this is so sad to me. Dishonored is my favourite game of all time. Arkane was forced to make a live-service looter when their strength is in stealth single-player (even just look at the great, critically acclaimed Prey 2017). The game unsurprisingly flopped and now the studio is being shut down. As a Dishonored fan, this is soul-crushing. I'm French and when I was in uni studying to be a sound designer, my dream was to get into Arkane Lyon, that's how much I love this studio and IP. I can only hope that Arkane Lyon will develop another Dishonored now that the Austin studio is closing. I fucking hate Microsoft, man.
Hey wait... You mean I don't have to be signed into some server with an undisclosed expiry date to be able to play a game that I spend money on? I might actually bother giving this a go now.
One cool and important update that Everyone is missing Is that they added infinite ammo and it doesn't shut off achievements. You can find the option under the Accessibility tab
I think Tango was even worse to shut because they made a proper game with almost no bugs and still got the axe when some other studios have recently done worse than them. I am happy I never got into the gaming industry like I wanted to when I was younger.
14:19 _"I am alive. I am confident. I am badass."_ Wow, that is some cringey dialogue. That's right up there with the likes of Forspoken and the Saints Row reboot.

this channel is weird because it covers topics only the hardcore "in the know" gamers would care about, but he also spends so much time re-explaining basic expositioin and opinions just about everyone knows at this point. Always has me coming in for a genuinely interesting topic, only to click out halfway because it feels like the video is running in place
Perhaps you may just not be his best audience then. I’m mostly a silent watcher, I like to have background videos going all the time but I do frequently watch Luke’s videos attentively and I’m not even a gamer of the games he talks about, yet I am almost always completely “in the know” because of him and I like that!! I may not be a gamer in the middle of the conversations of what he talks about but because of Luke’s videos I always know what’s going on and for me the “running in place” of re-explaining exposition you describe is very much appreciated ~
I've noticed it with other channels who have a majority American audience, they have to repeat themselves 3 times for the viewer to either keep up, pay attention or understand in laymans terms.
Of course Phil Spencer once again does his best of "Don't ask for permission ask for forgiveness" mentality on game release causing another disappointing release from AAA gaming studios marked at $70 released as a disaster.
The companies with the resources to make these games are not interested in making a game that's _fun_ to play. They want games that are just barely enjoyable enough to get you drudging along to maximize retention time so that your user behaviour can be farmed and sold off to advertisers while the depressed people who play these games as if it's their second job will spend additional money on microtransactions in the hope that the pleasure of having those paid cosmetics will make the game more enjoyable. Redfall being miserable is part of the scheme, it just so happened that this one fell through.
I didn’t have a problem with lag But for me the “aiming” felt off Similar to womfenstein youngbloods If u get the aiming feel wrong in shooters It ruins the whole experience
I hate how the market heads essentially has decided that developers need to have continuous success, and if they have one bad launch then it's over forever. That's why all games from AAA studios just follow popular tropes and play it safe. Maybe these recent flops will signal the need for change, to allow devs to take creative risks and allow for some flops before cutting the entire team.
So when it's not a live service game and it's offline mode it plays better (for the most part). I know Helldivers 2 exists but for the live service slop that don't need to be one like Suicide Squad shows that they don't need to be
I'm one of the 10 people who kind of liked this game from the beginning. I never thought it was that bad, just not very good, mainly from a technical standpoint. Now I wish I had waited until this last update to play it.
It's bittersweet knowing this is the last update. This is what the game *should* have been at launch. I'm just glad an offline mode was added so this will be playable forever.
Well forever is a bit of a stretch, since eventually it will be incompatible with the newest hardware and OS versions, and there won't be any updates to address that. But at least it will be playable for a foreseeable future.
who remembers this quote from the horrible launch. [Game pass is for ever and red fall will always be on game pass for people to enjoy for years to come it will be updated regularly]. months later studio is closed and people didn't even get there first DLC. I knew this game was done a week after launch. I did think for a second they could redeem it but then i realized the game is beyond restoring a player base to keep it going the super fans kept saying we are getting a update soon it took 4 months to get one small update and the game only got 3 updates and it didn't really change the gameplay any, it took a year and it only got 4 updates in that time, it received the last update when they got shut down they wasn't making any progress with this game. The idea of a looter shooter vampire game is awesome they just wasn't the studio to pull it off.
