This song has been requested by his patrons since "forever" as he says. It wasn't something he thought he wanted to cover, but he said that when he got started on it, he actually had a really great time arranging it. I think it shows. 😁

This one is just so haunting. Beautifully done and the video choices fit it perfectly - both the lack of visual backup singers and the very sparse and muted room. Thanks for taking the time out to do this one. I hope the other "Wicked" begins to cooperate!

I do know the Chris Isaac song but preferred the simple version Angelina Jordan did at her piano years ago, but this version by Geoff is just something else again. I would think he just knows what style will work, what arrangement he wants to do, regarding the number of Geoffs. There may be a time element too perhaps. All that filming and editing takes a lot of time. He did say that he spent so long editing this one that his behind was numb by the time it was done. :) His other main solo one was High and Dry o course, and that was brilliant too. He has no desire to do his solo covers a capella, as he says, he has VoicePlay for that And he does create all the musical backing too. It's another skill. The song is about being attracted to someone who isn't really good for you, and that can never be said of Geoff and Kathy,.so it wouldn;t be appropriate to see her in this one.

This is the third one in a row that did not show the harmonizing Geoff's. Jack's Lament, Blue Christmas, and now this one. Those are all songs that worked really well showing a singular voice. Before that, last year, was Sound of Silence. and shortly after he started was High and Dry.
I'm sure it's way easier to produce the video without all of the Geoff clone editing. He and Kathy had 4 cameras set up for all of the angles, so the actual video recording went very quickly. Still, nothing is ever easy, they had to park a block away and Geoff carried that piano in.
I miss multiple Geoff's; I hope they come back.

My previous favourite version of this song (before Geoff’s which has now shot to the top) was by the band HiM. It’s by a rock band and I think I loved it cause ville vallo had a deep voice too but Geoff’s is just 😍
That's actually the same piano he played in Till Then and Sound of Silence, as well as some of his shorts, including being in the background for All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Folsom Prison Blues last August was the last time we saw any of the clones, though we have heard them many times.
Thanks for you reaction to this stunning one. Geoff and Voice Play often do songs based on patron requests and I know that his patrons have been requesting this one for a while along with more of his piano playing. I really like the direction he went with this one too.
Geoff is not acapella when singing solo. He uses instruments in every video.
He said he has Voiceplay for acapella.

To add my guess to the question, I think it is a matter of the song if we see Geoff, Jeff, Jeoph and Daryl. Some songs require multiple characters for the better effect (I see fire, Ghostriders, Folsom Prison Blues, etc.) and some songs are better for just one, to focus better on the song, music or lyrics (Blackbird, High & Dry, Sound of Silence and now Wicked Game, e.g.).
Of course "(production) time" does matter, too. But I think Geoff would push a song to another month when there is more time, if this would be the reason.
I don't think that he doesn't want to do the multiple Geoff videos so often - all my personal opinion, no proof or something from 'behind the Patreon door'. 🤗

He said he saves a Capella for VP. This would not be nearly as heartbreaking if he wasn't alone as in the other two mentioned as well. I never really cared for this song but the dark and haunting beauty of this was surprisingly satisfying.

It is a beautiful, somber song. The background reminds me of Geoff's High and Dry (RadioHead).
I think it’s just that the last few songs he’s done are about being lonely, so it didn’t fit having multiple Geoffs in the videos. We’ll see more if the Geoff clones 😊. I have no clue what super bowl is, but I don’t live in the US. And I’m not into sports, is it a sport thing perhaps?😅
