As disabled veteran, who even wife says I have no personality and pretty much existing robot, VR is basically my retreat. I use it for meditation and to learn new skills such as playing instruments, and keeping up in shape. At VA I always get asked how do I lose weight, when I do not exercise and don't really leave the house. Well... VR would be one of those magical secrets. It definitely opened up a lot of doors for many opportunities.
That comment made me cringe. I hope you're okay, man! If your wife says you have no personality, it's time to have a serious conversation with her about your feelings. If she can't appreciate you for who you are, then it may be time to consider ending the relationship. There are many other people out there who will love and appreciate you for who you are.
@Factsfun-kg4xc not her fault. Polytrauma is different in different people. In reality it is something isn't just her who feels that way. I can't connect like other people I have to "fake feelings". It doesn't mean I cannot form friendships, but one of the problems is simply apathy for just about everything. Unfortunately, apathy is one of the prevalent symptoms of the said above condition.
Hear! Hear! I’ve been disabled for the past 7-plus years, with five years prior of being basically bedridden, minus what I could manage, with my condition. I actually broke down, just the other day, explaining my VR experience over the past two years, with my Dad - calling it a “godsend,” because it is, in so many ways. I can do things I never thought I’d do, again, like (pushing down on the move stick to start) jogging, shooting bow, riding animals, and hanging with great groups of friends, among many other things. Material boundaries are being blurred in some very wonderful ways, and so rock on, brother!
I honestly just love watching videos while browsing the internet or messaging people using multiple floating windows in pass through mode, while chilling in bed. It just feels so futuristic haha
I use big screen a ton with the audio synced to my surround sound or AirPods Pro. There’s no lag at all and it really is some future shit. Do workouts, surf the web, watch tons of content. I basically use this more than any other screen now a days. The quest 3 really made me a believer in this vr/ar as the future.
@@astirling Bluetooth, also just grab some earmuffs that don’t apply too much pressure and it’ll bounce the sound into your ears and just use those. Great option nobody talks about.
Again, I had to say I really appreciate the time that you take to make these videos. I own a quest 3 & I feel like watching your videos are helping me utilize my headset 100%…. Meta should really feature your channel on the oculus home menu, you really help people out
I’ve done chores around the house with quest 3. Bringing the browser with me is so nice while keeping both of my hands free for chores. And I can have a huge screen to glance at in the kitchen. I want to try fitness apps.
We are going to be using VR to help fix my daughters lazy eye. The doctor actually has a program that dims the eye she's using to force her to engage the weak eye. From what I understand, it will slowly return it to normal, so she's using both eyes again.
Picking up the quest 3 right now to try out. Thank you for covering things other then gaming. Don’t really care for the games to be honest. I enjoy the visual environments and video entertainment.
The improvements to the passthrough and hand tracking over the Quest 2, as well as the pancake lenses make consuming video content in the Quest 3 an awesome experience in my opinion
Hands down, quest 3 has the best and more relaxing viewing experience for flat content in vr that I have tested, q1 q2 and psvr2 it's not so easy for your eyes to watch flat content, with Q3 I lay down to my bed after a long day, no need to be in front of my pc to enjoy my pc content, truly it's the first that my eyes don't get tired after a while first time I truly enjoy a 3d movie in VR or even browsing
For me gaming on my quest 3 is just a nice bonus as I bought it mainly for working/studying (I am a civil engineering student) with the immersed app. Btw it is awesome to have 4 monitors for this "cheap" anywhere I go.
I’m doing F1 and Rally sim racing in VR and it is amazing with my DOF H6 motion simulator. Steering wheel, shifter & pedals or convert to flight sim with HOTAS and rudder pedals. Retirement is a gooood thing! 😊
I use Adobe Medium to do 3D modelling which I then 3D print. I find using VR makes it a lot easier than trying to do it flatscreen. More like modelling in clay.
My Q3 is an all around entertainment device....Games, Movies, and Exercising. One way of exercising I enjoy is.....virtual cycling videos on youtube while riding my stationary bike. My ceiling is too low for a treadmill but there are virtual walking videos available too. Some in 360 degree views and others in the flat screen version (which can be blown up to ultrascreen size). It's like having a Peloton bike, but way more immersive and much cheaper.
