On the matter of Games Journalists: Does ANYONE take reviews on IGN or in Gameinformer seriously? I haven't given two cents what the big outlets think about games for years now and myself and most of my friends who are gamers get our reviews exclusively form people like Joe, totalbiscuit, and Yatzee. There seems to be a pretty universal consensus among serious gamers that the big "industry" reviewers can be bought and can't be trusted.
Zack Reid Reviews might play about 2 hours of a game before they write a review. The more it is rushed, the less accurate it tends to be. All "News sites," are competing to get their reviews out first. They are less respectable.

The industry pays attention when dissenting voices become widely known more trusted than their preferred 'reviewers' and don't like it. edit. Totalbiscuit exposed an example of this in his WTF is Shadow of Mordor? video where he told about the marketing firm paying youtube reviewers for favorable coverage. Jim Sterling too. Before that there was the controversy where MS paid youtube hosts for favorable coverage of the Xbox One. If you want to look that up look up "XB1M13", the code that was used for it.

I agree. It's a damn game. first of all, how do they think Lara Croft became a bad ass, how do they think it's so easy for Lara now is able to man handle a grown man? Because this is her origin story, it had to be like that, she had to be badly beaten next to death, so she can bounce back from that to be 10x stronger and smarter. honestly #10 is kind of rediculous. Clearly it was meant to indicate that he was going to rape her but it only makes sense if you think about it. There a band of raiders who have been stuck on an island without any women for years. On top of that they are mercenaries who aren't exactly known to be moral upstanding people. Laura is young and pretty to boot. I would find myself questioning the situation more if they weren't considering it. Like it or not the game accurately portrayed what would happen to a young girl in that situation.
Number 7 is unfair. They had never planned on making a sequel to Bayonetta, until the developers were contacted by Nintendo, asking them to make a sequel for them, exclusively.

How was Bayonetta 2 a controversy? Sega axed the franchise, and Nintendo picked up the bill for the game. It's fairly clear why it's only on Wii U. If it wasn't an exclusive, it wouldn't even be a thing in the first place.
It was a controversy because they didn't immediately say that Nintendo payed the bill for an otherwise cancelled game. Before it came out it was just "Okay, we're not releasing this on all platforms, just WIIU, thanks for your understanding". At least that's how I understand the controversy.

Uhg.....I really dislike Game Journalism. No one is happy with anything and everyone has the "I dislike your opinion so it is invalid" Mindset. Also some shady 'bribery' things and peoples biases don't make it any better. Yes I know we all have our biases, and it is very good if you state that you have one, but don't judge the entire game on your single gripe. An example is a review of GTA V. The reviewer stated he didn't like playing as the bad guy, which is fine, but if you rate the game on that one thing, then that causes flame wars and brawls. tl;dr: Game journalism shouldn't sway the ENTIRE industry.

The Bayo2 exclusivity debate is a rather trivial one. When a new console comes out or a game comes out on a console you don't have like a Playstation or XBOX. You buy the console for the game without complaining. What difference does it make for Wii U? Franchises like Mega Man and Final Fantasy eventually switched from Nintendo to Sony. If you want to play Bayonetta 2 you will have to buy a Wii U.

A few years before they arrested the ARMA III developers, the Greek government tried banning all video games to stop online gambling. ..you read that correctly. Greek officials have no clue on how to even tell different types of games apart, so frankly the arrest only disappoints me.
Since I live in Greece, I'll fill you in on a contradiction, 8 years later. Not only have games blown up here, but it's online casinos with minigames and shit that lead the industry in terms of money. Enough to be seeing commercials of over 5 or 6 of these on TV on commercial breaks, especially if the program is sports related.
I've never felt the need of game "journalists" before. If I'm interested in a game, I'd go to independent reviewers, websites or just watch a lets play.

It wasn't until years later that Jeff Gerstmann revealed that it was Square-Enix that threatened to pull ad money over the low review that Kane & Lunch had. That and new management fucked it up. It's how Jeff and many others left Gamespot to form Giant Bomb.
I know it's not a game but IGN is super biased when it comes to movies. They pointed out bull claims on Dungeon and Dragons 2. I can't go into detail cause of how annoying it is. Just watch Decker Shadow review of it if you want to flip out.
Honestly, number 7 isn't even a controversy, or it shouldn't be anyway. Nintendo are the reason this game exist, so they get the exclusive, end of story.