Now both companies that have made games named Prey have been shut down because of corporate greed. Real sad neither of them will get further installments now
The devs gave us a single player game.. which is what arcane always wanted to do. I think adding a pause was a big middle finger to upper management. This video made me kinda sad because I loved that studio. Dishonored was amazing. Thanks for posting.. Im going to download and play this single player game!
The real message of the day is stop being complacent to LIVE SERVICE games. AAA games can still be great, but when they are live service games they almost always suck
The fact they have an offline only mode for this game now shows exactly how predatory a lot of gaming industry is in regards to online only/live service games, and basically ripping off gamers when it comes to a game's EOL.
Honestly, playing this via gamepass with my fiance from day 1 it is so much fun. Lackluster in a lot of aspects and I can see so many ways this game could have been amazing. But there is alot here - more than we expected. Still having fun grinding Thorin areas and collecting trinkets etc. still not done with story l. Biggest issue was simply getting infinite loading screen randomly with one of our saves and can no longer coop that character... Weird one. Not expecting any reply or update so that's that. It is a fun little game for ye ol last time playing arkane game - wish they would have at least added 60 for dishonored 2 on series x... Oof.
It's almost NEVER the "developers" fault w/these games. If it were a smaller studio, I wouldn't have NEARLY the same level of being "critical", but they get bought out by MICROSOFT which ALLLL these studios figured they'd somehow "improve" but instead they just give "bonuses" to the people in management. So the people in the trenches, get SCREWED, while the horrendous management skates away w/all the cash 💸 and payin for articles to be made talkin about anything BUT that. I GENUINELY feel bad for the "modern developers". I'm sure there's SOME studio that treats em right, but my GOD they must be few & far between nowadays. They make em go through these "crunches" & all but ruin their lives, ESPECIALLY it they have families, but nope they just treat em like dirt and reward themselves at the top--management makes these horrible "conditions", TERRIBLE monetizations no one wants to almost EVERY game, then blame the people that are almost always NOT the "true problem" in gaming
This game on paper had so many ideas that had me excited and even gameplay itself was fun to me, but the coop was designed so clunky and I had no one to play with and I fell off quick. Sad to see this death
That's business, the employees do what they are told, even when providing a case it's not a good move. Leadership says do it this way, it gets done and isn't successful, leadership who made all the final decisions now blames their subordinates. Then the layoffs, but the leadership who was in charge of this terrible thing comes out unscathed, but their subordinates aren't that lucky. But why? If the companies initiative fails, how is it not the CEO and the rest of the Leaders calling all the shots????? It will never make sense. I'm sports when a team does bad the coach gets fired, the GM gets fired etc. bc they are making the decisions so it only makes sense. Why isn't it like this in corporate America.

It’s all over, but the crying…yeah, I’ve been listening to some Diamond City radio lately.
I actually laughed at this. Heard this song in the last 10 minutes myself in my survival play through of F4.
I think going forward Luke should unplug one random cable per video and test how the game behaves.
Personally, I think the vampire boyfriend summon thing is underrated. Is he the only vampire that actively fights against the vampires, or what?
A game getting a final update less than 2 years after release is something to be studied
Most see it within the first few months lol
14:21 honestly the most creative “don’t forget to subscribe” I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂😂
if anyone reading this feels burned by Redfall, i cannot recommend picking up Prey 2017. i put it off for years but last year i finally played it and loved it. its a shame Arkane Austin never got the chance to make a sequel.
heres hoping Arkane Lyon can still get the chance to cook
I wanted the actual Prey 2 where I play as a badass bounty hunter in space interacting with Tommy from the original game.
Tried it. Boring. Too tedious. Started a handgun build, and it wasn't fun
@@porkerpete7722 get good
*can recommend
@@porkerpete7722 Felt the same Bruv. Not sure why these guys are all praises.
I like this dudes content. Ive nvr even played redfall nor have an xbox or pc but his videos r easy listens
It's like 13 bucks for the game on IG, might give it a shot with one playthrough. Can't be worse than Suicide Squad Kills The Justice League.🤷
13 bucks is still too much. I'll wait for it to drop around 1 or 2 dollars.