I use VR also for my personal stereoscopic 180 and 360 images and videos. In fact this was the reason i bought the Quest 1 in 2019. it is fantastic to have moments from your life and family in an immersive image format, and i think it will be even more valuable for my kids when they are adult...if they can step into those memories and see themself as kids and their grand and grand grand parents in lifesize. I use it for watching 3D movies (i convert my 3D Bluray collection to stream them in Bigscreen etc) And i love the Amazon prime cinema app to watch series. Also i like to do virtual traveling and creative apps.
I build concept cars in Gravity Sketch. Interior, Exterior, everything you see and touch. The data can be milled as full size clay models, or 3D print scale models. Colour passthrough makes it feel like I am less isolated and still in the room with my colleagues.
This is an excellent video Matteo! I have a lot of the games/workout apps you mentioned! Just started Supernatural and am loving it. I’m glad you brought this to the frontline! Thank you!
yeah usefull video thanks! a couple of thing you can add are productivity and art: product design, 3d modelling/sculpting, 3d painting (medium, gravity, multibrush), 2d painting, digital to physical sign transplant (vermillion, contour), music synth (virtuoso).. work? quest 3 for multiple monitors to your pc
If you have a bobovr m2 or m3 pro, it's easy to just bend the back part to rest on top of your head instead of the back of your head, and that way you can easily lean back and relax and meditate etc. It'll also sit much looser, since it's not clamping on to your head, but it's just hanging there, making it way better for relaxation.
I use my quest 3 to study with the textbook, practice problems, and videos playing at the same time in my view instead of constantly switching tabs on my laptop
due to work im often working offsite. and having the Quest 3 with me for Just watching Movies, youtube, Netflix. when im home i play a lot of Ghost of tabor and beatsaber.
I usually use virtual desktop on my quest 3 and then I run my ps2 or my other emulators and run classic games on my wall and the quality is amazing not a single frame drop
One of the unexpected is how much I've enjoyed the 3d art/animations/experiences. This was originally on the Index but I was looking forward to getting a Quest because most of that energy has (unfortunately) migrated from pc to quest (in e.g. VR Animation Player). Although I do still miss some of the xr part of film festivals etc when it was on PC even if some of the content was pandering, pretentious, etc (government funding for arts incentivizes it)
My brother moved 500 miles from me 3 years ago. Several times a week we watched shows together prior to the move. But we are still watching shows together in Vr! Yes we watch the exact type of shows which are mostly syfy in bigscreen. It's incredible. It's just like we are together. We tried watching shows together on share flat screens before we tried bigscreen. That totally sucked.
I’m currently waiting for my Quest 3 to be delivered - like waiting for water to boil…. In the past several months I have taken an interest in 3D photography. I’ve bought a FujiFilm W3, and have been taking some 3D pictures with my iPhone as well. So I am interested in using the Quest 3 as a viewer for 3D photos, and hoping there will be some app available that allows of sharing 3D photos as well.
I use the quest 3's AR for reading digital sheet music while playing the piano. Unfortunately, there is not a great native AR pdf viewer. I use VD, but shouldn't have to turn on my PC and waste those watts for playing piano.
I've not had my Quest 2 for long but recently figured out how to get it hooked up to my Plex server which is going to be amazing the next time I'm traveling for work.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 it really is isnt it, do you just access yours through the web interface? I was going to try using bigscreen but the DLNA interface only works locally and for some reason I couldnt get audio through it.
I am using it to get over my phobia of other people being close to me physically and actual human touch, I would like to use a pov photorealistic narrative for this but alas only the adult industry is taking any kind of advantage in leveraging VR POVs to sell experiences so I have to use adult experiences as a psychological tool that's the next thing to be in those situations in real life from the little of that sphere of humanity that I know about. My phobia has also majorly impacted my ability to form all kinds of relationships so ideally I would love to see more straight up experiences that simulates closeness to other people that doesn't become either immediately sexual or violent.
I was excited for Quest 3 for color passthrough when 3d modeling with Gravity Sketch. I set my expectations too high for the passthrough, it's still really cool, but I thought quality would be better. Anyway, I used Gravity Sketch to create a world for VRchat. I think Gravity Sketch does not get the credit it deserves.

A cheaper VR headset will do the trick and everybody would be happy. That’s my opinion. Keep up the good work ;)
