Indeed, he is discouraging people and talking only about problems, i agree that marketplace will take a time to develop, but in my view there should be a rigtht stretegy
May be convice the sellers to upload the products without charging them for a promotional period and tell them the truth that the traffic of customer will only be targeted when there will be enough seller and products on site, until than focus on free promotions.

Wasn't sure what this video was trying to teach. First I though it was about starting a marketplace and the challenges, but it quickly turned to just sell in an existing marketplace or start your own website to sell your exclusive product.
A very well presented video. Regarding marketplaces not being suitable for personalised product though (9:15)...there is a hugely successful site in the UK called NotOnTheHighStreet where personalised products are one of the main reasons buyers visit the site. The site sells gift items, a large proportion of which can be personalised. Functionality wise, many of the sellers just include a text input field for buyers to specify their personalisation requirements.

Gentlemen is discouraging the people and if Iam not wrong ,he have different intentions to misguide the audience to another route. Nowadays it’s not as complicated as he says to open a marketplace and the best is to go with a niche concept. do some independent research on google and find the solution to your issues... and mostly all the “no” he said is “yes” ...almost everything is possible ...

Goof afternoon. I have a question ir regards to building an online marketplace for shoes. Which model do you believe is more profitable: 1. Suscription fees towards vendors + commission fees for each sale or 2. Listing fees for each item from vendors + commission fees? Thank you in advance for your response!
Sir I feel commission fees for each sale till the brand value increases. Then add listing fees also

He is just trying to be honest in running a ecom business. It's easy to start but tough to create a brand. As a ecom business, we should be aware of the market demand and should be ready to make it sell through our own contacts and old customers, my point is if ecom business depend only on digital marketing, we shud be ready to invest in digi marketing. If there is no sales, how can it sustain.

A teacher's job is to motivate and teach... Not to say that you will fail for sure.
