    I absolutely love my Tribute Fallout, got it in January. I played the US version but I prefer the slim C neck of the Tribute. This is my third G&L, I also just purchased the CFL L-2000 which is a superb instrument but I find myself picking up the Fallout more than any other bass. You are right about the US version neck feeling more like a Mustang, I have a 1970 Fullerton Mustang and a 2008 MIJ reissue. I love my short scale basses. Thanks for the demo!

    I love the Tribute models. So much bang for your buck. I believe the tuners on the Tribute models might be different from the USA ones. Not that the Tribute tuners are bad, just not the "ultra light” ones on the USA ones. I think the wiring is possibly another spot they cut a corner on with the Tributes. All that being said, I’ve never had any issues with the Tributes. They are definitely worth looking into!

    Just got the same one a few weeks ago. Same color too. Feels great and sounds great straight out of the box. I like the neck, it has some heft to it rather than being ultra skinny. The only other short scale I can compare it too is the newer Fender Mustang PJ models. Didn't like the feel of the neck on that, but that's very subjective. For the price I thought it was very good value. Also I like demos that show a dark tone since that is the primary sound that I use a bass for. Metal players might feel different about that though. I keep meaning to put flats on mine but I'm having fun with the roundwounds for now.

    Excellent video. I bought a Tribute when it arrived it had scratches over the entire back and sides. It should have never left the factory. But the playability and sound were excellent. I sent it back and now have the opportunity to go for either the American or the Tribute. Sounds like you are not feeling / hearing a lot of difference in the two, is the American version worth the high price? Please let me know, really need help deciding. Thanks!

    I’ve had the sea foam green version of this Bass for a few months. It’s amazing play, tone and feel. The tone is really a monster unlike any I’ve played. I usually record with a pick so I’m still searching for a great low E string (the others are already great, but I want a better E). Suggestions?

      How is the balance on this thing? I’ve got a star fire and played a few other short scale basses and I always like the feel and playability of them sitting down but the neck dive when standing is just awful. Haven’t had my hands on one of these or a mustang bass though.

    • @geoffreymerrifield5666
      @geoffreymerrifield5666 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TK_100 Well it’s a bit heavier neck than the Sterling SS,. I only play in the studio so it’s a mix of sitting and standing. If I were needing a Bass for live, I’d pick a Music Man Sterling short scale for less on my back.

    • @BassWhispererTV
      @BassWhispererTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, one is 30" scale the other is 34" scale, so playability is not really a level comparison. The Fallout is a great bass, but if you don't want a short scale... don't get it. Even though it's not an even comparison - I think the G&L is a bit higher in terms of hardware etc.

    • @BassWhispererTV

      The tone controls are different. The Fallout is one passive tone knob, the 1K has dedicated bass and treble. The scale length changes the overall response too... the shorty is a little creamier.

      G&L does make a hard shell for it, one of the classic G&G/Fender style cases. They also make a gig bag... not super protective, but it fits. Unfortunately, it's a little longer than the Mustang, so it doesn't fit perfect in those cases.

    I just got mine and the fretwork is atrocious. Every other fret is high and when it came out of the box the neck was slightly convexed so you couldn't even play it. Even with just about zero tension on the truss rod it goes to straight with no relief which is not what I want. I am hoping this one slipped through the cracks. Other than them both being 30" scale bolt ons in the Fender style... Not much. The Mustang pickup IMO is lacking something...output, tone... It's okay, but not great. The MFD humbucker in the Fallout is killer. I have many G&Ls with this exact pickup and it has way more output, and tonal variation than the 'Stang.
