    I am going into the hospital tomorrow to have this procedure performed. Even as an adult, I questions about what to expect. I found this video to be very friendly and informative. Thank you.

      Lindsy Hays do they basically stick things on your head, arm and stomach? There’s no needles, right?

    I've had a problem with flashing lights before but the other day when we did a fire drill at school I didn't go into an episode which would have sucked

    I was told to stay up all night before I go in to get my EEG testing (They're seeing if my epilepsy has gotten worse) so I'm watching this xD

    • @flargarbason1740

      @Faith Patyk Oh, I've had plenty of EEGs. They're very simple and perfectly painless. What they do is take about 20 or 30 tiny metal disks (called electrodes) with each one connected to a wire. They use some glue to attach them on different spots on your head and then they just leave them on for a while, sometimes they want you to try to sleep, then they use some stuff to dissolve some of the glue and take the electrodes off. Then you're done. There's no pain, and the electrodes are just sensors. You don't need to worry about anything.
      and no, they can't read your thoughts with it.

    Im taking an EEG due to possible petit Mal seizures. My hair goes down to my hips and it's super thick so I've been worrying about that

      Same, especially if you're of a different race like me, my hair is really poofy and frizzy, not sure how they're going to get the electrodes on.

      @@brandonleskil4523 good news, it took the technician a while to get them on but it wasn't too bad to wash off. I'd say two showers with intense scrubbing and you'll be ok. Best of luck 💕

    my 2.5 year old is going to be having this done soon. however, they want her to fall asleep during the test as well.. has anyone had that done?

    • @mechanicalhands6866
      @mechanicalhands6866 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chelsey Marquez I personally haven't but I know someone who has. They do this because you have different brain activity when your eyes are closed and many patients have episodes in their sleep more often than in their wake.

    can they see what you are thinking about and all the things you remember that has hapend

    • @lydiarusin
      @lydiarusin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope just the electrical currents in your brain

    • @flargarbason1740
      @flargarbason1740 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is all they can see. The brain uses electric and chemical signals to work. When something happens in your body a signal is sent to the right spot of the brain. All an EEG does is detect some of those signals. It's not accurate in terms of location (That's what an MRI is for) but it is spot on with timing (Which is perfect for epilepsy, which they're most commonly used for). They use them to see if there are any abnormally large electrical activity or abnormally absent electrical activity.