As much as I love and support Joe, I have a severe problem with number 7. What if you don't want a Wii U Joe? Then too bad, sit there and bitch about it instead of buying a great console with great games. Arma 3 developers were completely out of their fucking minds for going into a island that has like a shitton of military bases, that is RIGHT ON THE BORDER with Turkey and Greece. Two nations that were about to engage in war 3 times in the last 20 years. The even stupider thing they though is creating a realistic MILITARY SIMULATION OF THE INVASION OF THE ISLAND. Now just hold of for a damn minute and think of this. Creating a game like this, on a place like this on a country that has REAL issues with their neighbours. If anything, they got off easy. They were forced to completely remodel the map, alter the story and change many names. Only and only then they were free to actually leave their prisons. The fact that the Chech Republic didn't go too serious with the whole ordeal was because they knew that the developers had fucked up on a whole other level, and if they took a side it would like going against Greece and pro-Turkey. Lesson of the story? Don't make a realistic combat simulation with location that are a spot on match with the real world on a place that is on a real "hot spot".
You have 0 understanding over actual military warfare so please. Trust me when I say this, most staff that have actual value on a military base are impossible to be captured by google maps or a satellite. Not to mention that almost every single military camp in Greece and all countries is locked in google maps. Meaning.. that when you are about to get close to the road that leads to the base, the location is locked. Also the photographs is the least of the problems.

This will produce mutual respect among male and female gamers and developers. Polarized anti-women and anti-male sentiments are ridiculous, as both are intricate and vital to the existence of games. Historically, men have contributed more, but women are interested and invested in contributing now and there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to. We need people with great ideas and discernment to weed out the garbage and increase our enjoyment as gamers. Yes, men and women are different, but in a wonderful way. Men tend to look for something to add to solve a problem, but women can find a way to reduce or conserve to solve a problem. Best example, Madeline Schroeder's contribution to Sonic. Everyone should have a fair shot and be judge on the content of their projects, not their gender/sex. 3. Acknowledge that ethical concerns can arise when intimacy is involved. No need to point at people, as that creates another conflict of ethics. Drawing attention to specific people can harm them. I think we should all just agree on this and say, maybe it's not a good idea to create any situation (sexual or not) where there is a conflict of interest. 4. Don't create problems where there weren't any. This is of the utmost importance. Don't over analyze a fraction of something and misrepresent the whole. This seems to be what keeps picking at a healing wound. Feminists are now looking for any inequality in games and inventing these massive inequalities when they aren't present, instead of addressing the real inequalities we do see; which for most people (men and women alike) aren't as terrible and offensive as feminists are proclaiming. Likewise, there are anti-feminists who continue to attack characters of individuals and are creating entire conspiracy theories to validate their offense. Neither side is helping nor contributing to resolving the problem. Just stop.

MS buying Rareware was f-ed up, since Perfect Dark and Perfect Dark Zero was exclusive for XBLA and XBox 360, respectively, AND that the games that they produced for NINTENDO were far more better than those that were being made. And their D-Pad on their controller sucks ass. And Sony... Sony has Tekken which is predominantly exclusive to Sony and its products. I like Tekken... And it sucks to see it mainly only on PS.

Normally I think exclusives are kinda bullshit, because there's no real reason (beyond exclusivity marketing and porting) that a game shouldn't be on both PS and xbox and preferably PC too, but for Wii U (and Wii) it actually would make sense for some games to be exclusive - like, how are you gonna play ZombiU on PC without it feeling really amputated?
Well, if they make a game that wouldn't work without the Wii U's secondary monitor, then I can see the point for the exclusivity. Otherwise, you're right, which is my point. That said, and as Joe explained, there probably wouldn't be a sequel if it weren't for that exclusive, so it's a catch-22.

