. It's already inclusive. My wife enjoys a wide variety of videogames, and doesn't feel the need for them to be ''girlied up' for her. She's an avid RPG gamer, and the genre has a plethora of strong female characters. The problem is, Anita is ignoring that and pointing a spotlight on popular games such as Mario and Zelda to make it seem as though the industry is 100% anti-woman. It's heavily misrepresenting the facts to make it seem like it truly is a problem! Whatever happened to artistic license? Feminism is actually promoting equality, and most, if not every single one of my friends are a feminist. Honestly, if you want to shut down her arguments and thunder, the community has to post counter-arguments and such as well as solutions to the problems that DO exist in tv/videogames/publicmedia. However when people state they wish to rape her, then what happens?
She becomes victimized and instantly gains the moral high ground. And in the war of public media, you NEVER want your opponent to gain the moral high grounds. Heck, you never want it to be a war, instead you want it to be an educational moment where minds can meet, dispell illusions and fix problems that do exist.

I CLEARLY said that death threats and the like are stupid, but that DOES NOT equal to you defending her. She's wrong, and literally partaking in propaganda. Does she have some points? You can still create your own videos as a counter-argument to her statements as well as pointing how how much of a fraud she is, but people mostly just do rape and death threats from what I am seeing, and that is why it is on number three, from what I believe.
I don't remember the exact details of this conversation we're having. (Was a few weeks ago, plus it's a very long read), but no matter how low someone reacts, they should not be treated with death threats or rape threats.

Lol Porn can't be taken away no matter how hard someone tried. I've seen humble artists that NO ONE knows about (I'm one of them) who can draw porn and hentai better than nearly anything you can find on the internet. To think about it, doesn't anyone think that if porn was taken away entirely, things would get out of control? Now, in regards to #3 Anita, I feel you kinda skewed the controversy a little. I understand the point you were making was about the trolls and emotionally-charged responses, but there were plenty of opposing opinions that were far more logical than you lead on. Thunderf00t, was a pretty good one, and while I disagree with plenty of what he has said in other videos, he was pretty spot on in his three part video. I also made a video, but honestly I think his was better.
A difference in perspective is one thing, but she had numerous logical fallacies within her videos and belief structure, which is where much of the more valid opposition comes from.
What I mean to say is that you led on that there were less valid opinions being expressed than there actually were with your examples. There were dozens of good examples of rational response videos to her series.
I also didn't appreciate your generalized condescension. That's not cool.

Legally, a threat is defined as a spoken/written word used to control/intimidate others. It is illegal to say "bitch i'll rape you". Which many gamers did do to Sarkeesian. The game is not a threat nor illegal but it is still offensive to that person.

Not only is it horrifically immoral, it is also immensely ineffective and makes thing harder for those who just want to debunk nonsense arguments. As someone who dislikes The Last Jedi for legitimate reasons like plot issues, worldbuilding issues, issues in character development, etc., I have found it almost impossible to discuss these things, because of people who spout sexist and racist garbage about the film. About the Anita thing, I'm perfectly fine with her having her opinion. If she thinks that most video games portray women as over-sexualized damsels, more power to her. However, what I dislike about it is the way she goes as to support her claims. She rips footage that isn't sexually demeaning in the slightest, she also takes clips and cuts them to where it seems that way. She's taken full blown cutscenes and exploited and twisted them to over-sexualize damsels. Not to mention she's taken clips from Let's Players for her plight. I disagree, she's allowed to have the position she possesses, however back it up with valid evidence to support it. Not overreact. Again, she's allowed to have the opinion just need to prove it better.
It seems also contradicting that in spite of her ripping content from other people without permission whatsoever, still needed the "donations" to make "research" on her "project". Did she blow all that money on the visual transitions?