Or better yet, not buy garbage games like Redfall *or* Suicide Squad and instead save your money, save your time, save yourself the headache, and I dunno, go get a burger or something. That would be a better value, that's for sure.
Probably not as bas as Suicide Squad but still a bad game. Honestly don't bother.
It is worst. The question is "Is it better than Gollum?"
It also costs time.
So it's now basically far cry with vampires. Ill play that for like 10$
Red fall is actually good not going to lie I hope they keep it up for 3 years
So, the game is a polished turd* now.
Pst... check your spelling...
@@TheHK_47 Thanks. Autocorrect can be a troll sometimes.
@@KaoruMzk no problem
So we're not getting a redfall 2? This was the best vampire game I've ever played. It pushed the boundaries of what a game should be, it was sooooo fun to play
I never really had any interest in Redfall but then I saw this update. I wanna try the single player pausing that they added. I am a sucker for bleeding edge technology.
It's so good!
Do it. I just got it today and I have been having a lot of fun. Never played launch but this is indeed a good game to play.
Good game to pause. Not to actually play
Out of curiosity, if this is the last update, what happened to all the dlc characters. They just pull the plug in them. If so, how is there no class action or massive wave of refunds for the bite back edition.
Redfall patch notes
"Added more frequent crashes for user engagement"
The crashing was so perfect. 😂
At least it has offline now. Perhaps modders can make something of it.
So what are the repiration rewards for those who pre-ordered the £120 Bite Back edition? *Raises hand in shame*
Unfortunately I havent seen any news covering that, which I think is illegal for a company to do...However, Im also not sure if that purchase only followed "Arkane Austin" or the greater Zenimax for legal liability as I didnt buy that...
I almost bought that physical upgrade steelbook pack... Almost.
It's an important lesson to learn
No shame, you had hope in something that seemed like it was gonna be fun
this is so sad to me.
You could say Redfall took a ..... fall.... I'll be here all night
Hey wait... You mean I don't have to be signed into some server with an undisclosed expiry date to be able to play a game that I spend money on?
I might actually bother giving this a go now.
Redfall devs: this final patch will improve the game's stability
Redfall's final patch: 16:04
One cool and important update that Everyone is missing Is that they added infinite ammo and it doesn't shut off achievements. You can find the option under the Accessibility tab
I think Tango was even worse to shut because they made a proper game with almost no bugs and still got the axe when some other studios have recently done worse than them. I am happy I never got into the gaming industry like I wanted to when I was younger.
Did they add any characters people might want to play as?
Yea this was what the game was supposed to come out as. It seems like it was supposed to be fallout esc but Microsoft wanted it's live service hit
14:19 _"I am alive. I am confident. I am badass."_
Wow, that is some cringey dialogue. That's right up there with the likes of Forspoken and the Saints Row reboot.
It really would take a lot of context to make that anything else. A sympathetic character trying to hype themselves up for a tough fight could work with that.
Forspoken gets way too much hate. The dialog ain't great, but the gameplay and combat is solid.
They didn’t learn anything. Turn and burn.
It's really cool to see this stuff available for those who did enjoy the game but at the core it still has a lot of problems.
16:03 Sins of the Father 👀 Solid Music Choice. 👍🏾🔥
I will say this, i'm glad they implemented an offline mode and single player pause.
This is not a problem with the industry it's a problem with xbox, You tell them to keep making a game they didn't want to continue making then when it flops you fire them....🤯
I love the dishonored series and prey. Sad to see them go.
Is anybody else thinking about how Microsoft bought out a competitor and then closed them down right afterwards? This sounds like predatory and monopolistic behavior from Microsoft.
Redfall is kind of ideal as a single player experience.
An open-world vampire apocalypse from the studio that developed Prey...
What's not to like?
It doesn't deserve praise for shit. They took people's money for an expansion that never released.
Maybe you missed them refunding people.🤦
Key to a good live service is having a iterative model instead of a waterfall model.
Bro said it would become a 7-8 now 😂 i thought the characters and story in itself were garbage? If that’s the case then it shouldn’t deserve anything above a 6
He doesn't say it deserves a 7-8 like your last sentence implies, he says it could get a 7-8
@@magb8632reread my comment i literally used the words “would become” nice reading comprehension. *I said* if the characters and story are mid then it deserves no more then a 6.
