Thank you. This resolves what I thought was a phantom memory I’ve had for the past 27 years. As a child I swore I remembered this “other” Zelda game called Zelda 64 that looked a bit different from OOT. Never considered it could have been developmental or promotional footage! 😂
@@weirdsoupcartoonsyeah Not necessarily. When I was like 9 or 10, I had OoT, and a Nintendo Power magazine with screenshots in it of the beta version. I thought at the time there must be another Zelda game, probably exclusive to Japan for the N64 with better graphics and a more colourful Link.
Imagine you’ve just finished playing A Link to the Past-an absolutely incredible game that still holds up today (so well-aged!). Then this demo footage comes along, and it looks absolutely phenomenal, blowing away all expectations. The hype back then must have been through the roof! I remember seeing screenshots in the German gaming magazine N-Zone (specialized in Nintendo games) and being completely enthralled. And then, Ocarina of Time actually released and surpassed every expectation, redefining what games could be. Nowadays, I read Zelda mangas as bedtime stories to my son, and he absolutely loves them! I can’t wait until he’s old enough to experience games like this firsthand. Reliving that excitement through his eyes will be magical (I know, it’s a bit of nostalgic narcissism, but I genuinely believe it’s just sharing a timeless classic!).
@@ajs8738 Hey, fellow '90s kid here - I’m a ‘92er! 😊 I totally agree that it was a blessing to experience these milestones firsthand. There’s something magical about seeing gaming evolve right before your eyes. Nowadays, with the sheer flood of content thanks to the internet, there’s this kind of hedonistic oversaturation - everything has to be faster, bigger, better, and it’s all immediately accessible. (Man, I sound like a boomer saying that! 😅) That said, I can’t really get behind the “2D garbage” sentiment. There were so many phenomenal 2D games! A Link to the Past is still a masterpiece, and Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World are both high on my personal favorites list. And let’s not forget the later 2D real-time strategy games - I’ll never forget how (completely ineptly) I played Age of Empires I and II. Those were the days! 🎮✨

this is awesome, since I was a child I wanted to play these beta versions of the game, it's really cool how the game's footage was so random just showing link aimlessly walking around lol
I wish I can go back to being a kid can't wait to get the Analogue Nintendo 64 remaster next year if you guys wanna know what it is look it up and have a nostalgia trip they might be bringing back older consoles which is what 2025 is gonna need.
I never get tired of seeing beta footage from my favorite game of all time. What was the colored balls at 1:20? Were those beta Chu Chus that didn't make it into the game? This is the first time I'm seeing those things.
even with the gigaleak and all the footage recovered, there is still some things i had seen before. i cant recall seeing that house with the room divider ever before. nor do i recall ever seeing the beta Poes in action, just the old screenshots of them,
Hey hey hey don't bash Quest. It's got a lot more to it than you'd think, they were just sadly forced to release an alpha build of the game due to crunch, and their stupid need to release BEFORE oot.
@EltaleLibrarian it is what it is. What it could have been is irrelevant, is one of the worst games and "rpg" i have played and sadly one of the few rpg on n64
@SlimFit-ye1yc it'll be better soon. The randomizer and hard mode add a lot to it, but we're reimplementing quests and currency already, and there's more to come
@rafaelthomaziniquintana3263 well, if that scares you, for your own sake, never watch any horror movie and never play a resident evil/silent hill kind of game 😅
1:37 that ground-stab jump looked so badass, wish they left that in the game
They should have. Weird they didn’t
Well, they just replaced it with the air slash we all know. It's actually better because it gives more range.

Had memories where I saw my brother and cousins playing this version of Oot which must been phantom memory

Fortunately I don't have to imagine. I was born in 94 so I skipped the 2d garbage and this was, I think, the first 3d game i ever played

Is it me the attack animation looks reallu REALLY smooth? Link doesn't move forward but the consecutive slashes flow into each other so well.
Iicr, the whole game ran at a higher framerate at this point in development

Imagine showing a sub 20 OoT speedrun to someone in 1998
it scaries me a lot and idk why

This is back in 1997 when the game was still in development.

of them,
The Combat looks way more fluid. run and slice for the win.
Nice to see beta footage of the G.O.A.T. Zelda game.
This looks better than the final release. Nintendo seems to like to do that. They did that with Metroid Fusion as well sadly.
Final game look so much better. Nintendo really polish their games, this footage looks like any other "cheap" third party game for n64 (like quest 64)

WOW this vid will make many trip balls, I had never seen it in Spain. Was it a VHS or TV commercial?
I STRONGLY doubt they would air a 2 minutes commercial...
@@lucdubois3927Yeah, most probably was a section from a promotional videotape showing the upcoming releases to look forward to
Has anyone made a mod like this yet?
Did they render different lighting for the pre recorded “coming soon” parts or is the brightness just lower?
cool "zelda: ocarina of time" beta footages.
Needs some polish, but it might be a pretty good game once they're finished..
