Recorded at Sama Nete - World of the Master Plant Diet - Miguel Ochavano's deep jungle retreat center (outside of Paoyhan, Lower Ucayali River, Peru. July/ 2016). This was at the end of my (and my Norwegian jungle samurai brother's) second month (of seven months) living in the jungle with Don Miguel, surrounded by an endless expanse of medicinal plants.
This recording is from the 2nd last ceremony for two passengers - from Poland and the UK - who had stayed for two weeks. I would have to check my diary, but I believe this was after my 2nd Dieta with Machinga (the tree's white sap resin), and myself and the Norwegian were now ingesting doses of Chiric Sanango (the scraped bark from the plant's trunk and branches mixed into a bottle of aguardiente). Our group of four was also being treated with doses of Noya Rao - Palo Volador - the Flying Tree of Love & Light. Or perhaps, the Tree that Teaches Flight.
Miguel's cousin was able to bring Noya Rao medicine to Sama Nete, from a jungle retreat outside of Iquitos, but now Miguel claims to have found Noya Rao on his property. I haven't seen it myself (apart from an impressive photo), but one morning, after 5 months of Dieta at Sama Nete, myself and at least 15 other people heard this incredible roaring vibration bellowing out from the jungle, which lasted well over half-an-hour. Miguel said that it was Noya Rao, somewhere nearby, and it was just a matter of time before he discovered this Flying Tree's whereabouts.
Most of the purging, coughing, hacking, moaning, laughing, & thumping has been edited out. I also removed all of the singing by our group, except for the curandero's icaros.
The slideshow goes on for about an hour, then simply features my book cover artwork for the next hour.

The book describes my first Medicine ceremonies in Santa Teresita, a peaceful Shipibo community on Cashibococha.