@@Skateandcreate9 thats why i said "like your last sentence implies" maybe you should also check your reading comprehension skills, and it implies exactly that because it's the follow up on the statement that it would become a 7-8 now with a laughing emojy implying you're laughing about this statement and then you try to" correct"him it only deserves a 6
Or to be more precise that it deserves no more than a 6 but aldo why you have to be instantly unpleasant by trying to belittle me with my "comprehension skills"?

this channel is weird because it covers topics only the hardcore "in the know" gamers would care about, but he also spends so much time re-explaining basic expositioin and opinions just about everyone knows at this point. Always has me coming in for a genuinely interesting topic, only to click out halfway because it feels like the video is running in place
Agree
Perhaps you may just not be his best audience then. I’m mostly a silent watcher, I like to have background videos going all the time but I do frequently watch Luke’s videos attentively and I’m not even a gamer of the games he talks about, yet I am almost always completely “in the know” because of him and I like that!!
I may not be a gamer in the middle of the conversations of what he talks about but because of Luke’s videos I always know what’s going on and for me the “running in place” of re-explaining exposition you describe is very much appreciated ~
I don't mind it actually because I'm ADHD as fuck which is probably why I gravitate towards his videos but I hear ya
I've noticed it with other channels who have a majority American audience, they have to repeat themselves 3 times for the viewer to either keep up, pay attention or understand in laymans terms.
Gotta get that ad revenue
Man Prey didnt capture me at all what am i missing? I think i uninstalled it after 30 minutes or so.
Of course Phil Spencer once again does his best of "Don't ask for permission ask for forgiveness" mentality on game release causing another disappointing release from AAA gaming studios marked at $70 released as a disaster.
them getting rid of tango was the worse move ever also loved their game especially the evil within
Luke "I tried XYZ after the big update" Stephens
It's never been this over Refall-bro's.
Luke: "We're still gonna have those live-service mess games".
**Cough** (Concord) **Cough**
Concord looked interesting until they said it was a 5v5 FPS, and that completely killed all interest in it.
Why is it so hard to just make a fun co-op shooter? The last good co-op shooter I played must have been Borderlands 3.
I didn’t have a problem with lag
But for me the “aiming” felt off
Similar to womfenstein youngbloods
If u get the aiming feel wrong in shooters
It ruins the whole experience
I hate how the market heads essentially has decided that developers need to have continuous success, and if they have one bad launch then it's over forever. That's why all games from AAA studios just follow popular tropes and play it safe.
Maybe these recent flops will signal the need for change, to allow devs to take creative risks and allow for some flops before cutting the entire team.
Is the pause feature part of the season pass ?
Real sad neither of them will get further installments now
It’s over? Please it never started!
This is kind of a sad video lol. Thank you Arcane for giving us Prey, such an underrated masterpiece.
The devs gave us a single player game.. which is what arcane always wanted to do. I think adding a pause was a big middle finger to upper management. This video made me kinda sad because I loved that studio. Dishonored was amazing. Thanks for posting.. Im going to download and play this single player game!
The msg of the day should be stop supporting AAA gaming companies.
The real message of the day is stop being complacent to LIVE SERVICE games. AAA games can still be great, but when they are live service games they almost always suck
@@og_dith3865 nah its the AAA which is the issue because that became the benchmark
At this point…it’s the devs of Arkane Austin putting out their resumes
The developers a 100% added offline mode so that the game would be easier to crack and pirate lol
I'm glad they allowed the team to add at least the online mode.
@LukeStephensTV You forgot to blur at 16:15
The fact they have an offline only mode for this game now shows exactly how predatory a lot of gaming industry is in regards to online only/live service games, and basically ripping off gamers when it comes to a game's EOL.
Oof.
I subscribed just for the silly little dancing carl trick. Well played sir.
Well, now I'm actually interested in the game. Once it goes on a deep, deep sale in a few years (for 10 bucks or so) I might give it a go!
It feels like your char is 20 percent too small, everything feels huge
This game on paper had so many ideas that had me excited and even gameplay itself was fun to me, but the coop was designed so clunky and I had no one to play with and I fell off quick.
Sad to see this death
Lowkey your red fall, starfield and SS Squad videos are your Trainwreck series.
Is this really lowkey?
