@@Claydood Apparently the Aonuma-sanctioned answer is along the lines of, "It gives combat more depth and encourages strategy", which I can only see that being true for a fairly small portion of the playerbase. In actuality, everything having close to useless durability values pushes me to stray away from combat on a large scale unless it's particularly valuable monsters like the Lynel family, commonly encountered bosses or story and DLC bosses. TOTK had a better answer to durability, at least the way I see it, but it then has the effect of raw unfused weapons being even more useless than their BOTW counterparts.

I think there’s something cute about young link learning and sticking with his newfound passion of shield surfing/skate boarding, and bringing that passion into battle
I love the idea link just made the main story a side quest, the main quest just became about finding the absolute best spots to shred with Navi constantly trying to get him back on track
Navi: "We should really, REALLY, get around to saving the kingdom here Link-" Link: "Yea yea yea, in a sec, but watch this sick flip!" Gannon: "Sick!" Link: "See Navi! . . . wait-"
Crazy how removing durability makes this actually fun. Never knew how deep shield surfing mechanics were because in tehg ames it exists you do it for like 10 minutes and "your shield is badly damaged" to "your shield is about to break". Also ngl but i feel like this and TP spinner are the coolest things int ehs eries. IDK tony hawk inspired stuff is always rad.
I loved that Tears of the Kingdom let you make skateboards with the carts. I even kept a "collection" with the different carts (sky, zonai, homing, Goron) as decorated boards.
Since 2013 I always had this idea of a THPS style "single session" where you just do a freerun in 2 minutes of all the craziest trick combos there was, like TAS freeruns. Not it's looking like that might become a little more than I thought it would be lol.
The ironic thing about this is that it's basically what street skating is all about, taking existing places and seeing what kind of sick tricks you can pull. I very much enjoyed the Death Mountain hillbomb!
You should be able to shield surf a short distance over water with enough speed. This is sick. I love the wild and wacky stuff the OOT modding Community is cooking lmao. Keep it coming Guys.

Just expand your shield inventory, stock up, and find places to do it that don't wreck your shield (hint: Hebra)