Tomb Raider: I think some people overreacting. The arrest in Greece: Greece's army is modeled after USA's and just like in USA and the rest of the world it's illegal to photograph army (vehicles, personnel, buildings and even its ground). Whoever do it, without special permission is automatically charged of espionage. Greeks had to arrest them even for the eyes of media (they let them go after a while) or else they would have to answer to others. For example, some army bases (and technologies) there are USA's, and they don't want to disappoint such strong allies.
If PS3 and X360 Bayonetta fans really supported the game then it wouldn't have been a wii U exclusive. One of the reasons Bayonetta 2 didn't get funding was because the original sold like crap and publishers were too afraid to fund it. So Nintendo was the only one to actually fund the game and they have the right to make it an exclusive. So without Nintendo the game wouldn't even exist.

On the matter of Games Journalists: Does ANYONE take reviews on IGN or in Gameinformer seriously? I haven't given two cents what the big outlets think about games for years now and myself and most of my friends who are gamers get our reviews exclusively form people like Joe, totalbiscuit, and Yatzee. There seems to be a pretty universal consensus among serious gamers that the big "industry" reviewers can be bought and can't be trusted.

In regards to Number #7, Platinum Games went to Microsoft and Sony but neither of them wanted to fund Bayonetta 2, and that's when Nintendo came in and funded the game, which means without Nintendo Bayonetta 2 would not even EXIST.
That's reason enough for it to be an exclusive because SONY and Microsoft DIDN'T WANT THE SEQUEL ON THEIR CONSOLES

honestly #10 is kind of rediculous. Clearly it was meant to indicate that he was going to rape her but it only makes sense if you think about it. There a band of raiders who have been stuck on an island without any women for years. On top of that they are mercenaries who aren't exactly known to be moral upstanding people. Laura is young and pretty to boot. I would find myself questioning the situation more if they weren't considering it.

Uhg.....I really dislike Game Journalism. No one is happy with anything and everyone has the "I dislike your opinion so it is invalid" Mindset. Also some shady 'bribery' things and peoples biases don't make it any better. Yes I know we all have our biases, and it is very good if you state that you have one, but don't judge the entire game on your single gripe. An example is a review of GTA V. The reviewer stated he didn't like playing as the bad guy, which is fine, but if you rate the game on that one thing, then that causes flame wars and brawls.
tl;dr: Game journalism shouldn't sway the ENTIRE industry.
I'm against the imprisonment of these two people. Also I believe that if these two guys were taking photos of an American military base they would be in an equally difficult situation at least.

The Bayo2 exclusivity debate is a rather trivial one. When a new console comes out or a game comes out on a console you don't have like a Playstation or XBOX. You buy the console for the game without complaining. What difference does it make for Wii U? Franchises like Mega Man and Final Fantasy eventually switched from Nintendo to Sony. If you want to play Bayonetta 2 you will have to buy a Wii U.

..you read that correctly. Greek officials have no clue on how to even tell different types of games apart, so frankly the arrest only disappoints me.
Since I live in Greece, I'll fill you in on a contradiction, 8 years later.
Not only have games blown up here, but it's online casinos with minigames and shit that lead the industry in terms of money. Enough to be seeing commercials of over 5 or 6 of these on TV on commercial breaks, especially if the program is sports related.

You just know that Gamespot's reviewers are often paid to favor certain games over others.. thy'll never admit it and go out of their way to claim otherwise, but we all know it.. that's the reason Jeff Gerstmann was fired.. even though gamespot claimed he was dismissed for reasons that had nothing to do with his review of Kang and Lynch
It wasn't until years later that Jeff Gerstmann revealed that it was Square-Enix that threatened to pull ad money over the low review that Kane & Lunch had. That and new management fucked it up. It's how Jeff and many others left Gamespot to form Giant Bomb.
I know it's not a game but IGN is super biased when it comes to movies. They pointed out bull claims on Dungeon and Dragons 2. I can't go into detail cause of how annoying it is. Just watch Decker Shadow review of it if you want to flip out.

Arma 3 developers were completely out of their fucking minds for going into a island that has like a shitton of military bases, that is RIGHT ON THE BORDER with Turkey and Greece. Two nations that were about to engage in war 3 times in the last 20 years.
The even stupider thing they though is creating a realistic MILITARY SIMULATION OF THE INVASION OF THE ISLAND. Now just hold of for a damn minute and think of this. Creating a game like this, on a place like this on a country that has REAL issues with their neighbours.
If anything, they got off easy. They were forced to completely remodel the map, alter the story and change many names. Only and only then they were free to actually leave their prisons. The fact that the Chech Republic didn't go too serious with the whole ordeal was because they knew that the developers had fucked up on a whole other level, and if they took a side it would like going against Greece and pro-Turkey.
Lesson of the story? Don't make a realistic combat simulation with location that are a spot on match with the real world on a place that is on a real "hot spot".

