    Excellent advice. Another definion of turning while standing is to put your weight in the peg you want to turn.

    Thank you so much. You literally have the best teaching videos I’ve seen. I’m not trying to be super fast or crazy. Just confident. Cornering is a big one for me. Single track is a big one and I ride a lot of fire roads and regular mountain roads with my wife too and I’m always worried about washing out on the gravel. I’ll try the counter balance on both.

    I have been working my technique a lot lately, mainly to be a better safer rider. It truly amazing how much better the bike turns weighting the out side of the bike in turns. Sitting or standing.

    Long time street rider, first year riding off road. Your videos are fantastic. You have a knack for explaining things with relation to why they matter (not just "do this"). You teach without ego, which is another place you shine among the many showoffs on YT.
    You've helped me get going so much better than I would on my own, thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.

    A trick I learned either from another one of your videos or elsewhere was to weight the inside peg on entry. I did everything else except that and I couldn't figure out why I was so slow and sloppy in those really tight 12" wide single rut trails. After I added weighting the inside peg on entry, I was several times faster and more precise. No more bouncing side to side in the rut like a billiard ball in the corners. I'm not sure if it's "proper technique" but a game changer for me.

    • @adambatchelder4121
      @adambatchelder4121 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try leaving the clutch engaged while braking, it makes it harder to lock up the rear wheel witch is almost always the problem.

    Megs, are you squeezing the bike at all during this or just letting the seat float around inside the legs? If your letting in float how do you keep from having to hold on when twisting the gas, you do you re-grab with your knees when you twist the throttle?

  • @StoneyWV
    @StoneyWV 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Megs; tight single track in the woods are you squeezing the seat at all when counterbalancing move? Seems like you allowing the bike to move under you freely during that!

    • @megs_braap
      @megs_braap  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      StoneyWV No, I’m not usually squeezing the bike when I’m turning in the single track. Like you mentioned, I’m letting the bike move freely under me.