How to resolve gamer-gate in four steps.
1. Recognize that both sides are talking about two different things. One side is concerned about gender inequality, the other about gaming ethics. Both are valid concerns that are not being heard because of terrible arguments and finger pointing. Discussion should be open and rational, not filled with childish name calling and tantrums.
2. Admit that gaming ethics should be inclusive of women in gaming. That means women are treated fairly/equally... not with a crutch because of their sex... and not with harshness because of their sex. This will produce mutual respect among male and female gamers and developers. Polarized anti-women and anti-male sentiments are ridiculous, as both are intricate and vital to the existence of games. Historically, men have contributed more, but women are interested and invested in contributing now and there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to. We need people with great ideas and discernment to weed out the garbage and increase our enjoyment as gamers. Yes, men and women are different, but in a wonderful way. Men tend to look for something to add to solve a problem, but women can find a way to reduce or conserve to solve a problem. Best example, Madeline Schroeder's contribution to Sonic. Everyone should have a fair shot and be judge on the content of their projects, not their gender/sex.
3. Acknowledge that ethical concerns can arise when intimacy is involved. No need to point at people, as that creates another conflict of ethics. Drawing attention to specific people can harm them. I think we should all just agree on this and say, maybe it's not a good idea to create any situation (sexual or not) where there is a conflict of interest.
4. Don't create problems where there weren't any. This is of the utmost importance. Don't over analyze a fraction of something and misrepresent the whole. This seems to be what keeps picking at a healing wound. Feminists are now looking for any inequality in games and inventing these massive inequalities when they aren't present, instead of addressing the real inequalities we do see; which for most people (men and women alike) aren't as terrible and offensive as feminists are proclaiming. Likewise, there are anti-feminists who continue to attack characters of individuals and are creating entire conspiracy theories to validate their offense. Neither side is helping nor contributing to resolving the problem. Just stop.

Why can't the Wii U have exclusives? Nobody bitches about Uncharted being exclusive, or Halo.
Normally I think exclusives are kinda bullshit, because there's no real reason (beyond exclusivity marketing and porting) that a game shouldn't be on both PS and xbox and preferably PC too, but for Wii U (and Wii) it actually would make sense for some games to be exclusive - like, how are you gonna play ZombiU on PC without it feeling really amputated?

There's a difference between a feminazi and a feminist.
A feminist is someone who supports womens' rights. Simple as that. Thinks girls in poorer countries should go to school, is opposed to those music videos that consist of like, three minutes of boob shots, etc. Equality is cool.. Feminism is cool.
Feminazis believe that all men are sex starved beasts, bigots and idiots, wearing a bra is a symbol of oppression, shaving their legs is apparently showing that they GIVE INTO MALE PRESSURE TO BE ATTRACTIVE (HOLY SHIT) and that any song that mentions a girl is supporting rape or whatever. Apparently, they are against sexism, making them huge fucking hypocrites.

The arrest in Greece: Greece's army is modeled after USA's and just like in USA and the rest of the world it's illegal to photograph army (vehicles, personnel, buildings and even its ground). Whoever do it, without special permission is automatically charged of espionage. Greeks had to arrest them even for the eyes of media (they let them go after a while) or else they would have to answer to others. For example, some army bases (and technologies) there are USA's, and they don't want to disappoint such strong allies.

If PS3 and X360 Bayonetta fans really supported the game then it wouldn't have been a wii U exclusive. One of the reasons Bayonetta 2 didn't get funding was because the original sold like crap and publishers were too afraid to fund it. So Nintendo was the only one to actually fund the game and they have the right to make it an exclusive. So without Nintendo the game wouldn't even exist.
even still nintendo needs to stop with their old ideas making video games, wii U really sucks it has no 3rd party support when EA and Activision doesn't want to make games your system u have shit box console, so bad in fact they already thinking of dropping price soon and dropping that screen pad in new bundles they going update games uses it only to allow wii or classic controller work for them, in 2-3time new system is coming they know they Fucked up.
